I'm always extremely hesitant to try out a new place to get a haircut, but after a friend recommended arrow, I gave it a shot. I made the right decision; I received a great haircut at a great price. I walked in about 2PM on a Wednesday afternoon and was seen immediately by a very helpful, courteous, and attentive staff. The results were great too! They also do complimentary cleanups around the ears and neck, which helps for guys like me with thick hair. I'm definitely going back in a few weeks when I need my monthly haircut. read more

Super friendly people. The website is really easy to use. Bethany did my hair and asked me what I wanted as we went along, which is great because I'm not great at describing what I want done. She was super friendly, and a great bargain. Nice location near NC State for students as well. read more

Excellent service, great online booking and beer!

There's nothing better than having someone hand you a beer when you walk into Arrow after spending an hour in traffic. Then you get to have your hair cut by Beth H., and she's the best! She listened to what I wanted and totally delivered. She does both women's and men's cuts and rocks them. I would absolutely go back to Arrow and get my hair done by Beth H. again. read more

This place is really incredible. I have been looking for a place to get my hair cut since coming to Raleigh two years ago. I know I have finally found it! I am not the most decisive person when it comes to how to get my hair cut and usually the person cutting my hair tells me they can't do anything if I don't decide, but at Arrow I got help when it came to decisions. If I didn't know exactly how I wanted something I was given recommendations based on what they thought would look best. As a result I got one of the best hair cuts of my life. Not only was the service great, but the atmosphere is wonderful too. I love the style and concept and actually can't wait for my next hair cut! read more

I looked at all the reviews on yelp for Arrow to help me decide whether or not it was worth it to go to this place. It was definitely worth it, the person who cut my hair was friendly (Aaron is his name). I just needed a trim off my pixie cut, but all of the places I could 'trust' were salons that costed out the whazoo. My hair cut was a great experience, the vibe in the place was great! I love the design and what this place stands for. I even got the $3 discount for students because I went on a Monday. But trust me, when I say: when it gets busy, it gets busy. I was lucky enough to get squeezed in when I walked in, the only other available time was at 12:30pm. So I guess either go to the place when they open, or make an appointment! read more

Best place for a high quality haircut & hot shave south of NYC. Reminds me of the "Blind Barber" in SOHO. KRIS IS AWESOME. She is concise and cut just as I requested. I'll be a regular. Highly recommend. I've spent much more for not as good a result. read more

An awesome alternative to some the more traditional barbers in the area. Online appointment process is a breeze. I'll definitely head back in a few weeks. read more

Moved to the area a few months ago and found the downtown Raleigh location online, I blindly booked an appointment with Michelle, she was great and I've been going back ever since (but usually to this location). I've got my fingers crossed they open a location near Chapel Hill or Carrboro! read more

MIck was really good! I have gone to the same woman to get my hair cut for the last 10 years of my life, but I just converted to Mick with the great cut I had last night. He cut both me and my boyfriends hair, and did great on both. He really knows hair, and knows how to make the best it can be. He gave us both tips on how to style our hair. I was worried when I came in that with this being a barber shop, they may not give great women's cuts. But they do! Great atmosphere, nice people working there. read more

Enjoyed my experience. Fair price and interesting environment. Quality cut, certainly above any mainstream cuts.

I wanted to like the place, it's really close to work and convenient, but I can't say I did. After stopping by a number of times, since the sign says "walk-ins always welcome" I realized that is not the case. When I finally asked about that, they said with a lot of attitude.. we take them if we can fit them in.. ok got it.. walk-ins only welcome when they feel like it. Booked an appointment, and after arriving on time, waited for 20 minutes.. Then had my 15 minute haircut. She took a chunk out of the side and left a lot of stragglers.. Thanks for the beer, but perhaps they should stay away from it while trying to cut hair.. I'll go back to my old barber downtown. he's happy to see me, no attitude, and takes his time and does a great job. The music isn't so good, but at least I won't be scalped and get attitude.. read more

Got my worst haircut ever here! The lady mixed a 4 length with a 2 and ended up giving me a buzz cut. Wont be back anytime soon. Cost me 20 bucks for a haircut I did not even ask for. read more

Thank you for the haircut Kris. My first experience at arrow was a good one. $18 for a nice cut and a beer/water at Cameron Village is a fair price. Plenty of room to give your stylist a fair tip.. read more

Like some of the other reviewers I decided to try Arrow Haircuts because of the positive reviews, but unlike others, I was very disappointed. I have even waited a few days to review my experience because I thought after some time I would be more fair. I would like to say before I start that I have seen nice haircuts on friends who have gone and the atmosphere was very inviting. But for the haircut I got, I overpaid. As a salon, I really liked the environment. I was running a few minutes late so I called ahead, and Pete, the owner, was very accommodating. When I arrived I was offered a beer and water and immediately met my stylist, who's name I won't mention. I showed my stylist the cut I had in mind. I already had long hair and just needed the trim and a few layers put in. My stylist gave me a great hair wash and was very nice and a great conversationalist. I thought I received a great cut, I got to keep most of my length but lost the split ends; I wasn't showed the back, and I didn't think to ask (probably because I don't have to ask at the other salons I've been too). Anyways, I walked out of the salon pleased. I straightened my hair the next day and when I looked at the back I realized I had a SINGLE layer very obviously cut out in the back. It was not blended at all and about 4 inches shorter than the surrounding hair. At this point, I decided I could either wait until after graduation to have my regular stylist at home (I am an out-of-state student) or return to Arrow. I decided I really needed to have my hair evened out, and I put my faith in the salon one more time. When I returned, Pete was once again very nice and very understanding. I was paired with a different stylist immediately for no charge (which I was extremely thankful for). This stylist was also understanding and very nice. Unfortunately, we had to take quite a bit more off than I had originally wanted. When my stylist showed me the back this time, I thought it was still a bit uneven. When I asked for it to be evened out, my stylist proceeded to tell me "Well, that's not how hair is cut." I began to feel like I was no longer being listened to, after all, if my hair was cut properly to begin with I wouldn't have had to return. (I do realize that it was not the second stylist's fault, and I was taking up non-commissioned time. However, I don't appreciate being treated like I don't know what I am talking about when I clearly see uneven, choppy layers.) I left the salon and have waited until now to review. Although my experience of the salon was good, my haircut was not. I am most upset that for what I paid, I didn't get a nice haircut. I will still have to return to my stylist back home to fix the cut and take off more length in the process... that will leave my inches shorter than where I wanted to be. I think for a trim or a men's cut, this is the salon to go to, but I won't be trusting anyone but my stylist from now on. read more

10 stars ! Steve always rocks the cut! Perfect place to get quality haircut and style!

I am writing this review after my second visit and I have to say that they are different than all other Barber shops. I moved from tristate and was looking for a good barber and for my first haircut i went to a franchise place and my hair we messed up (12$ for cut explains that). The after searching on yelp I found Arrow Haircuts and decided to try them and went to them in spite it's an 40 min drive for me. First time I got cut with Leigh Anne and I explained her about me bad experience with last Barber and she assured me I will be a happy customers. I wasn't sure about the length of hair on top so she made sure to cut little and ask me and kept doing until I was happy and in the end she told me what size to tell next time I come in and I was indeed happy. My second cut few days back was with Bethany and again the cut was just like I needed. This place is all about customer service and listening to customers and building relationship and don't forget the free beer. I am glad that I found this place and I am happy to drive 40 mins. Thanks arrow read more

Been once. Won't be back. Didn't get the hair wash I reserved...fine. Asked to keep my hair longer on top and now it's the shortest it's been in 9 years. I'll be heading back to my old place...in about five weeks. read more

I feel compelled to review mainly because no women have yet. Although Arrow does offer shaving, they also cut women's hair. I was recommended hear by my man oddly enough and I'm glad I went. Steve cut my hair and did a good job. I just wanted a couple inches off and some simple layers which was no problem. He gave me the absolute best hair wash of my life and kept good conversation. Another patron even commented that Steve has been cutting his mom and sisters hair for years (and it seemed like he must have followed Steve as a client). Like the others, I was offered a beer and great customer service by I believe the owner, Pete. I normally go to trendy, feminine salons but this was definitely as good a service and cheaper. Some things to consider for ladies - when they turn you around in the chair to dry, cut, whatever ... you are kind of awkwardly facing the waiting area. Also, it is cheaper so don't expect a full blowout and/or your hair straightened - which is what I'm used to. Even though it was a change, I appreciated the atmosphere and mood and definitely the prices. read more

I moved to the Raleigh area recently and heard nothing but great things about this place. I went in for a haircut, which he did an ok job, and it was fine with the head hair. My problem came with the beard trim I received. I have been growing it for over 2 years now, and wanted a "trimming of the stray hairs and split ends." The long and the short of it is that when I got home I had to trim the equivalent of a year and a half off my beard just to make it look presentable. I was shocked that he was ok with me leaving his business and telling people "Arrow Haircuts did this." Perhaps if you're looking for a trendy beard trim they might could do it, but for those of you looking for a natural, rugged look - don't get your beard trimmed here. Essentially I paid $5 to lose a year and a half worth of length. Though it is just hair, and it can grow back, I would warn men (and women I suppose) not to get a beard trim here. read more

Overrated place. Unprofessional and junior hairdressers. Worst haircut I have ever seen.

Yelp says it's a men's hair salon, but I've gotten my hair cut there and been very happy with the results. If you don't need a shampoo or a hot towel or any of the other frills that come with getting your hair cut at a high-end salon, Arrow is a great choice. Best of all, it comes without the sexism of some of the "men's hair salon" chains that have started moving into the area (Lady Jane's, anybody...?). As a woman I feel very comfortable having my hair cut here. read more

Me, my wife, and our son all got our hair trimmed up and looking good. Love this place! Feels good to find a place that's not a cookie-cutter chain and not an overpriced salon...and I got a free beer! Big fan! Support local business. read more

Ok.. First of all, Let me say that I have been to a different barbershop/salon every month for the past year trying to find someone that can cut my hair like I want it. Today I found it. Arrow is excellent all the way around. Michelle cut my hair exactly how I asked and took the time to actually listen to my requests. She told me what she was doing as she went along and asked through out the cut if everything was looking how I wanted. Guys, if you wear a low skin fade, and want it done right then go to Arrow. You also get a free cold beer when you walk in. read more

Visitor to Raleigh in need of a cut. Could not be happier with the service, cut, and overall experience! Free beer too, wow!! Leigh Anne was awesome and made me feel like a regular! This would be my full time shop if I lived in Raleigh!! Highly recommend!! read more

Okay, the place is amazing. I migrated over here from Man-Mur and this is where I'm going from now on. With the student discount it's $15 for a haircut... but they also give you free beer and the hair people are amazing. They give you the same attention and time that you would expect for a $50 haircut, except it's only $15! and there's beer... Everyone I saw leaving the place, while I was there, looked amazing. All the barbers seemed super top-notch. Go here. read more

If you're looking for great stylist, check out Becca. She listens to what you want and makes it happen. I highly recommend her!

I have YET to get a haircut from Arrow. However, my next one will be from there. I had the opportunity to sit down with Pete for lunch (I met him once before in passing and he made the time for me today). I'm not sure I've met anyone as loyal or focused on the customer experience. I'm sold. read more

I went yesterday from the recommendation of my friends. Their cuts are always very well done, so I wanted to give it a try. Unfortunately, it didn't turn out the same for me. I told the stylist specifically what I wanted, what I always tell my usual barber, but it turned out nothing like it usually does. I get a close cut on the sides, leaving some length on top and style to the left. The stylist proceeds to cut all the hair on my "sides" (going about two inches too far on either side) leaving just a clump of hair directly on top. There's no way for me to even style it the way I requested after attempting for an extended period this morning. I left the shop looking like a rooster, or with a terrible attempt at a mohawk. I understand it can be difficult to explain exactly what you mean/want to someone who doesn't normally cut your hair, but I think this was completely different. I'm not sure why you would cut all of the hair off of the left side of my head when I told you that's the side I style with, but I digress. I have seen good work from here, but unfortunately this will be my last visit. Now I get to look like a rooster for my birthday! read more
