While I was there, I have a change to speak with Bradley (super nice guy) and see alot of their picture framing work. I was impressed with their work and can confirm that the workmanship was good quality since I was raised in my mother's picture frame shop. If you need help with framing, I highly recommend you try them out.

Just put up my newly framed bathroom mirrors and love them! Was doing a remodel and really wanted…read moreto upgrade the plain builder mirrors but the cost was crazy. My sister recommended Real Framing. They made frames for the existing mirrors that look perfect with the new lights, paint, and hardware. It was a very tight fit with the new lights so there was zero wiggle room. Because of the weight I didn't want to move them out of the house so the owner provided expert guidance on mounting and securing the frames to the mirrors then onto the walls. They provided the hardware to do it right. It's an awesome upgrade...would NOT have turned out so well without the frames. And I can still afford Starbucks.

A very old beautifully framed painting that my grandmother gave me years ago was seriously damaged…read moreby someone who had dropped it smashing the frame. Before that day a roommate had somehow knocked it off the wall putting a hole in the canvas of the painting. I never thought I would be able to get it fixed and restored. After one very badly done restoration attempt, I met Kay Vaughn Cross who owned a framing and gallery shop in Irving, Texas near Dallas. She worked in an auction house and was in Los Angeles for a specific auction. We had originally met online. She told me that she did restoration work and appraisals and offered to work on my damaged painting and frame. So, I gave it all to her and they took it back to Dallas and to her shop. It took much longer than anticipated - life can get in the way sometimes - but it did not matter. We were not in any hurry. When she finally shipped it back to us - now living in Washington State - and I was stunned at how beautiful it looked once again. There is no way anyone could possibly know the extent of the damage by looking at it hanging proudly on our wall. Neither my husband nor I can tell where it was ever damaged either. Kay did a fantastic and incredible job restoring it back to its original glory. Thank you!! If anyone needs restoration or framing done, we highly recommend Cross Gallery, LLC, Custom Picture Framing & Fine Art Restorations. We received two other pieces of art that were framed there that were exceptionally well done as well. Can't recommend them enough!

Cross gallery expertly executed a mounting frame to fit snugly within the opening and then installed hangers on the back of the panel itself; now the panel rests flush against the fireplace opening as if it had been made for it. It is an "anything-goes" art gallery featuring the work(s) of local artists, Texan artists and the work of "guests" who are national and international. But mostly up and coming Dallas artists. From $150 to $1200, you may be able to find your faux-Pollack or Basquiat (if you will) to hang on your wall (if you are so inclined.) Or just come here to look at the work of some VERY talented artists local to you. Not high art, not low art, I feel that 500X simply defies any category or labeling. It's just cool and pretty social. It is located in an oddball part of downtown that is either Deep Ellum or Fair Park or the unnamed crevice in between the two. There is no cost for parking around the building or in the vicinity, just be wary and pay attention to any no parking or tow signs. Otherwise, park where you can (no difficulties that I encountered.) Bring cash. This gallery has a 'limited' selection of beer and wine (mostly wine) and they tend to run out later in the evening as it is not a "bar." I would describe it as bohemian at it's most debonair, but built upon the most solid foundation that has apparently been here in Dallas for 30 years to date (the building it is located in has been around since 1916.) If you want to go out on the weekend and do something VERY different and meet VERY different people, go here, you'll probably end up enjoying yourself. And if you like art, or you're a patron of art, buy a painting and support the local art scene. There's some good stuff in there. Enjoy.
