This place is a museum . . . where you can buy everything. It's overwhelming, gorgeous, messy, organized and has some amazing furniture. Seriously, you need a bigger house so you can use that giant gong to summon your dinner guests. Just outrageous . . . and the prices are not bad. Furniture, lighting, art, jewelry . . .all from Asia. This place is like nothing I have ever seen! It is full of cool, life size statues of Indian gods, hand-carved four post bed frames, ethnic jewelry, furniture, and thousands of other one of a kind pieces. I could walk around this store for hours. I am in amazement to how they even got some of the pieces to fit in this place. Please check Artasia out if you are ever in the Third Ward. Every time I visit this place (yes, it is indeed a visit, trust me) I leave with an insatiable desire to completely change the style of my apartment and embrace the zen, yin and yang, luxury, calm and voluptuousness offered by Artasia. Not gonna happen but boy do I love their stuff!!!! And I use the word 'stuff' on purpose. This place is BURSTING with items. Clothes, jewelry, statues, masks, decorative dishes, giant gongs, chairs, dressers, tables, mirrors, tables, chest of drawers, wardrobes, sinks, Japanese wooden tubs,..................you name it. They have it. Everything is beautiful and speaks of another place, sometimes another time (they have antiques, mainly on the lower level). I want it all. The smells, the textures, the colors, the intricate artwork....you cannot help to touch, caress and dream. A must every time I find myself in Milwaukee. read more

Overwhelmingly beautiful and insanely impressive. Succinctly, this is Artasia. When friends of mine from out of town come to our fair city for a visit, I always try to think of a plan for us that's innovative and uniquely Milwaukee in nature. My go-to, Third Ward plan always includes Artasia, always. Artasia is a huge, multi-level space that's filled with beautiful, authentic Asian clothing, furniture, art, jewlery, etc., etc., etc. The space itself is warm, loft-like, and open; and I honestly couldn't even begin to try and cover the breadth of Artasia's inventory. It's mind-boggling. With a feel more like that of an museum or gallery and less a retail establishment, Artasia's wares are, in fact, all for sale. The antique Chinese wardrobe in the corner, delicately handpainted and intricately forged in 1743? It's yours for thousands. The looming, cast iron bust of Buddha? Bet you can't carry it on your own, but it's yours for the right price. I recently purchased a beautiful, Tibetan tapestry at Artasia with the intention of displaying at on my wall. It was affordable and it is authentic, and I love this. Exercising restraint, I did not purchase the two oxidized, antique fixtures that had once been doorknobs for another of my seemingly-inspired-yet-directionless craft projects. This place is breath-taking and one-of-a-kind, and you must must visit. I love that Artasia is in Milwaukee...it's the kind of place that reminds me exactly how lucky we are to have such interesting and well-done establishments present in the 414. read more

While I was at the Third Ward Summer Sizzle, I was lured into Artasia. I was just in awe of the two levels of Asian jewelry, furniture, clothes, statues, toys, etc. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The upper level is an art gallery for a local artist who does the most amazing sculptures. I had my 12 year old son with me. He hates shopping, but he loved Artasia. Any place that can hold his interest for more than 15 minutes is tops in my book. I am so happy I stopped in. I will be going back. read more

This place is a living, breathing, constantly morphing art and cultural museum, but unlike the Smithsonian- everything in here has a price tag neatly attached. Every time I step into this place I feel that I am stepping into a storage room of a museum who just received a huge shipment of artifacts from somewhere in Asia where it needs to be categorized and placed out on the floor. Basically, this place is one huge, beautiful mess of all things Asian art. Pretty much anything that is aesthetic to the eye, ear, or even nose (they sell incense!) and comes from the abundant expanse that is Asia can be found here. Massive Buddhas tucked into every corner or spot that can fit such monstrous pieces into the ever shrinking space. Small handcrafted jewelry pieces. Paintings, weapons, scrolls, old Hong Kong movie posters, silk dresses, wood-carved masks, religious artifacts, books, music, and some really wonderful pieces of furniture. Many objects centuries old, and other things made just last month. About every nation in Asia is represented, so if there is a specific type of object or furniture piece you are looking for, you can bet this place probably has it, or at least knows how to get it for you. If ever up in the Third Ward (and there are many reasons to go- the Public Market, Summer Fest Grounds, etc.), do yourself a favor and plan on spending a good amount of time here. I have to say that first off, this store had nothing that I would really purchase for my home, but it was so cool to walk around in there and look at all the awesome merchandise from the Orient. If your thing is in this style, you will hit the jackpot here. Even though it's not really in my taste pallet, I can certainly appreciate it. Really great store! Place is multiple stories of Asian antiques, artifacts, and just plan cool stuff. I was introduced to this place by a fellow Yelper (Erich M) roughly a year ago and have been back multiple times to check the place out. They have amazing statues, cabinets, masks, knick-knacks, and other stuff that is really cool. With that being said, the prices are high. If you are looking at something there that is bigger than what can fit you in your hand, you are paying in the hundreds of dollars. They do have sales every so often and I have learned you can sort of negotiate prices there. Great location in the third ward and the basement is jam packed with items that you can spend hours looking at. I definitely recommend this place to my friends to check out before buying anything new. read more

I'm trying to find good antique stores in the Milwaukee down to Chicago area. This one was right next to where I ate lunch recently, so I had to check it out! For some reason, I never thought about that this store would only have Asian stuff for sale--I mean, duh, the name. Regardless, when I walked in, that was totally apparent. When you walk into the store, it a gallery with mostly jewelry but other small items as well. I was a little confused for a minute because I'd skimmed other reviews and knew they had a huge shop, but wasn't seeing it. Then I saw the staircase that led down to the rest of the gallery. The basement has an amazing collection of Asian furniture and decor. There were a lot of dressers and wardrobes in various designs and configurations as well as a lot of chairs and smaller tables. The prices probably averaged around $1500, I saw some as low as $700 and some as high as $2000. The prices for the chairs and smaller tables hovered around $350. I thought the prices were generally good but I am not an expert. I'm only describing part of the selection here, if you have any interest in Asian, well, anything, you must make time to go to Artasia. read more

I also bring my out of town guests here, it's the second best art collection in town, right behind the Milwaukee Art Museum itself. In fact, the only better Asian art collection I've seen in the Midwest is in Chicago's Art Institute. Too many Americans think Asian only means the Asian Far East, but this eclectic collection does indeed come from all over Asia, and as expensive as much of it is, the prices seem fair and reasonable. This is not a place for young children, but I do recommend it for anyone who is interested in Asian history, art, or travel, who can decorate with a generous budget, or if you like to daydream about being Indiana Jones. read more

So, my ladyfriend thinks this place--despite the big portrait of the Dalai Lama in full view--is part of a far-reaching conspiracy on the part of the Chinese government to lull Westerners into a false sense of security and appreciation for Chinese culture. I think it's a kind of cool place that sells Chinese stuff at prices I could never justify spending. It's still cool, though. The basement is brim-packed with artifacts and just cool stuff. It's the sort of place where I would take somebody on a whim. Like, China comes up in conversation, and I go "Oh hey, I know this place that we should check out! It's really cool." You know? The staff is pretty friendly too considering that the majority of people who circulate through here probably don't spend a dime. read more

This place is amazing! The owner has been collecting antiques from China since the 80s. Everything is authentic and amazing. I love the rings and jewelry upstairs, then downstair is almost like a museum. You could really get lost looking at all the things from tea lots to Chinese puppets, statues and antique funiture. This is a place in the Third Ward I think everyone should experience at least once! read more
