Great Barber, Location and Price. Definitely will go back. Great Straight Razor experience, no bumps or irritation after my shave.

He charges a more than reasonable price. The shop is only open mornings and not every day, so you would want to call ahead. He loves fishing and his little place reflects that. You have to walk down several stairs to get to the shop.

Jimmy, at Five Points Barber Shop, is one of them. He's been cutting hair for over 30 years, and he has been cutting my hair for about four. If you don't live in Five Points or in downtown Raleigh, you probably want to try to find a barber closer to you due to limited hours. Jimmy works half the day from 7:30-11:30am Monday-Saturday. Walk-ins only. If you get to the shop within those hours, he'll get to you. You should call ahead to make sure he isn't on vacation or to check the current wait. In general, I would avoid 10:30am on a Saturday morning. 7:30-8am in the middle of the week is usually pretty safe. Make sure to bring some cash. Normal haircuts are $12 and Jimmy appreciates tips so he can afford new fishing or skydiving gear. You can get cash at many places in Five Points, including the gas stations and Wells Fargo. Remember to learn how to talk to your barber. Don't just say "a little bit off the top". Memorize your clipper guards or how many inches you want off the top and sides. If you aren't sure what you want, make sure to tell Jimmy that and he'll work with you by cutting a little bit off at a time.
