I've gone to Arrow in Raleigh for about a year now and much like them (same owner), Pedro Williams is so much more than a place to get your hair cut. Upon entering, you are greeted with a smile and a beer (which should make you return said smile, even on the worst days). The folks at Pedro are no newbies in the hair world and will take care of you. Natalie hooked me up with a simple buzz cut and I have no complaints (the straight razor shave is always a nice finish). I was a little skeptical going to this salon as a lady with extremely unruly hair, but I work across the street so I figured I would give it a go. Amanda was amazing! A wash, cut, blow-out (let me tell you my hair is not easy to blow-dry) usually costs me somewhere in the area of $60. The look on my face when she told me it was $27 must have been frightening. I was blown away. On top of that, 9th street employees get a discount so it was only $24! I am definitely 100% going to Amanda again. I just got a haircut, shampoo and straight-razor shave. The whole experience was fantastic; from the greeting (which included, "would you like a beer?".. umm.. YEAH) to eventually having to leave when my pampering was complete. Kacee, my stylist, is awesome. Personable, energetic, professional, skillful. Best haircut I've had. Visited Pedro Williams for the first time today. It is located just around the corner from the Hilton Garden Inn so it was a short walk away. Simone cut my hair and did an excellent job! She has such a kind and sweet personality too. I really enjoyed chatting with her. This is a very cool place. I really appreciate their compassion for Duke patients and caregivers. My son and I have been in the hotel many days while he is here for treatments. It was so nice to get out and get a haircut and then to have it done as a courtesy was such an incredible gesture. Love this barber shop! Their hair stylists are great- they cut my husbands hair and mine(we go to Leah). He always comes home looking fantastic and for women they charge by "above the shoulder" or "below the shoulder" and it is significantly cheaper than going to a regular hair salon. I'm reluctant to be totally honest about the reasons behind my fandom for Pedro and the Don't Call Them Barbers who work there, but as long as I can make an appointment online, I don't mind increasing the competition for a chair. First: Free beer. I've had a Fullsteam or Fat Tire every time. That's a perk that will sway my judgment anytime. Second: Great staff. I've had two straight haircuts and shaves that are worth every penny. I think I have a lot of social and pop-culture references with my preferred stylist, so it's easy to explain what I want and for her to deliver. Third: The straight-razor shaves. Insanely relaxing, considering someone is holding a razor to your throat the whole time. The results are far better than I can do for myself with a tube of Proraso and a four-blade cartridge from your preferred mail order service. Don't waste your money at a big chain and don't waste your time trying to get an appointment at one of the other indie shops in Durham. Book an appointment at Pedro Williams and don't look back. read more

I am very picky about my hair and get it cut every 4 weeks. I usually go to your 'men-only style barber shop, but due to a recent price hike at my long time place, I decided to try here ($19 at Pedro). I was pleasantly surprised! It is great that they serve beer in a can and not in a small Dixie cup like other places. The girls were very friendly and listened to requests. The atmosphere is super industrial and cool. They typically go by appointment - AND they do free razor touch ups on the back of your neck between cuts. My only complaint is that I had a 12:30 appt. and I was not in the chair until 12:48. Other than that, Amanda was awesome and I will go back to her again! read more
