Over the last 5 years, DeeAnn (the owner and choreographer) has done a tremendous job of leading the instructors and helping the dancers develop a passion for dance. The instructors make the classes fun for the students and the teachers encourage the dancers to go to the next level. The studio teachers all kinds of dance: ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop, and contemporary/lyrical (and I think there's even ballroom for adults) and ends the year with a wonderful recital for all dancers and families (ticket prices are reasonable). My daughter joined the pre-competition team this year, where she learned more teamwork, goal setting, and sportsmanship skills all the while developing her dance technique even more. DeeAnn keeps up with current choreography, technique and trends in modern dance, yet keeps the dances age-appropriate and CLOTHING APPROPRIATE for the ages of the dancers. As parents of a young girl, we appreciate that more than you know! Camille teaches hot, Hot, HOT dance moves, Holly teaches amazingly beautiful ballet and technique, Courtney can lock and pop it with all the hip hop swag she has and Meishel is patient and sweet as she teaches the Tiny Tots the foundational moves that will keep them interested for years to come. My daughter hasn't had Elizabeth for a teacher, but I've seen her in action and she has GOT IT! We LOVE AofD and would highly recommend it to any parent searching for a quality dance studio that has your dancer's best interest at heart. They will help your dancer develop a love of dance and your dancer will have fun along the way. I'm sure some dancers will go on to highly competitive collegiate teams, others will simply dance because they love it and both of those goals are met at Academy of Danse. Our family is moving out of the area, but we will always be grateful for the positive influence the teachers, dancers and DeeAnn have had on our daughter. I highly recommend AofD and its teachers.

She specializes in ATS (American Tribal Style). I was pretty self-conscious dancing at first, but all the girls in the class ranged from beginner, to a little more advanced. We learn 1-2 new moves per class, drill them, then do an improvisational group dance, led by Leslie. And if you're having trouble with a move, she works with you. Class size ranges, sometimes there's only 3 of us, sometimes 10. So, now to the review about the facility. The room we had designated to us was a bit small. No air circulation, a few windows, but if you know Napa heat, it does not help. And if you're dressed in the proper attire (a 10 yard skirt) you just want to die. I wore socks to dance and they turned black every time, so I don't know if the floors are cleaned. Location is easy to find, just behind Wal-Mart. I don't know about the other classes offered here, I just wanted to rave about Leslie Lew's Belly Dance lessons :)

If you are looking for a customized wedding dance - look elsewhere…read more Our first free lesson we were told we could be taught the choreography from a YouTube video dance to our first dance song. And that we could not learn a dance over a 1.5 minutes. 5 lessons later and the dance was no where close to what we wanted. They continued to force their series of 10 wedding dance moves on us even though during our lessons we asked for specific choreography. Our instructor still had to ask us what our wedding song was by our last lesson. The first lesson we did the dance to our wedding song was the 5th lesson. And by that point we had to change some of the choreography on our own at home so it matched the beat. This was also the lesson our teacher was sick and we were not notified, so we were assigned a stranger who did not know our choreography or song. Which at over $100/lesson this should have been rescheduled. By the end of our 7 lessons, we reworked the majority of the dance on our own time. And should have just stuck to learning it from YouTube. The added bonus was a weekly date night and my husband feeling confident that he is good at ballroom dance. And the dance that we reworked was 2.5 minutes and much better than we what were were taught. They had us doing a hand hold position for our entire wedding dance...

The teachers are great, Especially Miss Kelsey. She does wonders with her Pre-Ballet and Ballet 1 classes! Such patience she has, its amazing! When I used to dance at another school when i was younger, they had given me a complete schedule when we signed up, when the recital would be, when the dress rehearsal were. My parents knew exactly what to expect for the dance year, knew when to plan vacations according to our schedule. Napa Valley Ballet doesn't not offer that. so be prepared for you child to possibly miss something if you plan ahead like I do. When it came to the recital, which they knew would be at the end of the "school year" in June. We didn't learn about the date of the recital until Mid April because they had not secured a location for the recital... Wouldn't this be something that they should have been planning since the beginning of the school year? The poor planning of the recital will also most likely lead to my step-daughter missing her dress rehearsal, The ONLY rehearsal, which is a whole week before the actual recital. My step-daughter is 5, and in two different dances, I DO NOT expect her to even remember what she is required to do a whole week ahead of time, if she can even make it.. The ladies who work the front desk never have any idea of whats going on. They can never give me an answer to any question I have. For instance, when they finally announced the date and times for the recital, the lady at the desk had NO idea if the tickets were on sale, or when they would be.. (the recital was less than two months away when i asked.) The poor planning of this schools events, and lack of communication at this establishment has lead me to look at other ballet schools for my step-daughter, which I don't really want to do considering my step-daughter loves her teacher and has become friends with the girls in her class. If the owner can step up, and take more initiative in her business, my step-daughter might possibly attend in the fall again.

My opinion. I am sure the dance school will try to punish but I feel like leaving this comment. Any…read moreschool expressing "xx (student) is weak" is not education. The dance school used to be good for younger kids to learn ballet. It has mainly a single instructor and another temp instructor. The main instructor runs the place (non-profit). It looks like she has preferred students who always flatter no matter what and she has unpreferred students whom she does not care much about. When she feels good, she overly flatters preferred students. When she does not feel good, she blames other students - her communication gets unreasonably hurtful to kids in front and behind. It goes on and on. I feel it is not the student's fault. Those come from the body structure, forcing unreasonable ways on the body. A visiting instructor disagree with her teaching and pointed out it is not a safe way to dance. The timing of having point is another example - it is rushed to have it but physicians did not recommend it. Parents are having a hard time pushing back and forth between "Do it now" from the instructor and "Too early" from the physicians. Any discussions come back with humiliation, "you should withdraw from the school" or "will not choose you in the next Nutcracker (or recital)." The instructor does try to balance saying "I care about you" while she continues blaming the student. The attitude is very depressing. The students are small kids and teenagers. In my opinion, the school must realize it is unhealthy and inappropriate for younger kids.

In addition, it is the only ballet company in the Valley that is successful enough as a company to present the full-length Nutcracker Ballet, every year for the past 18 years. This is an impressive production and a beloved gift to the community at large. The positive impact that NRDC has had on our girls, as well as the extended company of dancers, is evident to all who meet them. They are some of the most focused, hardworking, loyal, supportive kids you will ever meet. Whether they choose to go on and dance professionally or not, the life skills learned at NRDC are hard to replicate. What might work for a young child does not always translate into their tween and teen years. Ballet is hard, and it takes commitment, you have to sacrifice a lot for your passion, just ask Misty Copeland. If it isn't right for your child or your family, that's okay - but let there be no mistake, NRDC continues to be the best ballet education in the Valley with countless students who continue to excel both in life and dance after NRDC.

We joined post pandemic shut down, so there are a lot of extra machines because they had to close a few clubs last year. Because of only outdoor workouts for part of 2020, they use these extra machines outside. They happen to be staged around the pool. Regardless of all the extra equipment on the deck, it is really inviting! Most of the chairs and tables are put up because the machines are there, but for some reason I feel like it is still a place you could hang out. The furniture that is there is comfortable. Most people that come to the gym want to use the machines and the weights. The pool is not necessarily booked to where you feel crowded. Reservations are required still, but it's not difficult to make a reservation. We have worked out during the day and at night. It's really lovely at sunset. Have not used the indoor pool. We joke and say we are going to "the club" because after our swim, sometimes we take a dip in the hot tub, the steam room or the sauna. But to top it all off we always grab a massage chair.
