They did an amazing job framing our French posters. These originals are old and pretty fragile, but they knew exactly how to handle them. Jessica helped us pick the perfect frame. The price was very reasonable compared to other frame shops we visited, and the selection of frames was far more impressive. They even helped us schedule someone to deliver and hang our new frames! I can not recommend the Framesmith enough. They will do a great job with any piece!

Jessica took her time helping lay out different matting and frame widths until my art work was how I envisioned it to be.

Then, tried to charge me more money bc they claimed their supplier messed up (the reason for the extra money kept changing). I actually paid it but they ended up calling me to refund it when I asked them to text me a reason for the additional payment (again, their story kept changing so I wanted a firm reason as I was splitting the cost with someone else). My guess is this is a family business. Everyone was very friendly and their work was good, but the delay, then subsequently asking me for more money without a consistent explanation, was surprising. (I wonder if they just started working on it the days before delivery and realized they didn't have the right frame and tried to off load the last minute shipping costs to me)

I brought three vintage posters to this shop a few weeks ago to get framed. During drop off, I made…read moreit very clear that these were irreplaceable, as they're originals that belonged to my mother who had recently passed away. In fact, one of the workers on staff pointed out how valuable the posters were. On the original pickup date, they called to let me know that one of the three was not done, because they were waiting for parts to come in. After an extra week of waiting, they returned the final poster with some sort of paint/putty splotched on the last print. I'm assuming they delayed getting the poster back because they were trying to repair it. My irreplaceable print was not only returned behind schedule, but is now ruined. I'm starting to wonder if this is even the original print. The contrast and coloring is off, and given the delay getting the poster back, I wouldn't be surprised to find out that they either ruined the original or sold it off.

I was considering getting a jersey framed here, but decided on someone else who specializes in jerseys instead. Otherwise, I would've likely got it done here as well, especially for the price they quoted me. The item I did have framed here was a portrait. Overall, I was left satisfied with the craftsmanship of the frame. Also, I was definitely impressed with the service and time it took to get it back to me as well!

I've had some disappointing (to say the least) surprises at other frame shops so I'm always hesitant to trust them. E.g.- Once someone cut off the deckled edge of a linocut print. Another shop decided that the wooden frame that I picked out needed to be touched up with red "accent" paint. (Neither of these choices were previously discussed with me.) Having artwork framed should be straightforward, easy, and ultimately you need to know that your items will be kept safe and that the integrity of the piece will not be compromised. So when I relocated to Dallas I took a couple of prints in to test the waters and now I fully trust Art & Frame Expo with anything! I've been going here for years. At this point I've taken well over a dozen items in for framing and I've found them to be nothing but professional. I'm always excited to work with them and trust their opinion as well. Customer service is top notch! They do beautiful, high quality work and for those that think it's too expensive, all I can say is- you get what you pay for.

So, is it called 1976 because many believe it is the most consequential year in the history of modern China? (It's Chinese-American owned). Or is the birth year of one of the Law family siblings? I'd guess it's bridging old school 1976 analog craftsmanship with the digital revolution-led letterpress and screen printing, since the store is the intersection of traditional craftsmanship and modern design, with a fully operational letterpress studio (they produce their own stationery), housing vintage, antique printing presses. They also curate independent art and host hands-on workshops. So, the name We Are 1976 suggests a collective identity rooted in a specific era, and their tagline "our dear assembly" is likely their way of saying, "This is the group of people, machines, and beautiful objects we have gathered together." Honestly, I just went in looking for a bathroom. They are 1976 but I was #2.

(Disclaimer: When I visited Art Frame Wholesale (AFW), I was sloppily dressed in flip flops,…read moret-shirt, & shorts made of jersey material - So, I was looking somewhat "less fortunate.") I based my decision to visit AFW solely on the positive Yelp* reviews, and I was sure after reading the reviews I would be satisfied with AFW. Annnd... I aaammm, BUT... It was shortly before Christmas when I took my Alamo print in for custom framing and, as one might expect, AFW was pretty busy. As that was the case, I patiently waited... and waited... and waited. After about twenty minutes of waiting, I positioned myself directly in front of the young lady at the counter. The young lady finally looked up at me and asked if I needed assistance... In short, I became so frustrated at the young Lady's apparent cluelessness to my having been standing nearly in front of her for twenty minutes, I expressed my frustration for the long wait and left. It took a couple of days for me to regain a willingness to give AFW another chance to earn my business. After all, there were such sterling Yelp* reviews of the place. When I did return to AFW, I dealt solely with Tone, who did show a very sincere interest in me as a customer. Tone took time to try and find the perfect combinations of frame, mats, glass, etc. to make my print unique and to my liking. After some delay, because of my schedule and the busy Christmas schedule at AFW, my project was being worked on. I remained patient because I wanted the framing to be done correctly and without flaws. It took much longer than I would have liked overall due to an internal miscommunication at AFW about which colors I wanted and where in the final framing. In spite of the delay, Tone made every effort to keep me informed, which I very much appreciated! When I finally did go to retrieve my print, I was a little disappointed at the placement of the fillet and the absence of the exposed white on one of the mats. In this regard, I take responsibility because I made some assumptions based on framing I had done previously at a different framing studio. Because I considered this to be my fault, I did not make mention of it and decided I would live with it. Mainly, because I felt if I demanded a change, Tone would have been gracious enough to disassemble the framing a second time, and make it the way I preferred or expected. Instead, I opted to ask for a discount due to the overall time to receive the work and at that, Tone approved the discount on the final cost. All things considered, I am pleased with the final product. I am satisfied that Tone did everything I asked to make me happy with AFW. I would use AFW again in the future and I would be very explicit in my wishes, to preclude any misunderstandings. I also would recommend AFW to others with the caveat, you MUST be decided on what you want and you must either convey that exactly or, you must understand what is going to happen with your art work. Meaning, if you give artist liberty to Tone or others at AFW to design your framing, have them explain where any fillet, mat, white showing or not showing on mats, will appear when finished. Live well. Be well. Cheers! Anyway
