Please don't waste your money like I did! I hate writing 1 star reviews but it unfortunately was earned. It was very easy to make a reservation and when I walked in I wasn't greeted at all. I was 10 minutes early and Matt at first didn't say anything to me. Then said "oh are you David" after he was sitting there just on his phone. Then sighed and said "seems like everyone is just going to be early today". Which if you are trying to live up to "Grumpy Barber" they definitely did. Most importantly how was the hair cut? I showed him a picture of my standard haircut which is very straight forward and the majority of it is a buzz. He did it super fast and was super aggressive with my head. Shook it around all the time to get hair off which was not a pleasant experience. Then he was very pushy about giving a tip afterwards. When I got home I found a ton of uneven cuts and had to redo my haircut. That's always the worst thing afterwards. If you go here I hope you have a better experience than I did! read more

Sick place, the dude smelled like a hungover bum and hamburger helper. I asked to have the sides trimmed and the top left as is, he starts cutting the top, I remind him about 6 more times that I don't want the top cut, he ignores me. When he's done I said "I didn't want you to trim the top", he burped like Barney from the Simpsons and said "you should have told me." Then he flopped down in an old chair caught his breath. Walkins not good on Saturday... I got here at 3 with Yelp showing they are open until 5. No one else in the store, but I was told no openings until after 5? This is the 2nd time this has happened to me here so I thought I would share. I should edit this again, as the owner Marcia did make a bunch of valid points. It is not fair for me to update my review from a 5 star to a 1 star, as I have not been in the shop for about a year. However, I cannot remove warning of the lack of professionalism and ethics of the barber who was present. We all go through things, and maybe this was a difficult time. I do hope he has improved, and I wish him the best of luck. I have not tried out the new barber, but I am sure she is fantastic. I hope nothing for the best for her either. If Petey and Teresa are measures of the types of barbers this shop likes to hire, then I am sure she is amazing. My rating remains lower than 5 stars because of the experience I had. I hope that it gets better, and that the shop has improved! The original edit I made and lowering the shop to a 1 was not ethical of me, and I do apologize. I have been here twice and both Petey and Theresa have cut my hair. Petey is certainly a master of his craft and gave me an excellent cut. Today, Theresa cut my hair and I asked for a low fade, which is a new style for me. She did a fantastic job on the cut and it might just be the best cut I've ever gotten from anyone. This sentence is the most positive in this review. I came to this place based on a referral; absolute mistake. Booked a father & son cut with Matt. When trying to establish rapport (first visit for both my son & I) Matt continuously cut me off giving his input. For my son, I requested a Low-Fade skin fade with combover on top with length taken off. After telling me no in different ways Matt then said what he was going to do. Thought cutting my sons hair, he stopped too many times to count to "dance", bribe my son with $1 to smile, and offer Lollipops. My son understands to sit still and be quiet during a cut and to do as the barber says. I could tell my son grew more anxious and uncomfortable with the cut. After Matt said he was done, I asked for more attention to squaring the back of my sons hair/neck line. Also asked to take a bit more length off the top. Please see my sons haircut in below images (1-11). A picture is worth 1,000 words and these speak VOLUMES! Now my cut. I asked for mid-fade skin fade and to keep the shape of my current cut BUT to blend fade into length up top, and take approx 1 inch off top (depending) in order to keep symmetry. Not only was there no skin fade, it's a complete butcher job! My cut is images 12-16. Oh! Almost forgot, Matt cut himself With his own scissors then ran his fingers through my sons hair!!! New barbershop just opened in Apex, NC. Contrary to the name of the establishment, Matt comes off as personable and friendly. He's got a really nice setup and has done a fine job getting his place up and running. The shop is located on Hunter Street right off Highway 55 across the street from the Apex fire station. Conveniently booked haircuts for my son and I on his website. His schedule fills up quickly so be sure to book well in advance. When we arrived there was no wait and we got right down to business. By far the most careless cut I have ever had. First, the apron had bunches of hair from last client on it. Spent some time showing pics of how my beard had looked in the past, and specifically mentioned I prefer a barber who gives a scissors cut. Never picked up a pair. I found a deep bald spot after he attempted to "lift" the mustache. "It'll grow back" is not what you want to hear from the barber; no way to fix or blend this kind of mistake. In the car I noticed the neckline uneven, and next morning I noticed a large slash above one ear where he had been cleaning. Clearly knew this had happened and hid it. I recently moved to the RDU area and was on the hunt for a good barbershop. This caught my eye as the prices are very reasonable and the reviews were great! I thought my haircut was pretty good. Matt cut my hair and he said that his other barber was probably better doing fades than he was. My daughter LOVED the old school gumball machine they had there so that was a nice touch. I guess the only thing that kind of weirded me out was the history of the building that the barbershop is in and Matt said that there are some "weird things" that happen in there from time to time. That was a little too "weird" for me. But, I would say that I didn't find Matt "grumpy" at all. read more

Teresa is absolutely amazing! I have very stubborn Asian hair that is difficult to cut/manage and she always takes to time to make sure it looks amazing. I really enjoy how she asks for my opinion while also providing suggestions. I've never really had someone take the time to teach and show me which products to use/how to use them so meeting her was game changing! She's very communicative over text and is a joy to chat with. Matt and Pete give great haircuts. You put your reservation in through the website it takes a minute or two it's a piece a cake and then show up at your designated time and there's no waiting, no drama and you can have a free refreshment from the refrigerator if you chose to do that. Both guys have a great sense of humor and only one of them has cut my hair but I brought my Dad, brother, son, and nephew and they have all had the best haircut they have ever had. Not real impressed w/my husband's haircut from this past friday.....i was a hairstylist for over 12 years but decided to quit after carpal tunnel and wanted my husband to feel what it's like going to a real barber and it doesn't look any better than what i can do. he left unwanted hairs all around his hairline and neckline (like what did you even do?), he didn't blend in his beard very well, he cut over his ear way too high "white wall". normally, i wouldn't say anything but 60$ for a basic great clips haircut? please.....this is a joke for barbers everywhere. he won't be coming back. read more

This is one the better barber shops I've been to in my travels. The place is very clean and welcoming. Matt and Mike are very professional and courteous. Upon walking in I was greeted by both and Matt offered me a complimentary drink. Mike was my barber and he was able to give me the exact type of haircut I wanted based on the pictures I provided him and he listened to the fine detail I gave him (small natural looking part line). I wish I lived closer to the area so I could be a regular, but I will definitely stop by if I'm in the area visiting my Aunt!forewarning they do accept walk-ins, but I highly recommend setting up an appointment via their squarespace site.
