We took home a slice of Cherry Merlot pie and a slice of Blueberry Lemon cake. The Blueberry Lemon cake was delicious--moist, light, and refreshing. The Cherry Merlot pie was good too, though it tasted mostly like cherry. I was hoping for just a bit more of the Merlot flavor to come through. The service was friendly, and there's a great variety of treats, so there's truly something for everyone. We'll definitely stop back the next time we're in the area.

They also have the option to write a note of encouragement or inspiration to someone suffering from mental illness. I thought that was a sweet gesture and liked participating in that. They have a wide selection of seasonal merchandise throughout the year with the holidays being their specialty. Be sure to shop extra early for Christmas decor. Zealous shoppers will have the place ravaged and cleaned out well before the "Happy Fall Y'all" signs have hit other stores' shelves. The Lewisville location is not as well kept as some of the other ones in the area. Plus, the lines are consistently long and slow moving to reach gruff employees at the registers. Evidently, that doesn't deter customers since they have outlived Joann's across the parking lot and continue to thrive with a Michael's a couple doors down. More impressively, they've managed to do it despite the fact that they're closed on Sundays. As a mecca for all things arts and crafts related, they take full advantage by charging top dollar for their goods. Therefore, it's not economical to shop outside of sales and/or without coupons.

Kinokuniya is a great, authentic spot for those who love all things Japanese. From manga, anime,…read moreanime goodies, anime soundtracks, art books, CDs, novels, gundams, language books, and even cute stationary. If you like to collect manga and want to see a huge variety of selections, this is the place. I really like that they also have a selection of manga in Japanese! The art book aisle is awesome. It's hard to find art books in other bookstores, and even places like Barnes and Noble won't have a selection as varied as Kinokuniya. Despite the endless aisles of manga, I've surprisingly noticed that they're missing a few decently known manga. Unless I keep missing it, I've never seen The Case Study of Vanitas in their aisle, but they have the author's other work, Pandora Hearts, in there, for example. I would also say Kinokuniya is limited with their selection of anime goodies. I like that they're all very much authentic and different from your typical anime store selling pop figures and easy to find Bandai/Banpresto stuff, but their blind box selections are also becoming easy to find in other places because it's all the mainstream shows. Overall, if you're looking to expand your collection, this is the place to go.
