When it comes to haircuts for men, Arrow is about as good as it gets. And with all their locations, you've got a lot of options in the Triangle to go get your hair trimmed (Charlotte, you're next!). Book and appointment online up to a week or two out and you're good to go. Arrow Ridgewood is located in the busy Whole Foods plaza off of Wade Avenue in the center. Pop in 5 minutes early and you'll be offered a beer before your appointment. The stylists here are all well trained and specialize in men's hair and beards, although I will occasionally see a woman here. My stylist Steve is excellent and I've been with him for years. They'll listen to what you want or you can put your hair in their experienced hands like I do. Overall super happy with my cuts at Arrow Ridgewood. Got my haircut by Sophia and she was great! My first time at this location and felt welcomed with a great cut. I usually get a fade and it turned out really good. Scissors on top and was trimmed to a perfect length. Also had a great conversation. Overall, great vibes, convenient location, and great haircuts. I have longish hair-- touches my shoulders. Went in to have my split ends trimmed a bit and have the shorter hairs at the back of my head cleaned up and the barber borderline shaved the sides of my head without even asking if I wanted those cut (I did not) [see picture]. Sad you all went up on prices- I have been getting my hair cut at arrow since ~ 2015. I initially switched to arrow from choosing random salons around Raleigh, this was based on the price. Previously, I struggled to find a haircut that wasn't either $15 or $75. As someone who does not dye, or get radical haircuts, mainly just a trim I struggled to justify spending between $50 & $75 on a haircut (before tip). Case in point: directly from the website "We believe hair cuts should be an affordable luxury for everyone -- beards, bobs & buzzes -- we cut it all (Plus, old school hot shaves). And BONUS, if you're 21+ they will offer a complimentary (normally local) beer, a nice touch if you ask me. I originally heard about Arrow from a friend who worked there part-time. I always place a higher value on a recommendation given by someone who works there, because it generally indicates to me that they genuinely believe in the product. Since that first haircut I have not looked back. Arrow is admittedly limited in services for women - strictly cuts and shampoos, but if that is what you are looking for, look no further. I also have gotten a few of my guy friends to switch to arrow. For a marginally more expensive haircut (compared to other places like Supercuts, Greatclips, etc.) there is without a doubt a noticeable difference in service and quality. I was previously able to do walk-in appoints; this is when they were limited to just two or three locations. Since then I can tell the company has exploded in popularity (at the time of this comment they have 6 locations) and now require booking in advance; which is completely understandable! The staff are always accommodating, I have seen men/women walk in requesting a quick neck trim, or touch-up service and the staff ALWAYS try to work a customer in if possible, or provide the appropriate information about how to obtain the service. It really is consistently an excellent experience. SHOUT OUT to Sarah at the Ridgewood location - she does such a outstanding job every time! Sarah is also extremely personable, prompt, and diligent in ensuring you are happy with your cut; I could not ask for more. As someone who used to DREAD getting my haircut (and the waiting period before it grew out and I didn't hate it), this is the best case scenario. I have been getting my haircut with Sarah for ~ 2 years and have never walked away anything but thrilled with the end- product! read more

I've been going to Arrow @ Ridgewood for about a year now and have had a few different people there cut my hair. I'm going to leave a 5-star review because I haven't received a bad haircut, however; I do have my recommendations! My favorite barber and go-to is Andrew. He really takes his time and is a super genuine guy. Always checks if you feel good about the cut as he goes. Troy I believe went to a different location, but he also gave great cuts. From my cuts with Steve, I feel he cuts a little too fast for me. He takes what you want in a haircut and just goes for it. He is certainly a great barber and I haven't received a bad cut by him, but he isn't my personal favorite. read more

I had a great experience here at Arrow Ridgewood. I am nonbinary, but have only been to hairstylists for haircuts simply for lack of experience. I generally paid $60 for a haircut after tip, often for something like a contoured fade and could really only afford to do this once every 3-4 months. For someone who feels much more comfortable with very short hair, you can imagine how crazy I felt by 4 months out of a haircut! I only recently found out this was something I could have done at a barber for far less expensive. I just had never thought of going to a barber before. I will say, this is a very "man"-centric space, but still extremely welcoming. Walking in, I was greeted with smiles and immediately offered a beer (for my 11AM appointment lol). I happily accepted (hey, it was my day off!) and enjoyed the hip, clean space while I waited my turn. Daniel did a great job and gave me an excellent cut, exactly what I asked for, with good conversation, for half of what I was paying to see a stylist. This means I can get my hair cut twice as often, which is super exciting. All in all, even though everything is very man-man-man, I still felt like this place has the potential to be a very open and welcoming queerspace. Manny was my barber and he absolutely nailed it. I wanted to keep it as long as possible and clean it up/ make it look and feel healthier.. and it's exactly that and more. I have had good haircuts here. But today, the hairstylist was obviously double-booked at my appointment time. I can understand that this kind of thing does happen. But I was ignored by the receptionist for 25 minutes until I had to leave to go to another appointment. Then she acted like the problem was mine. What frosts me is that she's called my cellphone to see where I was at 2 minutes past my appointment. The last time this happened, I was directly in front of the store, leaving my vehicle, and clearly visible from where she was standing. It's ok for them to be late but not for the client. There are various locations so, if you're anywhere in town and need a fast clean-up then Arrow is the place to go to. Sometimes I just need a quick razor trim around the neck and they don't charge for the service. I love going to Ridgewood next to Wholefoods and seeing my Cuban Daniel, he's efficient, sweet and always manages to make me look and feel a little better than when I entered. From what I can tell they only know how to do one cut here, the kind little kids like. No scissors just clippers and they cut the sides really tight and leave the top long. There is no styling here. At least it's cheap. My other issue is when I tried to try a cut from Steve last time I was there they automatically gave me the stylist I had the first time and played it off like I didn't know I didn't request her. Wha? Also how about offering some bottled water instead of just beer? Arrow Haircuts is fantastic - this is the only place I've gotten my haircut at since moving to Raleigh (both Cameron Village and here) and I've had a great experience every time. The Ridgewood location just opened a few days ago but it's the same Arrow experience as downtown and Cameron Village - free beer and a great haircut. I had Cole cut my hair and he did a great job. I usually just let barbers run free in terms of cutting my hair and hope for the best but Cole had my hair shorter and looking sharper by the end of it all. Definitely excited about hitting up this location now that it's a little closer to work. Understanding that this is the third Arrow location in Raleigh, I truly hoped that the shop wouldn't lose its local charm; I could not have been more impressed. I was greeted with a beer and was put in a seat with almost no wait (all three shops are deservedly popular so it helps to have an appointment). Katie hooked me up with a simple buzz cut, lined up the back with a straight razor, and was personable and friendly the entire time. Just moved to Raleigh and it took me awhile to find a barbershop I liked. Arrow is one of the most unique barbershops I've ever been at or if not the most unique. You get free beer while waiting and while you get your haircut, talk about a 2 in 1 combo! I enjoyr their online booking option but sometimes there are bugs. I go to this location at Ridgewood because of Briannah, a colleague of mine referred her to me and she is excellent! I've gone to her over 5 times now which is a testimony of how good she is.
