Mid-cut, I feel him flicking the clips up the side of my hair, and I start leaning away and then let him know I don't want that cut. Instead, he tells me not to lean away when cutting and that he has 18 years of experience and he "knows what he's doing," also saying my hair was uneven when I grew out both sides and the top for the past 7 months. Out of basic respect, I say ok, but I make it obvious I don't want anything but a low taper. Later on during the cut, he starts cutting my hair with scissors all around, and that's when I knew I messed up. I don't know how I could've prevented this, but even when I asked to line up my eyebrows, later coming home, I realized he changed the whole shape and made them way thinner, leaving a lighter shade from where he cut them off. At the end of the cut, I told him it was shorter than I wanted, and I didn't want the sides or top cut yet; he insisted he was making it even though it wasn't in the first place; it just wasn't detangled. He says I should've communicated more and that "the first time is never perfect," which it was far from, which just got me more aggravated, but at that point, I was just trying to get out of there, so I asked for his payment, and he said $35, which is $5 more than what I booked it for and what others pay. I didn't say anything just because I don't like starting stuff and wanted to dip, so I paid, went home, and took a shower, and what do you know? My sides are now very uneven, and I likely have to restart my hair after half a year. I think it was some part ego, by the way he said my real barber wasn't like that, and the fact that he kept saying, "I got 18 years of experience; I know what I'm doing" after my first concern. Maybe he should've asked how to proceed, but instead, during and after the cut, he said I was just going off the picture you showed me, which was just a pic of a low taper with a guy having shorter hair on the side, but I was clear that I didn't want the sides gone. At the end of the day, you live and learn, and I just hope that I can help someone from my experience.

NOT for BALD guys!…read more I was excited when I saw an old-fashioned barber pole and the place was busy. But that excitement quickly went away. This was the worst head shave I've ever had. No softening up of the hair on your head with hot towels or anything, just buzz your head with clippers, then slather on the cream and go to town with a straight razor. After my head was shaved there was a hot rag on my head for about 20 seconds, but that was it, it was the end of the shave. They didn't have any post-shave balm or even aftershave for my freshly-shorn head. I had to rush back home after the barber visit to my own bathroom in order to apply some moisture to my parched scalp. There was a bit of razor burn on my sideburn area too. I will not be coming back. I haven't yet found a perfect head shave, but Park's Barber Shop in North Raleigh gives a head shave that is much much better than this place. As a side note, I found it kind of odd that they don't even offer face shaves.

ODD? i don't even think he was a professional hair cutter as he asked the big guy how much to charge. i did give a $5 tip. but when i got home and saw the job he did and butchered my eyebrows, i have to say they lost a new customer new to the neighborhood. ps. and they weren't even busy. i am at a loss to understand their business concept.
