When I walked in here I was overwhelmed with the old retro elements like a mimeograph, type set machines, beaten and worn solid wood furniture from the turn of the century. I felt I was more in a museum than a print shop. I got the warm fuzzies, and that's good. David was able to help us to 100% satisfaction. He understood our concerns and needs. He also explained we could use another type of paper he carries to improve our product quality. And the price was very competitive to what I've paid. When I saw the final product I was very pleased. So glad to find someone knowledgable, customer friendly and could take care of our rush job in the 2hour time limit. What ever your printing project is don't mess around. The owner, Alex, is a nice dude, but a poor communicator. My laptop was having crashes, and I…read moredropped it off in early June for troubleshooting/diagnosis. I called after several weeks and he promised he'd have the problem diagnosed within the next couple days and call me back. Several additional weeks went by and I called again with the same response, and then once more a few weeks later- a total of 2 months of wait time without any progress or evidence that anything was done at all. I eventually gave up and got my laptop back myself to look at. Googling my error messages indicated that my RAM was faulty, and after replacing the RAM (a 15-minute procedure), my laptop works fine. It took me ~30 minutes of total active time to troubleshoot and solve this problem that I had previously waited 2 months for the owner to fix. I'd guess that Alex was overcommitted with fixing other machines to focus on mine, which is fine if he told me a realistic estimate (i.e. "I'm really busy right now, but check back in a month and I'll give you an update). Instead I got drip-fed inaccurate timeline estimates. Overall, I find it difficult to reccomend going to this business to get your problem fixed unless you have a really easy software issue to diagnose/fix on the spot.

Though the college's relationship with Mid-American extends further back than this, in the four years that I've been regularly working with them, there have been no significant problems and many great successes. They always make sure that we're not paying more than we have to--even if it means telling us that some job we've offered them would be cheaper at Kinko's. They've gone to bat for us when we've had issues with postal permits and delivery issues. They routinely think of slightly different ways of doing thing than the ones we initially envisioned that make our lives easier, our publications better, and our bills less expensive. Our contact there, Bruce, is so integral a part of how we get our work done that he may as well be another employee of the college, half the time. At my company, we aren't big enough to have an in-house print shop--and we're small enough to highly value knowing who we're working with so that person can be a colleague, rather than a salesman, to us. If you're concerned about environmental impact, Mid-American uses soy-based inks and can use Forest Stewartship Council-approved paper--and can get your publications FSC-certified. Print FSC and Soy Ink logos on your publications, and you can make a statement to to your Green customers. Can't recommend them highly enough.
