You like your stuff going missing? Well, with Arpin, when your stuff goes missing with them they will provide you with a replacement empty plywood box and pretend they delivered all your stuff. And then tell you that you should suck it up and deal. This plywood box which was once our pots and pans and an Instapot (along with a few other items) was 'provided' and unloaded first (before everything else) and when I asked about it I was informed that I did in-fact have a plywood box that they had moved. Assuming it was some way they used to make the items fit I didn't pursue the issue. Then later, when realizing that half our kitchen was missing I filed a claim and used the actual value of the items, nothing inflated or crazy, and Susan at Arpin said that because I signed for it that we just have to suck it up and buy ourselves new stuff because it took us a few days to go through everything and realize we were missing a box. Since, we have discovered that at least three tagged items moved across the country just disappeared. Arpin slogan: "We let your boxes fall off our trucks!" UPDATE: I CANNOT DECLARE THIS MORE EMPHATICALLY, DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Arpin did a 'trace' on something and then told me that I was screwed and after this review they sent me a check for half the value. Which is not the point, it's the principle. I have since discovered other missing items including a Canon 7d and lenses which was in a bag zipped into another bag that they boxed up and then stole. I am making sure the company I work for never uses these guys again and I am writing these reviews to steer anyone away from this company. I submitted a request online for an in home estimate, received the attached confirmation that it was received and that I would receive a phone call shortly, that was on the 11th August. To date I've not received an email or call from them at all (if they did call and it's a call I missed, they didn't even leave a message). Not one peep from them. In 12 years of military moves (this being my 7th), this was the worst one I've experienced. The movers showed up four days late at our pick-up residence in Kansas. When they did show up, they had a 26' U-Haul truck instead of a company truck/rig. This caused them to have to leave to fetch another truck at 4:30PM (after my telling the crew and calling the move coordinator, telling them all day that they'd need another truck). While loading, the crew tore up the edge of our brand-new, custom built dining room table by placing the bare wood on, first, the concrete front steps and then the sidewalk. All the driver did was tell us how long he'd been doing this job and how to file a claim (which we are intimately familiar with after 7 moves). The loading crew was very unprofessional. This need for a second truck not only caused the loading to go on until midnight, but it caused our Household shipment to be split into two shipments, stored in two locations. The Relocation Company over Arpin (TierOne or Norman Bros.) could never give me a straight answer regarding the status or whereabouts of our household goods. The delivery of our goods (at our new home in Virginia) was late (8 days and 18 days late, respectively for the two shipments). When it did arrive, it included more damages than we've ever sustained in previous moves. In addition to the minor scrapes on the dining room table edge, significant damage was done to the bottom, as if a forklift had tried to pick it up (photos below). As they uncreated our items, many objects were not wrapped, padded, or braced. Other damages included broken glass, crushed items, and broken furniture. In addition, the company lost four items of ours: American flags, a book case, a box of Christmas items, and wooden brace/slats that are critical to assembling our custom-made bedroom furniture. I will say that the delivery crew in VA was the best and most attentive that we've ever had. I had to apologize to them that they had to catch my venting and frustration over our damages and lost items. Their careful attentiveness was the one good experience I had with this company. I am currently in the claims process and will be for a long time, I think. This move experience may have committed us to DITY (Do-It-Yourself) moves or ABF shipping from now on. read more

Pretty bad- even horrible experience. Moved from Texas to Kansas. Got packed by two Spanish almost no English speaking guys. It seemed they did ok job inside the house -- not considering that communication was tricky; but when they took a treefrogs play set apart they marked with a marker huge numbers to help them put it back together. The guys who brought everything into the house in Kansas said that some other company will put the playset together and left. Then company told us on the phone that no- those guys were supposed to put it back together and that they will credit us an amount that doesn't even cover half to hire a company to assemble the all anesthetically marked up set. More to the story: Daybed was missing screws- movers lost it. So the driver instead of asking his workers to give him a lift to a Home Depot asked us after all his workers were gone. We thought it was quite unprofessional. Don't even know yet how they will handle scratches and scrapes on brand new bedroom sets and the two year old leather sectional. Also they significantly damaged deep freeze door. So not a good experience at all as we were promised and recommended. Very sad, unhappy, mad, disappointed about so many things. Still unpacking and will be filing claims. Got insurance too. So hopefully they will handle that part more professionally. read more

Not quite sure why there are so many bad reviews but I on other hand had an excellent experience! It could have been the local affiliate who handled the move or the company's reputation. Either way my experience was fantastic from start to finish! Both my moving consultant and moving help were friendly and professional the entire time. The type of relationship you would want to build a friendship on if you had the opportunity in the end! All of my belongings arrived undamaged and in the same condition as which they began their journey. It could be that I took extreme precautions in packing all of my equipment, or their precautions in on assembling and wrapping each individual item. I did my homework for this move investigating the company, and looking at most of their competitors, but overall ARPIN was chosen due to their excellent service from the start, detailed quote, and the not to exceed binding estimate. My final price came in nowhere near the estimate... In fact, about $1000 less! ARPIN is not lying when they say, creating customers for life! I will be a customer for life! Has been over a year and they still have not addressed the problems with my move. Keep in mind that one pays before Arpin actually completes the move. I suspect this practice has a lot to do with their poor performance. Since they're paid before the job is done they simply lose interest in properly completing the move. I wished I'd listened to the other negative reviews listed below but I didn't and chose to let Arpin move me. I regretted that decision and I'm still regretting it. But from the second I answered the door, I had the best possible experience with this crew! They were super polite, friendly, respectful with my stuff, communicative. In fact, we actually had fun! I had an enormous amount of stuff (14 crates, 2 trucks) and the crew of 6 was done in less than 6 hours. I rarely give 5 star reviews, but this was worth it! Come the 17th and not only was my stuff still undelivered, dispatch had no idea where it might be or when I could actually expect it. Nevertheless, I was charged the full amount on the 2nd, long before my stuff finally arrived on the 23rd. Better to rent a UHaul and DIY your cross-country move. I would rate them a zero if it let me. DO NOT USE THEM!!!!! I got a quote from Arpin, however my job was moved over to Dolphin Moving Systems. Arpin should drop this company from their business and it's their fault for allowing this to happen for their clients. The driver knowingly put our couch cushions in someones else's section on the truck. He "couldn't get to them" when they delivered our items, so assured us he would bring them back by once he did another delivery. Phone calls, texts, etc. later, we filed a claim and the joke of a company Dolphin said that our $4,000 couch would only need $100 to replace cushions. We also had a deductible, so essentially they are paying nothing. I tried desperately to get my cushions back before filing the claim and due to their negligence and extremely poor customer service, I am out the $900 for replacements. They also denied the claim for other items "not on the inventory list", which is bologna because they packed our house and chose not to put some things in a box or with a sticker. But in my opinion the sign of a good company is one that owns up to mistakes it has made and corrects them. The Navy had Arpin move my household goods to Washington Sate from San Diego and they were a nightmare to deal with. I must have called at least 20 times but no answer and they didn't return voice mails. After finally getting hold of "wookie" i think, she told me my household goods would be delivered in 3 days time and if I wasn't there they would put my stuff in storage at my expense. I explained to her I would be down in OR on business and they really should had notified me earlier or answer one of my 20 phone calls so I could have made arrangements and I got the "we only have to give you 2 days notification. By the way Wookie, if you call a client and leave a voice mail but leave no details about what your calling about, you might as well not have called. So I had to drive 400 miles back home so I could be there when Arpin decided what was best for them. Oh yea and they dropped my motorcycle in the truck because they didn't secure it correctly...thanks! Highly not recommended! read more

This is the worst company to move with. We have moved a lot including 3 times coast-to-coast. I never realized how bad things can get until we hired Arpin. They were an approved vendor with our employer so we thought it'd be ok. It wasn't. The guy who does estimates is a third party so he wasn't a part of Arpin and was ok. On the day of the move, the movers came in late and sat in their truck (literally just sat there) for hours. They were apparently waiting for more help. Their dispatch/project manager was incompetent. We had to call him three times and wait until 1 PM until things started moving...slowly. They packed in the most sloppy way, didn't wrap the furniture. Guess what, our solid wood bedroom came in broken. The bed is pretty much a goner. The floor mirror was broken and can't be fixed. Everything else is scratched/dented/dirty. As in ALL other furniture inclusive of dining room stuff, living room, kid's furniture...everything. They also ruined our bikes by taking them apart and losing parts/pedals. There's a 20K damage to our belongings. We filed a claim. Their insurance company is even worse. They are s.l.o.w, uninterested to help and simply don't give a sh.... . Don't hire them unless you want a headache of a lifetime and don't care about your belongings. read more

We are writing to express our extreme disappointment with Arpin's business practices. The best way to describe them are as profoundly unprofessional. We made the decision to move from Niskayuna, NY to Seattle, WA in mid-June and were able to book a local mover (Liedkie Moving & Storage, Inc.) to do the cross-country move. When we signed the contract with Liedkie, they agreed to pick up our stuff on July 3rd and to have it delivered no later than July 22nd. At that time, Liedkie told us that the July 22nd date was just an outside parameter, the moving truck would meet us in Seattle "a day or two" after we would arrive by car. That was the beginning of the false information we received from Liedkie - your local agent - and Arpin. To begin, Liedkie/Arpin booked us on a move without having a driver in place. While that may be "industry best practice," what it really is is a misleading and deceptive practice. How can you book a contract with a customer when you don't have a driver to deliver their belongings? As a result, our belongings sat in a Liedkie warehouse for nearly two weeks until a driver could finally be secured by Arpin. And how did we even find this out? After repeated calls to Liedkie, we were told it was "out of their hands" and that we needed to talk directly to someone at Arpin. At this point, we were halfway across the country and our belongings were still in New York. Daily calls to Arpin only added to our frustration of hearing again and again "we still are looking for a driver." Then, as the July 22nd date came closer, we were told that even though they had finally found a driver, even that date wouldn't be met. The reason why? First, we were told by Chris at Arpin that because a second Arpin customer's belongings were being picked up in Massachusetts after ours and would be delivered to Portland, OR, their shipment would need to be delivered before ours. Why you went east from Rotterdam, NY to Massachusetts, only to pass through Rotterdam, NY on the way out west, makes zero sense to us. Another "industry best practice"? We understand why there would be multiple loads on our truck, but, under the circumstances, they should have been loaded with ours on the truck last and delivered first. The reason why this is especially intriguing is that by delivering to Portland first, you would miss your own contract's July 22nd outside delivery date. This was a completely correctable situation that you ignored by picking up our belongings first and putting them in the back of the truck. On top of all this, Chris told us that our delivery would be delayed yet another day because the driver had mechanical problems with the truck. This meant that instead of delivering our goods within "a day or two" of our arrival, and instead of delivering them by the 22nd, and instead of delivering them one day late, they would arrive on the 24th, two days late. When the moving truck finally got here on July 24th, the driver was surprised to hear that he had mechanical issues because he didn't have any mechanical issues. As it turned out, it was apparently better customer service for Arpin to pay us $150 a day for the inconvenience than to not breach its own contract and tell us repeated untruths. Rest assured we will share our Arpin experience with the Better Business Bureau and will provide negative reviews everywhere we can. Deceptive and misleading practices by any business will not be tolerated. You should be embarrassed for your profoundly unprofessional service. read more

Didn't get any better. Delivery guys arguing with driver, etc. Our stuff must've been stored in a nice sweltering warehouse, a lot of my wife's pottery and wooden sculptures have deep cracks in them. I wouldn't have used these guys if I had a choice at the time, and now that I do I won't use them in the future. I never got calls when I was told someone would call, the calls came days later. When Arpin moved a dresser form our house (it weighed 400+ pounds, they didn't have enough people to lift the piece of furniture on it's side. As a result, the legs were bent. They apologized and I told them to note the damage and I'd buy a new set of legs for it. This didn't bother me, on my drive from Madison to Champaign I stopped at an Ikea store and purchased new legs. They transported a 7 foot wide dresser unsupported by its legs and put it on A SINGLE DOLLY. Then - get this, they STACKED a bunch of boxes on top and the entire dresser base broke. When they got to my house they apologized profusely about the damage and promised to replace the piece (the drawers no longer open or close. When I made my claim to Arpin about the piece they admitted to damaging, this was their reply. "Ikea furniture is not meant to be moved assembled, as it is very fragile and not likely to withstand the stresses of a move.... We do not find this to be a result of mishandling - but rather a result of defect and inherent vice of the article due to its hacked (fragile) construction." As I said, Arpin lies in so that they don't have to pay the proper claims amount. I can't urge this strongly enough - anyone considering using Aprin, please find another moving company. read more

Absolute worst company I have moved with. Apparently I cannot get a call back after submitting my inconvenience claim a month ago. It seems they will only help you if you are currently in the middle of a move (which isn't much help) or if military reps call them about their service. Not to mention the broken household goods that arrived and missing box worth near 1000.00. If your transportation office says your HHG will be moved by this company or TierOne relocation (affiliated with and in the same building) request it be changed. **Update** Was told on here and Facebook my issue would be passed up and I would be contacted. I called Mike and Brian (The VP's) several times today, nothing. No one answered. Left a message with Mike and still nothing. You'd think the person that is handling my claim would have called by now, but no. I suggest, if this company is pulling this stuff with you, contact IG and your congressman and request an investigation in to why they still have a contract to move military members with such poor service. No call and now all I get is an answering machine and every day I have left my name and number and no one has called me back. Military. Make sure TMO knows you do not want them. I am working with TMO and the BBB to file complaints. Unfortunately my company had contracted with Arpin and I was unable to switch moving companies at that point. Now I'm sitting with a 9 month old infant who is steadily losing his mind playing with the same 3 toys over and over again, everyone sleeping poorly because of the temporary sleep situation that is now 2 weeks long, and absolutely no information to help me plan for anything. Oh, I also start work in a couple days. Should I start re-buying furniture? Crib? Chairs? Clothes? I have no idea. Who will let the movers in and show them where to unpack things when I'm at work?? We chose Priority/Arpin over 3 other moving companies in April ; our moving date was mid-June. One of the reasons I chose Priority was the rep. Don followed up with me & answered all of my questions. I read reviews & asked Don about the negative things that could impact us. One of my biggest concerns was smoking. My husband is VERY allergic to smoke. We also have 3 boys who have a lot of sports memorabilia. Don assured me that everything would be treated with "kid-gloves" and we would definitely have a non-smoking crew. So I chose Priority. On our contract it says, "High value sports memorabilia. VIP packers and driver requested. Non smoking crew only." FIRST ISSUE - A few days before our move, Priority called & wanted to push our dates back. We had a number of plans contingent on the packing & move dates I had booked in April, so unfortunately, we could not be flexible. Then they told me that they could pack when we'd planned, but our stuff would have to go into storage for a while as there was a driver issue. Storing our belongings was one of the things I had questioned Don about, and he had assured me that our stuff would go directly from CA to CO and would not be stored. I insisted that this was not what we'd agreed upon. After a lot of back & forth, Priority said they could swing it without storing our stuff, but that they would need the truck to leave Wed instead of Thurs or Fri, and packing would have to be 1.5 days instead of 2. PACKING - The packers were late. There were just 3 of them & none of them has ever done the paperwork before. One guy immediately tells me they need to leave early because he has to be somewhere by 3:30 pm. They assure me that they will finish on time & will treat everything very carefully. One packer tried hard & worked hard. The other 2 did not. I expressed concern that there was so much left when they finished up that day but they assured me it would be finished on time. One of the packers then asked me for a beer. I gave one to him & asked if the other guys wanted one. He motioned to the car & I walked over. When they opened the car door, a cloud of smoke came out. They were smoking pot in the car parked in front of my house!! The next day there were just 2 packers. My family had a commitment that evening so my mother-in-law stayed at the house. When we got home, the packers had left & the house was not even close to finished. The laundry room, several closets & bathrooms hadn't been touched, and there were random items left all over. I called Don & left a message on his cell phone. When the movers/loaders arrived the next morning, they were shocked. I called Don but again did not hear back from him. The loaders called for help & packers & packing supplies from another job arrived a few hours later. So instead of the truck leaving Wed pm as was scheduled, it stayed parked in my driveway while the packing continued late into the night. The loading crew worked hard, as did the packers who were pulled off another job. It's unfortunate that we didn't have them to start with. But we didn't. The packing & loading finished on Thurs about noon. The truck driver, who had been around for days, smoked constantly. I had to clean up cigarette butts from the driveway, yard & street in front of our house left by the "non-smoking crew". This also happened in CO. MORE $$ - The next day, as we are on the road to CO, Priority calls & says it will be an additional $1800 as the driveway at our new house would be too hard for the truck to navigate & we need a shuttle. Our stuff would not be unloaded until we paid this. It was very frustrating that this possibility was not mentioned when we signed the contract. UNLOADING - crew was great. The boss of that crew said that he'd never seen things such a mess. Very few of the boxes were marked, so we had to open to them before sending them to the right rooms. Most boxes did not have a tag & almost nothing corresponded with the sheets, so there was no way for us to check off inventory. UNPACKING- Entire boxes have items just thrown in them - no paper or padding. Toys, books, framed pictures, baseballs, sports memorabilia - everything is just thrown in the boxes. My jewelry is all thrown into a bathroom box, where a pump of liquid soap has opened and gotten all over everything. It took me literally hours to clean up & untangle everything. Many family pictures and a very special wedding gift are broken. My sons' trophies, bobble-heads, candles, vases - ruined. Some tools are missing. Larger items were broken too - our refrigerator ,vacuum cleaner, elliptical machine & lawn mower. So we not only paid to have these large items shipped to CO, but now we need to replace AND pay to dispose of the broken ones. Finally, my husband's nice watch is missing. The case was packed, but it's empty. Our belongings were not respected or treated with care, and we were stolen from. I am incredibly disappointed with Priority/Arpin. read more

If promptness matters at all to you in your time of need (say when you've moved across the country and are living off suitcases/air mattresses/take out meals) I would advise against choosing Arpin. We selected them based on how their promised delivery time window aligned with our schedules and made our travel and work arrangements accordingly. The expected delivery range was already long (7 days) and they were an entire week late. They then missed that delayed delivery date again (a day where we arranged to take off work to receive the late shipment). Extreme lack of professionalism. Arriving a day after thee initial scheduled time. Driver tried to hide several broken items, however the un-packers were kind enough to notify me. Driver stated things were damaged before transit that are in pristine condition. Driver did not allow for a reweigh, and then tried to have us pay out of pocket a substantial amount of money knowing full well the government covers the cost. I do not recommend Arpin Van Lines for any future Military nor civilian transportation needs. I will be addressing this company with the Army Department of Transportation. read more

Tried to get a quote to move my stuff. They video recorded a walk-through of my home and all my belongings and then nothing. They ghosted me. Wasted my valuable time. I called the main number multiple times and talked to multiple people and told multiple times someone would get back to me but no one ever did. I contracted Arpin Van Lines to do my coast to coast household move from Hartford, CT to San Jose, CA. My household was packed up on June 6 and picked up on June 7. I was told verbally and in writing that my household would arrive no later than two weeks - June 21/June 22. It is June 21 today and my shipment has not yet arrived. In talking to Arpin Van Lines a few days ago, they noted that they can't find a driver and that my household is still sitting in a warehouse in CT. Furthermore, I've been told that there is nothing more they can do at this time (as they can't find a driver). To quote an email response "it appears that they currently have assigned to load 6/28". "Appears" is not a commitment. And, Arpin Van Lines further noted that they can't guarantee a pick-up date for my household from the warehouse or when my household will be delivered. I tried to escalate the delay and inability to find a driver, but was told there is no one to escalate to. I reached out to the President Dave Arpin of Arpin Van Lines as well as several Arpin Van Lines VPs over LinkedIn without a response. I was told that Arpin Van Lines would cover up to $150 a day for hotel and food combined. You can't find a decent hotel in Silicon Valley for under $100. My husband asked that they reduce the shipping costs or deduct the $150 from the shipping costs. They can't do so. Nothing was done professionally from beginning to end. Our furniture arrived two weeks late. No one ever explained why and no one apologized or even acted as if this was out of the ordinary. This is my first and hopefully last experience with Arpin Van Lines. Their communication and willingness to accommodate customers is dismal. On both the pick-up and drop-off ends of the move they missed their promised times by several hours. At each end I was promised a call from their driver to update me of any changes, yet received nothing. I understand that logistically things happen that cause delays, but please be respectful of other's time by calling to provide updates. The company's customer service representative was largely unhelpful and unapologetic to the situation. My experience with this company has been very unsatisfactory. read more

I submitted the information for an estimate and immediately I received 10 phone calls, text messages and 5 voice mails one after another. All of which are from different # and different people. If people can not pick up their phone at the moment, there is a reason. Assign each quote with ONE representative, simply leave a message and wait for a day to call another. No one would appreciate this bombarding tactic to force a sale. Just basic business etiquette. read more

Zero reliability or accountability. How can you trust a company with all of your possessions when you can't even trust them to show up within 48 hours of when they were scheduled? Sure they've got an "excuse," but it seems that they always have one from reading other reviews here. As if moving across the country isn't stressful enough, this company will be sure to make it an absolute NIGHTMARE. Actual quote from the driver during a phone call that occurred while he was in a completely different state and over 24 hours late already: "Well you still want moved don't ya?" No apology! No attempt to be helpful or fix the situation! Just a "You need me, so I'll get there at my own convenience" attitude. What a joke! Do yourself a favor and rent your own truck. After moving and filing our claim with DPS we were informed that items that were damaged my Arpin Van Lines would not be paid. After doing some research we found out that any item that could be damaged during the moving process were put as having previous damage. Now keep in mind the same driver loaded and delivered our items commented and complained that they had broken a lot of stuff considering they picked our stuff and that it would come back on him if we filed a claim. Funny thing is items they claimed had previous damage are sitting in my house right now with NO damage. I would not recommended this company to my worst enemy and will make sure to warn everyone that may by chance use them. A complaint will be filed tomorrow about our broken items as well as fraud by this company. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! We recently moved from GA to MA. On the local end, things went pretty well. The guys who loaded our stuff were great... and it all went down hill from there. No one would tell us when our stuff was arriving. It was supposed to be picked up from GA a couple days after it was loaded. The company couldn't get a truck to GA so it wasn't picked up until 2 weeks later! It took 3 weeks for us to get our stuff. We were supposed to get a refund because they added a shuttle to our total cost but they ended up not needing to use it- still haven't not received the $600 that they owe us and no one is returning our calls. Would NOT recommend them to anyone! read more

We moved from Illinois to Sacramento, and the experience was HORRIBLE. Their estimate was far less than what it turned out to be; they left us waiting in a home without furniture for over 23 days(!!); and their customer support refused to ever call us back. After many, many calls, we were often told, "We'll get someone to look at that", which ended up meaning, "Give us your money, thanks, bye." I would never use this company again, and recommend that anyone looking to move should consider other options if at all possible. read more

Both of my wedding rings disappeared right along with the movers! The company told me that since the rings were not listed on my inventory they could not do anything about it. Instead I filed a police report. I will never trust a moving company again with any of our PCS moves! read more

The WORST movers ever. Do not use this company or their Arpin affliliate. If I could give them 1/2 a start I would. We have issued a complaint with the BBB and they continue to give excuses for their actions. They arrived 7 hours late of the window of delivery. They called to tell us they would be late 5 hours after the stated delivery time. They arrived with ONE driver to move our 2 bedroom apartment full of stuff. My husband HAD to help and they would not compensate us due to their negligence and continued to give excuses like they do not have enough help on the weekends, there is no tariff provisions to compensate the customer for helping. WTH? For one, we did not want to help. Two, we waited ALL day for this one driver to arrive and when he did at 7pm, if my husband didn't help, the driver would have finished moving our items around midnight. They claim to treat the customer with the highest standards - they DON"T. We paid almost $4000 for our move about 600 miles away and we were treated like garbage not to mention a few broken items they have NEVER addressed either. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. If you are moving locally, use B&C Moving - they are top notch and very efficient. If you are moving long distance - use Wheaton, they are also great and both recommendations come from my experience with both businesses. Update: I have been contacted by the Chief Operating Officer of Arpin and we have been exchanging multiple emails regarding our issue. He has been the ONLY person who has understood and taken responsibility for the actions of their customer service agent and the contracted shipper who provided such appalling service. I appreciate his efforts and I upped my rating to 2 stars instead of the one. I still do not feel I can "trust" this brand moving forward. read more

Without going into much details as I left a very detailed review on BBB, I'd like to say that this is the worst moving compnay I had to deal with in 13 years of military service. We moved from Germany to US and many items were damaged and liabiliy by Arpin was denied even after submitting substantial amount of evidence of mishandling. I am in the military and not presented with the option of selecting my preffered moving company. However, if you have a choice do not opt for Arpin. read more
