Initially scoped to have it all done in a day, the initial technician walked me through the complexities of hanging the sconces (mostly, wood in the walls requiring some workarounds and clever drywall cutting). As such, the ceiling fan had to wait, but David from T&D called me immediately and said he was able to secure another technician for the next day. Each of the two technicians were great - communicative, cleaned up after themselves, and asked preferential questions of me about how to approach projects instead of just drilling and destroying willy-nilly. I'm super happy with how it all turned out. We have some drywall repair to do anyway from a previous leak in the bedroom, so having some small rectangles cut through the wall were hardly a big deal. I plan on using T&D again in the near future and recommend them to anyone.

My ceilings are 21 feet high so scaffolding was needed to remove a fan and change out several LEDs both on my ceiling and balcony. (Note that other contractors' estimates really botched the plan on this.) Greg and Alex were amazing! They were so fast and efficient that my project came in under budget. Greg is a true expert when it comes to electrical work. Having worked with electrical contractors for decades with some mixed results, I can't recommend T&D Electrical highly enough. Their price was very reasonable.

I happened to find Hangout lighting when I googled lighting stores in Chicago. I fell in love with the pictures I saw so I quickly emailed H.L. Stef got back to me and I set up an appointment to talk about what I needed for my dining space. I gave her the measurements and she explained the algorithm for finding the right amount of light for your space. That was one of my concerns. I was worried that the amount of light would not be enough. Thanks to Stef the light is perfect and we were able to add a dimmer because it is very bright at night. I went with the amber bulbs and I love the copper touch. So beautiful! I was so lucky to get all of this done a week before the quarantine in March.

It can feel overwhelming at first, but Mr. Pechianu is an excellent guide, with more than 44 years of experience. Yes, we talked. Of course, do some preliminary homework before visiting: bring photos of the location, explain what you're looking for, and consider your budget. Mr. Pechianu will help narrow down your options and show you whether they're available on one of the floors or on the store's website. I'm also happy with the after-purchase service. For example, after the sale, I needed to contact Peter, and he returned my call and emails right away. Keep in mind that a third party makes these fixtures, so ask about delivery times and review the return policy.

Neville…read moreis everything you could hope for in an electrician: talented, easy to work with, reasonably priced and very friendly. We had a difficult time getting quotes from other vendors, but Neville responded right away with a comprehensive text including his reasonable fee structure and details for scheduling, which was done easily via text. What separates Neville from other electricians is rather than simply addressing whatever single issue you're having, Neville takes more of a systems approach to your home. We called concerning a single fuse we thought was overloaded, and came to find out the whole house was wired to only about three or four separate fuses (we could already tell the house wasn't wired very well from when we'd replaced a few light switches). Neville essentially "re-plumbed" portions of our home, properly distributing the various loads on the fuses based on location and usage, while also upgrading a lot of wiring. None of this was an "upsell", on the contrary, most of it was work we'd already suspected needed to be done before his diagnosis. All the work that was done was discussed and explained up front, with estimations for how every many hours each would take. We haven't blown a fuse since anywhere in the house and take comfort in knowing our electrical system is Neville approved.

Crest has been a Chicago staple and when I finally was…read moreready to upgrade my lighting again I went back to the place that had been tried and true for me years ago. But it seems that era has ended. I came in a hot mess, I have no design skills. I relied on the sales person to help me and I thought she was amazing. She was kind, patient and seemed to really get me and my condo style - benig "vintage" and wanting to modernize was beyond me. She was super helpful and made me feel like she knew exactly what I needed. That was until I left the showroom. I ordered two ceiling fans from her that day, it wasn't cheap. I also ordered one I'd found on my own online. I hired someone reputable to install them for me and I was all set. But then they left and within days the two I purchased from Crest (different manufacturers) were both on the fritz. Hard to believe for sure, but both manufacturers agreed this was a fluke and they both had inherent issues requiring replacement. And then I had to replace them, which meant I had to pay for the labor again. One of the fixtures is in a room I hadn't needed the fan for in the first year. But then I did, and it didn't work. At that same time I noticed the on/off switch wasn't working properly either. I called the manufacturer and they agreed it was a warranty claim and to call Crest to replace the wall switch. Not something I feel comfortable doing on my own. When I talked to Crest, they said they'd order me a part and well... they did but never called to tell me it had come in. I called on my own three weeks later and they said it was there waiting for me. I verified I could wait for the weekend to get it. Of course they are closed on Sundays so It had to be during the short Saturday hours. I raced to get there in the window only to find a lot of confusion. It wasn't waiting for me at all. The woman who said she'd call me was there and surprised I was asking questions. She said she hadn't heard back from the manufacturer to answer my question about paying for labor, and they all just threw their hands up and said they couldn't help me because the manager wasn't there. Let's just say it's the end of an era and I won't be back for business in the future. Good luck with your purchases after you leave the store.
