Fast, friendly and experienced owner and staff. Cut my hair since 1983, and my kids for over 20 years as well. Thanks.

Best haircut in Raleigh! Good folks and good conversations! They use straight razors on your neck and the cuts are fast and precise.

So glad to have found this spot! It's a cute little shop right in the heart of Cameron Village,…read moremodern, trendy interior, with a great and super welcoming team. I arrived a little late due to traffic, but thankfully they were as friendly as could be and were still able to take me for my appointment. As a woman who spends a lot of time and effort on my hair as far as coloring and conditioning services, I can definitely understand the commitment to keeping the tresses healthy - BUT, I never realized how incredibly overpriced it is to get a simple trim in the Triangle nowadays. I looked up so many places where a women's cut *starts* at $60... absurd. As luck would have it, I found Arrow, which was actually recommended to me for my guy a while ago. My stylist greeted me in by name, led me to my chair and asked me what were looking to do. I told her just a little trim to get rid of the dry ends and a little face framing to bring it together. And boom! She quickly trimmed up my hair, making sure it was even from all angles, even checking in to make sure we were aligned on how I wanted the face framing pieces and I couldn't be happier. Just sad I didn't get to catch her name because she was awesome and made the whole process so pleasant! Would 100% recommend to any ladies looking for a routine trim at a great price. I think they also offer free beer for guests; I'm unfortunately not a beer person but just so you know!

My boyfriend was looking for a place to go that wasn't great clips. I have heard amazing things…read moreabout arrow and they do an amazing job. Five Points Barber Shop - Jimmy, when he's not fishing...

He charges a more than reasonable price. The shop is only open mornings and not every day, so you would want to call ahead. He loves fishing and his little place reflects that. You have to walk down several stairs to get to the shop.

Jimmy, at Five Points Barber Shop, is one of them. He's been cutting hair for over 30 years, and he has been cutting my hair for about four. If you don't live in Five Points or in downtown Raleigh, you probably want to try to find a barber closer to you due to limited hours. Jimmy works half the day from 7:30-11:30am Monday-Saturday. Walk-ins only. If you get to the shop within those hours, he'll get to you. You should call ahead to make sure he isn't on vacation or to check the current wait. In general, I would avoid 10:30am on a Saturday morning. 7:30-8am in the middle of the week is usually pretty safe. Make sure to bring some cash. Normal haircuts are $12 and Jimmy appreciates tips so he can afford new fishing or skydiving gear. You can get cash at many places in Five Points, including the gas stations and Wells Fargo. Remember to learn how to talk to your barber. Don't just say "a little bit off the top". Memorize your clipper guards or how many inches you want off the top and sides. If you aren't sure what you want, make sure to tell Jimmy that and he'll work with you by cutting a little bit off at a time.

Making appointments online is a great bonus. Ryan does a great job, and gets five stars from me. The Deets: My barber I go to in downtown Raleigh transferred business over to the new The Nut Barbershop so I went over this past weekend for a head shave/beard trim. This shop has a lot going in and still evolving as it has just opened up, so it's a still a work in progress. You can get the feeling looking at the pics that it has a blend of the old fashioned and old school with some modern style. I like the old fashioned detail placed into the workstations, with antique barber chairs to go with them. The stark lines of the painted walls are broken up with a well placed piece of wood with curves to the edges, bringing a more natural tone out. A welcoming sitting area in back with a TV is available, giving the sort of vibe the shop actually lean towards...a kind of hangout for customers as well as a pure barbershop. An open outside area out the back door is good for a game of darts while enjoying a cigar (I am told a dartboard to come soon), for example. I like this vibe a lot and think this type of atmosphere is going to set The Nut Barbershop apart from other venues around. But one of the main reasons this shop gets five stars is my barber Ryan, as his attention to detail and barber skills are wonderful. The shop is set up for payments with cash, cards, and Apple/Android Pay with Square. Bonus is that you can make appointments online at the www.thenutbarbershop.com website. Note: The Friday open hours 11am-7pm are set up for walk-ins only, the rest of the operating hours are by appointment only (at the time of this writing, per website). All in all, The Nut Barbershop is shaping up to be a great new place to get a trim in DTR! They get all the stars.
