I know Harborview as the region's best trauma center, and I knew when the call came that I needed to be present because of a situation that it was not a good situation. So, let's keep with the basics. Parking was incredibly easy to find. If I had one concern it was that because there's a few other hospitals were parking isn't convenient. You either end up so far away from the emergency room that the walk over feels like a lifetime or you end up in some convoluted location that it takes an additional ten minutes to find where you are. Harborview offers a variety of parking options from valet to self-park which is incredibly handy. The hospital itself is very clean. I still associate hospitals with very sterile environments - the white walls, the white floor, the bright flourescent lights, the antiseptic smell that permeates the air like a horrid perfume you can't quite escape. So when I see a hospital that tries to break my strong impression I appreciate the small gestures from the light green paint to the chair rail that made the space feel less like an institute and slightly more inviting. I found the emergency waiting room and check-in process to be a little confusing. When you're a visitor and trying to get in and find out status all the different stations can be a bit daunting. I never ended up at any of these stations because the social worker quickly found the waiting group and we were eventually taken to the ICU. The social worker was great. Patient, soft spoken, understanding she helped the process immensely. I do not envy her job. The ICU was nice. The waiting area was conveniently laid out so that groups of people could gather comfortably without rearranging furniture. They were testing out a new system that I guess will one day give status of different rooms so you can check if your particular person is in their room, in surgery, or any other number of statuses. The nurses were patient and kind. I know everyone has different experiences and going to the hospital in any capacity - unless you work there - is never going to be pleasant. I appreciated the attentiveness that Harborview showed us that day and the kindness that they offered.

My father died of death induced by dehydration after having had a stroke and then administered medication that we told the staff he could not take. The medication made him a vegetable. So, we watched him dehydrate to death and had the topper of a chief nurse yelling at my father and pinching him so hard she dug her nails into his skin and made this traumatized man weep! She did this in front of family members and they were horrified and traumatized by her behavior as a result. This occurred all in the highly acclaimed neuro unit. Then, when my father would not die fast enough they transferred him to the most disgusted, urine soaked nursing home from hell where he finally died of dehydration the next day. Pure hell!!! It was a nightmare that I wish on no one! I often hear that harborview is so spectacular but, that must have been some time in the past or for others. This is the second family member I've had die under their experimental care by juvenile doctors. In my experience, this institution is a pathetic, embarrassing, scourge on the face of medicine! Be warned! Beware!

Olalla offers a range of different approaches to treatment and no shortage of options; everyone is assigned a personal counsler, there's a medicine wheel and smudging, acupuncture, reiki, Sunday prayer services, meetings, classes, and a full days schedule to implement a healthy routine and keep you busy but focused on the ultimate goal- a healthier, happier you and a lifestyle change. I suggest being open minded, and to take advantage of all Olalla has to offer, sign up and participate, you will definitely be glad that you did. The food is delicious. And you're aloud to eat as much as you want. (I happily gained almost 20 lbs) The dorms are updated, comfortable, and well maintained as housekeeping is thorough and EVERYDAY. They do a great job. The staff is really what makes Olalla so great. Each member, with respect to their specific titles, are amazing at what they do. Everyone is so genuine and knowledgeable, Olalla truly is composed of a great team. If ever the time comes where enough is enough, and you find yourself researching your next option, I strongly suggest trusting in Olalla, you'll leave there satisfied and happy you did

Which include wooden gingerbread ornaments she hand painted. I wanted souvenirs, so I asked the girls if I can have theirs as mine. Some gave them to me and some didn't. No big deal! My mistake in this was that I saw one of the girls had it in her gingerbread ornament in a basket and I took it out and put it on her bed. Then there's this one girl who they put in my room named Zaclyn aka Z. She accused me of stealing her stuff. They moved her into her own room because she accused me of stealing her shirt, just for her to find her damn shirt hung underneath her other clothes. She held grudges against me. Saying I'm a klepto. She came into my room when I wasn't there and took all my sanitary wash and threw it in the garbage. Then they held a meeting and everyone pointing their finger at me. While praising a girl who accused another woman of stealing and stooped so low to throw her stuff in the garbage bin. On top of that, the director wouldn't even accept me back to the facility. Other then unfairness and the gossips, nice staff and nice facility!

Certified Nurse Assistants (CNA's) are the heart of the operation, and come from all over the world. They are competent, cheerful, safe, clean, hard working and kind, as good as it gets IMHO. PT's, OT's and nurses do their jobs well, despite my desire to push myself too hard for my own good. There are some levels of administration missing for smooth running, but I understand this is temporary due to unexpected staff departures (for family and health reasons) If half-point ratings were available I would dock CLH a half-point because the food is awful. Some is inedible, diet orders are not followed, and it's always cold. Friends have ended up bringing me food, and given my low appetite that worked for me. The wonderful staff makes up for the poor quality of the meals, and then some. But be advised. The non-profit quality of caring is evident in the cheerful interior of the building, the architecture is airy and accessible, and the courtyard is lovely. CLA is not perfect, nor is anywhere. My first two weeks here were hard given the trauma of a post-op seizure, but I have felt safe and cared-for and I AM recovering. If, God forbid, I need rehab or long-term care, I would come back here.

She was discharged that evening. Thankfully, I was guarded by several patients and a few staff. Soon after, all the staff dispersed and while still guarded the patient came back! Fortunately, she was only verbally assaulting me and didn't try attacking me again. After she had left the facility I was checked on by staff and assured she had been removed and I was in no way at fault. My case manager had come to check on me, who should have been home by 1030 pm. The next day i was told I was being discharged due to "antagonizing" the patient. I have MANY witnesses who strongly disagree. After being told of the unwarranted discharge, where I was unprotected, Renee, who is in charge of ?? tried to upsell their IOP program! They called my family to let them know, packed my belongings immediately, which I could not access including my phone, and while on their house phone frantically trying to get a ride, I was told I had met my 5 minute phone time elimit. I was extremely vulnerable due to my years of addiction and alcoholism, and in shock that they would do this to a patient under their care! Needless to say, I went out w many choice words. Insulin needles were left in patient beds, PPE seems to be optional furthering the spread of illness. Anyone looking to keep their licensure and avoid jail time should avoid this place at all costs.
