Recently I posted a scathing Review directed at Yelp (I was wrong) for having outdated tel. & bus. info on "Dennis Best Men's Salon" (DBMS). Stating, that they no longer existed... that when I called their tel# a person answered the phone giving a different business name, though, I did make an appointment w/this new shop. Later, while checking out their Cus. Portal website I became concerned as to what had happened to DBMS and whether they had taken over his business, etc., and sent them a text questioning as to, "What happened to DBMS, had they relocated and/or had they, this new shop, taken over DBMS' business?" I did not get an answer/reply so I continued to re-send the same question 3 days in a row, never getting any response from the shop. I became so frustrated at the shop's non-communication I immediately went to Yelp and posted the incorrect info I mentioned, above. I was "100% wrong" on my post as I found out via a private text sent to me explaining that I must have dialed the wrong number, that DBMS was definitely still in business and thriving. Further, that they do not have an internet Customer Portal for making appointments, only their listed phone number. I dialed DBMS' tel# again and got a very friendly voice answering this is DBMS can I help you. I was so embarrassed that I hurriedly said thanks...I'll call back later! I had indeed, originally, called the wrong number and though they had a similar address they definitely were not DBMS‼ I want to personally apologize profusely to Yelp and Dennis (especially) and sincerely thank the individual that notified me of my mistake‼ I let my immediate frustration with the non-reply from the Shop I had spoken with in error get the best of me vs. catching my breath and rechecking the info on Yelp‼ I will be calling DBMS the next time I need a haircut. And, again I am so sorry for my earlier post berating Yelp for having outdated info on their site and to DBMS for saying you were no longer in business. I am 70 yrs. old but never too old to admit my mistakes and learn from them! read more

The atmosphere is welcoming with flowing music in the air, the beautiful art & the vintage chess board set up. They also take Covid precautions extremely serious & seem to have this appointment based haircuts down packed. I stopped into Dennis Best to get my husband a gift certificate for a gift. The shop is conveniently located to our neighborhood, and there is plenty of parking around back. I went inside and immediately noticed the cool decor. It's exactly the type of place my hipster 30-something husband would feel comfortable. I inquired about the gift card and was directed over to Dennis himself. He was so nice, and discussed the prices of various services to help me decide on an amount. When my husband went in to use the gift certificate he had a great experience. He'd called ahead for an appointment and they were able to accommodate him the same day. He really enjoyed his haircut and beard trim, and he also enjoyed the social aspect. He said he looks forward to going back again! read more

Not only did Mark correct the mistakes, but he gave me an outstanding haircut and paid such close attention to detail. My neighbor noticed as soon as I stepped out of my car and admired the cut. This is my go to spot for that clean cut. Dennis is an outstanding guy who always makes you feel welcome. Latham is my barber and he always takes his time with his haircuts which makes you feel you're really getting your money's worth. I always ask for a hard part when I'm there and Latham will actually do it with a straight razor which is legit. The front door takes a bit more effort to push open compared to other doors. My first time there I didn't realize that and thought they were closed or something. Each time I'm there, I get to listen to a different fascinating conversation that makes the experience one of a kind. They offer complimentary soda, coffee, bottled water if you're a customer so that's a nice gesture. Definitely check this place out because the quality of haircuts are amazing. Ladies with a pixie/short cut, this is the place to go. I've always went to a woman at a woman's salon, but never quite happy with my cut, despite researching the stylist, having pictures of desired cut, and multiple trips back to fix it. I decided to maybe see a barber, since they have more experience with a short cut that I desired, and it was a good decision. Spoke with Lathan on the phone and he was pleasant. Dennis, the shop owner, was extremely friendly. Got my hair cut by Donnie and I couldn't be more pleased. He took the time to look at a few pictures I brought in, explained some differences, and discussed how it would translate to my hair. He made sure to explain what he was doing along the way and that I was comfortable with length, etc before he cut. It's the best cut I've had so far. I went from "tired, suburban Mom who would like to speak to the manager" to "sweet hair cut." And more than a good barber, he's a great dude to talk to. It made my time in the chair very pleasant. The salon itself is nice. Nice vibe. Lots of parking in the back. They have beer, water, and soda to grab while you wait. I never felt out of place as a woman in a man's salon. The absolute best barber shop I've ever been too. It's actually ruined barber shops for me because no one else gives such a great cut in such a great environment for such a reasonable price. I moved to New Jersey for work three years ago and I make a point to get my hair cut here whenever I'm back in the area. I'm getting married on Saturday and the barber shop up in Jersey basically butchered my hair last week. I made an appointment with Donnie and he cleaned it up. My hair looks better than it has since, well, the last time I came to DBMS. He had a real conversation with me about how my hair and noggin work and followed through efficiently and professionally. Not only that, he said if I didn't like anything about the cut before Saturday, to give him a call and he would fit me in to clean it up no charge! All the barbers are extremely competent and friendly. I'm normally not into barbershop chatter but they're such interesting and fun dudes that you can't help but get caught up in it. I highly recommend DBMS. Dennis has been my primary barber now for the last 4 years and he has always done a great job. I have yet to find a barber that cuts a fo hawk as well as Dennis does in the area. Dennis is more than just a barber though; he's a genuinely cool guy and the conversations that go on at DBMS are always funny and thought provoking. The environment is great and the music is good. When you arrive, you're free to help yourself to a beer or soda from the fridge. I've been searching for a new place since my stylist left Rock Paper Scissors a few months ago. I started to grow out my beard, so I wanted somewhere who could give me a hip/stylish cut and take care of the monster on my face at the same time. I figured that a barber may be the best of both worlds. After seeing positive reviews on yelp, I tried DBS Men's Salon, scheduled an appointment with Bryan and went in for a beard trim and haircut. Bryan was professional, knowledgable and listened to exactly what I wanted. I left with an awesome cut and my hair/beard receives nothing but compliments on almost a daily basis. I've visited Bryan about 5 times now for combinations of haircuts and beard trims and each time I've left nothing less than impressed. The price is almost about half as what I was paying previously! The atmosphere is really laid back and as a gay guy, I've never felt out of place or weird in the environment (most barbershops take the macho nonsense to 110%). The first time you go in they will take a lot of time "diagnosing" to figure out the exact look you're going for and the hair cuts can actually take quite a long time (30min-1hr) as they're extremely meticulous, The atmosphere is great. You're basically party to entertaining bullshitting and guy talk all while being able to enjoy a complimentary beer. If there's one thing I hate, it's finding a new barber. I hate it so much, in fact, that I've been letting my wife shave my head over the bathroom sink for the last year. Prior to that, I visited one weird, cash only place downtown and went to another where a pleasant, grill having, Baby Phat loving, Kangol wearing, middle-aged Portuguese woman attempted to fix a botched haircut and beard trim. So, I consulted Yelp and made a same-day appointment with Dennis. My lunch meeting ran short so I got there a little early and checked the chairs in the waiting area for structural integrity. Dennis greeted me, offered me a free beer, and looped me into the existing conversation. That's all well and good but can he cut hair? Best haircut I have ever had. Once you pay a few extra bucks for someone that doesn't view your hair like a part of an assembly line then surprise surprise, your best haircut. If you don't want a good haircut then pay $10 somewhere and that is what you get. That is all I have ever really had so I didn't know how much better paying about $25 would get me. Once you see the difference you will know it is worth it. $15 extra bucks or so from a cheap place when you consider that your hair is a fashion accessory of sorts that you wear with every outfit and people don't bat an eye at $25+ for a nice t shirt you wear only 2-3 a month. While Dennis and the other barbers specialize in men's cuts they can take care of the ladies as well. Before I left I scheduled my followup appointment to get it on my calendar. read more

Donnie took his time and after asking all the right questions to figure out what I wanted. The social atmosphere is pretty cool, everyone is friendly and having a good time. Coming from NY I was used to quick cuts with not much conversation, these guy keep it entertaining. Going to need to try a weekend shave some time. 25 bucks plus tip is standard and worth it. I was definitely expecting a 15 min cut but this was somewhere around 45 mins, which I don't mind because that means they are doing it write. "Measure twice, cut once" applies to barbers as well. I got Donnie on the phone the first time I called, and I've been getting my hair cut by him since. The three guys all seem nice, and the atmosphere is great, always with some good music on and quality conversation going. Donnie has been great, taking his time with each haircut and making sure it always looks great. From an early visit, he's remembered pretty much everything I've told him and checks in on my next visit as to how various things in my life are going - the personal touch. For $30, I've never had a barber give the care he does to ensure a quality cut each time I come by. Appts are easy to make - I can generally always get a spot the same week when I call, though if I need a harder after work slot I sometimes need to book early in the next week. Can't really ask for better than that. Always checks in on whether I want anything different, remembers how I like my cut, and is happy to make recommendations. Seriously quality. I'm a bald guy and cut my own hair and trim my beard myself but wanted to treat myself. See what a pro could do compared to myself. My wife got me a gift certificate and I popped in for a head shave and beard trim. Making an appoint was very easy. Just called up and got in same day. I wasn't sure what to expect since I hadn't been into a barber shop since I lost my hair so there was a little anxiety. The staff at Dennis Best was incredibly welcoming and put me at ease.
