There are also benches and covered seating areas, which make it easy to spend a good amount of time there comfortably. The park is very family-friendly, with a playground, pickleball courts, a volleyball area, and even two separate dog parks--one for larger dogs and one for smaller dogs. Nearby, there's also a community pool and a sports area where you can play games like baseball. They also host festivals throughout the year, and during Christmas, the decorations are especially beautiful and add a nice festive touch. Parking is convenient and free, which is a huge plus. There's also a smaller college located nearby, which adds to the community feel of the area. Overall, it's a well-maintained, welcoming park with something for everyone.

Tips: - Park I'm the North Ramp Lot but walk down to the marina, not the North Ramp! (we made that mistake) - We walked down and back but there is also a free shuttle available about every ten mins. Drivers work for tips. - The walk back up to the parking lots is quite steep and on a hot day after paddle boarding we regretted opting to walk about half way up - Two hours seems like the best amount of time to explore a good amount of the lake and paddle back to the marina without being too tired - Restrooms are available right next to the store front where you rent.

However, the lake purely is for the view. There is no swimming, fishing, boating or any other recreational activity allowed on the lake. There weren't even benches around the lake. Although there are signs around the area to not feed the ducks, word is that many residents disregard this rule and proceed to feed the ducks. Therefore, when the ducks see humans walking around, they start to follow. That was entertaining. It was nice to walk around and explore the neighborhood, but this is not a traditional lake, as this is purely for looks.

There is also a library right next door - cool, but what an odd location - seems they plan to expand the housing nearby. Okay but about the hiking and the trails and site itself - great. The entire time we were visiting the area we were so impressed by the upkeep of the trails and the abundance of facilities and helpful information. This is an extensive recreation area with a lot of trails to choose, including convenient loops, so you can decide how much you are up for. We ventured up to the waterfall, which of course was not active due to the dry weather; however, there was a small pool there which was stunning. The trails are well kept and there is a mix of cement and dirt trails. Must note, though, that it's a bit quiet and remote, so can be a magnet for crime - we were warned upon entering one parking lot that someone had just been there breaking car windows. We moved on to a different lot and didn't have any issues. So just make sure there are other cars and people around, to be on the safe side. PS there is also a small nature center next to the library; both are prior to the main entrance of the Recreation Area. The nature center has some information, specimens/artefacts and a small gift shop. PPS the staff at the Recreation Area entrance were very friendly and helpful.
