This is in the Friendly Hills of Whittier. There was a decent size parking lot but it can get full quickly, I did not see street parking, but you can correct me if I am wrong. I did not have to pay to park. There are trash cans and benches in parts of the trail. There are many benches along the trail and many nice photo opportunities with clear views of the sky and trees with elevation. I did not see bathrooms while I was here, I may need to look again. I saw a sign that read, No horses and No bikes. From this location, you are not far from restaurants in Uptown Whittier, Norwalk, and the western side of the SGV.

Great place to Hike! (Arroyo Pescadero Trailhead) Love it! Pretty easy trail not to hard. Just remember to hide your things inside your cars!! But overall you'll have a good time hiking

Beautiful trail! Complete the loop in about an hour. Park at your own risk!!!! When I finished walking the trails I witnessed a car that was broken into. :( Small parking lot and those that can't find parking end up parking on the streets.

As part of the Whittier trail system, the arroyo pescador trail presents a huge amount of trails from your basic to elite running jogging or hiking capabilities. Consisting of a small parking spot, often you have to wait a few minutes, but worth the time, you are treated to park that's clean accessible with a porta potty and a working! Water fountain. Trails are from 2.5 miles up to 8 miles, depending on you choosing your path. Great signs are great people. However, there are trails marked that are not for bikers. Please follow the rules. Overall, nature is lovely here, and the trails are moderate skills at times.

A simple ~2 mile hike with some uphill and downhill. Not too many shades or much of a view. Still a decent workout; my hamstrings were sore the next day! You may miss the parking entrance if you don't slow down on Colima. Only ~20 parking spots available. If there are no parking spot, you will probably need to park on Colima.

Died. Ok well not really but felt like it! I decided to start my hiking adventures again. I need to get in shape and be more active! Sometimes the gym is boring lol I hadn't been Here in about 3 years and to be honest I hadn't hiked in 3 years either lol so I asked my old hiking buddy if she was down to go and thankfully she said YES! We agreed on getting there at 6am. Well, it was closed. Was this a sign that we shouldn't hike!? Lol no it wasn't. We waited since the sign read it was open from sunrise to sunset and it was still pitch black out. Sure enough, the ranger got there around 6:45am and let us in. There are 2 hikes on here. You can go to the left which is a small loop about 2 miles total. You do go down then back up again. Or you can take the 2nd one which is more dirt and the sun is a killer most of the way. This one is almost 5 miles. The uphills will kill you if you're not used to it lol. There is almost no shade so make sure you put sunscreen and take a cap! If possible water. Takes abt 1.5hrs to go and come back. This side of the hike can be scary since it seems empty so I suggest to not go alone. Reception can be bad. Batteries die quickly. I put my phone on airplane mode while I'm the trail. You will see bunnies, deer and other rodents randomly run across so be careful. Also horse riders go through sooo, you will see poop on the trail. We've also seen snakes. There are signs that read "No Dogs" but ppl take them. The hike is great for beginners. If you are in great shape then it's perfect to run it like I've seen ppl do. Parking is limited so good luck! There is a portable potty on the parking lot in case you need. Let's take care of our hiking trails and not leave trash please.

Arroyo Pescadero Park is a beautiful get away from the city, with in a city. It consists of three trails that include: 1. Arroyo Pescadero Trail: 2 miles 2. Arroyo San Miguel Trail 1.8 miles 3. Deer Loop Trail 0.8 miles, Overall my man, his sis, & I enjoyed this place very much. There's much incline here & best believe your legs will feel it (at least us none experienced hikers definitely will) Some of the trails are really uneven, but hey nature is nature get used to it. My main concern was the parking area, & after seeing some comments many others know what I'm talking about. I suggest if you come park at your own risk or park at a nearby neighborhood.

***PARK AT YOIR OWN RISK*** I am giving this place two stars because while it's a beautiful place and a nice moderate hike, wonderful especially in the spring, the parking area is NOT safe. I had my car windows broken there last week as did a truck parked next to my vehicle. I made a police report and was told by the officer that came out to take the report that this is a common occurrence in this parking lot. If this is indeed a common occurrence the least that this place can do is place signage stating as much so that hikers and new visitors can be extra vigilant or choose to park in an alternate area. They place signs about snakes and coyotes in the area. Maybe place a sign about the vandalizing meth heads too! According to the officer who claimed to frequent this hiking trail with his wife, the best place to park is in the neighborhood directly below the parking lot off of Colima. I would like to return to this hiking trail but after having to pay close to $200 for glass replacement I will definitely not be parking here!

Well, you don't have to go down to Lake Elsinore for the superbloom because the bloom of mustard flowers is right here in Whittier! Nice place for a hike but the parking area is right off the fast moving Colima Blvd. after coming from down the southbound hill. Also, be careful about leaving your stuff in your car and take a few photos of the surrounding area before you step on the trails. This area is a prime target for vehicle break-ins. The trail itself is up an incline that turns westward and has a nice view of the skyline. You might even be one with nature before the hike is over. We saw a black snake that skitted across the trail in front of us. It's been so dry over the years and to see so many flowers is fantastic! Enjoy it while it lasts because it gets awfully dry in the summer.

Pretty much had the trails to ourselves on a Friday morning

I hiked it last week with my canine partner. Location- not too far from my house which is good but this area has no major freeways nearby so you're on streets a lot; located across the street from a little league; small parking lot with plenty of open spots on a weekday morning...I did see some broken glass from car windows Trail- there is a map at the trailhead with some covered benches; we did the Deer Loop and Arroyo Pescadero trails which was about 2.7 miles and about 1 hour; we couldn't do Arroyo San Miguel since that trail is off limits to dogs; the trails are wide and weren't crowded on the day we went...some decent views but really dry vegetation and excessive dog poop *this would be a good place for trail running practice but not a great spot to hike

Located on the west side of Colima Rd and north of Mar Vista Ave. The park is minutes from my residence and so convenient. Parking is limited but I've never encountered an issue of not finding a parking spot. The Park has three trails but only the Arroyo Pescadero trail and deer loop trail are currently open. Together the two trails combined are 2.8 miles in length and have elevation changes of 180 feet I've seen snakes, coyotes and rabbits so far but there are signs warning of mountain lions! On clear days there are terrific views of south and even Catalina. Really enjoy the trail BC it's not overly crowded and near home. I'll be returning on a regular basis.

Great hiking trails no matter which direction you choose! Gates open at 6:00am and several parking spaces are available right at the trailhead. Good for walking, hiking, running and nature trips.

It's a decent little trail. Only thing besides the clear lazyness of people w/dogs not picking up their poop, the horse droppings (its expected) & the unfortunate of some ghetto folks messing up the experience..(i.e. tagging through the tunnel and the airheads that have to smoke out there because its secluded) Come on man, that's not nature!! And what about the younger kids that go hiking with their parents? Sucks for them to have see and smell it. You will also see lots of snakes. We must have seen a whole bunch the day we went & as long as you leave them alone, your Ok. There are pretty flowers & cactus plants in the spring and the view on top of the end of the loop was well worth visiting. I don't know if I'd feel comfortable going by myself though, feels real secluded. While there is a small parking lot, it doesn't really get filled up. If reading my review made you yawn, imagine what the hike did for me. Lol, yep not one of my favorites and I did no justice whatsoever for it. :)

I just say this because there are so many different types of people who come here, hikers, runners, mountain bikers and cyclist especially who were whizzing by us like lightning. The trail we started on was off the side of the road a bit and we parked near a residential area that had a few parking spots, we were able to fit in at the end but a lot of signs were posted that parking is by permit only. The trail we took had little to no shade and it was very hot so if you're new to this trial, take some water with you for sure! There was a huge incline up to the water tower, about 3 hills it felt like and then we arrived at the water tower, took some pictures of the view and hiked back down! There seems to be other places to enter the trials and different trails you can take, we just followed the directions here on this Yelp review and initially went passed the arrived destination because we were new to the area and didn't realize we had to park off the side of the road, some people in the other reviews mention a parking lot BUT these directions and address do not have a parking lot. Summer months they close at 6pm, and winter fall months close at 5pm. We came here to get out of our area for a little while and fell in love with this place! It's such a good place to come to workout, there were all different types of people here, families, elderly, couples, single people, hiking groups, dog walkers, bikers, and runners, or people working out hard! Such a cool hike! We will definitely come back! Was very hot today, maybe we will come again on a cooler day! We seen some spiders, lizards, lots of dog poop (I guess owners don't pick up after their dogs here much) lookout! Honestly I don't think this hike is for the weak, it was super hard for me but for my husband a breeze so I guess it just depends on your body. Enjoy!

(Which are also the rules of the trail) The views here were beautiful and the paths were well maintained. Make sure you bring in your own water. There are no bathrooms available and trashcans are limited to the beginning of the trail. I did notice there was lots of trash along the path, please make sure that you take your trash with you and if you own a dog, please do not just bag it and leave it on the side of the trail. The trail is clean and quiet, with restrooms available near the entrance and easy parking (a mix of onsite and street parking). It's also well-marked, so you don't have to worry about getting lost. Sycamore Canyon is open from 9 AM to 6 PM in summer and 9 AM to 5 PM during the rest of the year. Just make sure to bring water, as there aren't any drinking fountains along the trail. Right now the cherry blossoms are in full, breathtaking bloom, turning parts of the park into a dreamy pink wonderland. The wildlife is thriving too: squirrels galore that are so bold they'll walk right up to your feet if you sit still and stay calm. On warmer days I've spotted rattlesnakes scurrying across the trails, so I always recommend staying in the middle of the paths as a safety precaution. From the main entrance at Colima Road, you can choose the paved walkway or head straight for the dirt trails depending on your mood. I usually make my way toward the horse stables and equestrian area -- watching the horses get fed or running around their enclosures is one of my favorite parts. Just be mindful of the occasional big mounds of horse droppings on the trails; it's a small price to pay for the beauty. The park is generally very clean, with plenty of trash cans scattered throughout. There are numerous benches, picnic areas, fire pits perfect for groups, a children's playground, and even a seasonal creek with several charming wooden bridges crossing directly over it (though the water is pretty dry now that the rainy season is over). You'll also notice signs posted along the trails warning about bobcats and mountain lions. I've been coming here regularly for six months and haven't heard or seen any myself, but I've seen quite a few hikers carrying pepper spray as a precaution. Just be safe out there. Weekends get busy with families celebrating birthdays and enjoying the outdoors, but it's all part of the lively atmosphere. For dog lovers, there are two fantastic off-leash dog parks right near the front entrance -- one for large dogs and one for medium/small dogs. Outside of those areas, dogs must be on leash per the signs. The hilltop trails offer absolutely stunning panoramic views that make every visit worthwhile. My only heads-up: the park is officially closed on Mondays and Tuesdays (per LA County rules), but a lot of locals park across the street at the nearby mall and walk in through the gates anyway. If you're in the Rowland Heights/Hacienda Heights area and looking for a beautiful regional park with trails, nature, horses, cherry blossoms, and those lovely wooden bridges over the creek, I highly recommend Schabarum. Just bring water, wear good shoes, keep an eye out for those snakes in the summer, and stay aware on the trails! 5/5 -- I'll definitely be back soon.

Park amenities are minimal, but you can find multiple restrooms with water fountains and picnic tables to sit. When I went, there wasn't a big crowd, and the green space is already expansive. When the weather isn't hot, it's calming to take a walk along the paths and grass to visit different areas of the park.
