I can see this place being packed on game days as there are TV's everywhere even in the bathrooms which I thought was funny haha. The chicken wasn't anything to write home about. It had a nice grill flavor but other than that not much depth. The cheese was just shredded cheese from a bag and it seemed like the salsa was from a jar. My husband got old bay wings which he loves. He said they had the perfect amount of old bay on them as many places usually skimp on the seasoning. Like any good sport's bar Arooga's is not lacking for TV screens. Worried you might miss a big play during a bathroom break? Not to fear, the urinals come equipped with screens. The restaurant is not lacking for seating either. They have a big bar, a spacious outdoor patio, and plenty of seating in the dining room. I went with a group of 5 guys to watch the UFC PPV and we were easily accommodated. As for the food, it was a mixed bag. We ordered 20 wings, which were quite good. The chicken was tender and fresh, with plenty of sauce. The buffalo chicken dip had a custom flare that made for a tasty scoop with each chip. The nashville chicken sandwich, however, was underwhelming. The sauce was too heavily seasoned with chili powder and that's about all you could taste. Also, my sweet potatoes fries were soggy (to be fair, they're harder to get right than a classic fry). Figured let's give it another try, maybe it's better. Seated quickly as it wasn't busy. Table didn't feel clean, was very sticky all over. Sat at the bar last night for a quick bite to eat and drink. It was fairly crowded at the bar area so we had to sit at the extended part of the bar. It was hard to get the server to come around to us as she was mostly in the main bar area the whole time. Got some tots and mozzarella sticks to eat and they were both nice and crispy. Definitely hit the spot while drinking a few beers. There are tvs everywhere even little personal tvs at the tables you sit at. On thanksgiving eve, they do beat the clock every year so just happen to be there for it. Later in the night it got very crowded and a DJ showed up. Arooga's is one of my favorite restaurants. If this one was closer to me I'd go all the time. It's very vegetarian friendly with multiple options including being the only place I know of that has vegan wings which I love. I wish they still had the Nashville faux hot chicken sandwich because that was my favorite, they still have the regular one for non-veg people. My favorite app is the BIG pretzel it's great to share. This location has big booths, as well as bar stool tables. I love their environmental efforts like the ethically sourced tables. Arooga's is a very easy place to get to and located right off the highway 18 in East Brunswick. I attended a party here in the outdoor seating area and although this restaurant is located right off the highway you can't hear any road noise. Ordering the food took a bit of time, but i have to give credit because we had about 40 people in the party. I ordered a cheeseburger (red), the equivalent of rare, and it came out Hot and perfectly cooked. I substituted the tater tots instead of fries. I was not impressed with them, i felt like they were a bit cold on the inside and could have been cooked longer. The inside has lots of TV's and a big bar. There is plenty of seating inside as well. The place was clean, air conditioned and would definitely return again. I was able to get a 10% discount when i checked in, which was a nice surprise. read more

Hi! This is a good spot for anyone looking for a semi-solid bite in the East Brunswick area. It's not luxurious, of course. But an adequate sports bar for sports fans, as they have a NUMBER of flat screened tvs on most of the walls. My friend brought up the fact that they should have more beer specials, as they have a myriad of beers on tap. The food, in my opinion, is decent. I've had the shrimp tacos numerous times. The flour tortilla is rather bland, but I do like pouring some of their in-house hot sauce on top and eating the shrimp with their mango salad slaw inside of the shell. (With maybe some tomatoes). The burger I ordered was OK, the blue cheese tasted a bit like rubber or something - so I would avoid that. But I appreciate the sweet potato fries with the marshmallowy dip they give on the side. I came to pick up a take-out order here over the summer. I waited for what seemed a very long time (I read a children's short story on my phone and witnessed multiple ppl pick up their orders before they gave me mine which was running late), however, the staff are always as cordial and attentive as possible. I came one afternoon and sat at their outside patio, had a wine and some guac, salsa and chips and did feel calmer with the sun and wind blowing on my face, even if most of it was from Route 18 LOL. This was a modern sports bar with a number of large televisions showing various games. There were also several televisions located in individual booths for one to view a specific event. The menu had a number of interesting options including a lot of "impossible" dishes. The service was not the best. First, a person in my party asked if the salads had a different type of green because all of the salads had romaine lettuce, which was previously recalled. The confused waiter seemed to think their lettuce was okay. He just did not seem to know romaine was recently recalled and did not bother to ask the kitchen. He also forgot a sauce that somebody asked for. It was just not the best service overall. For appetizers, 2 plates of 20 original wings ($22.99 per 20) were ordered. The kinda hot medium and buffaque sauces were on the wings. The wings were on the smaller side, but good quality. Both sauces were appetizing. The kinda hot medium sauce was just that, a tad on the hot side. The buffaque had a great blend of buffalo and BBQ sauce present, very good. The peanut butter and jealousy burger ($11.99) with fries was ordered. It consisted of peanut butter, strawberry jam, and bacon on a brioche bun. It was ordered "pink" and that was how it came out. One of the complaints I had about this was the ratio of peanut butter and jam. There was too much jam present. The flavors actually went together well with one another including the bacon, but just too much jam. The fries were alright, a little under seasoned and not crunchy enough. Will I go back? Overall, mid. We went after a long day at the beach to relax/eat some food. Overall, Arooga's is a clean place with some interesting typography splashed on the walls. You even get your own lil iPad to watch games at each table. I get bdubs vibes with better drinks. Food was ok. We got the impossible nachos, a "boli", and basic chicken/fries. Fries were mid. Chicken mid. The boli however was apparently really good. So if you eat meat, get that. I did appreciate that they had a lot of vegetarian options. I went for the impossible nachos because nachos are OP. They actually did a great job with the nacho sauce. Unlike anything I had before. I wouldn't say I would get it again, but it was a unique combination of ingredients/cheese to make that sauce. Oh yeah and the impossible meat was solid as well. They took almost 30 minutes to split the check 6 ways for us. That is ridiculous. Went on a Saturday night with the hubby and went home feeling like we'd just been robbed of a child free date night. Service wasn't friendly or helpful. We started with drinks. The Buffalo chicken dip was phenomenal, would've liked some cheese in it but overall creamy and perfect amount of Buffalo. Also had the mozzarella triangles which, when pulled apart, create the best cheese pulls! I had the brunch burger which was, I have to say, an unexpectedly amazing burger. The meat was juicy, the egg was nice and runny, and the bacon on it was very crispy. Ended the meal with a delicious pizza cookie. It was giant and very chocolaty, but somehow my friend and I finished the whole thing! There are tons of interesting and unique appetizers to try and I definitely would be happy to come back! First, I have to tell you that my wife and I disagreed right from the beginning as to whether or not we should go to Arooga's. While I always love the food, which I take out often, the quality of service at Arroga's is alway substandard and among the worst of all the places I visit. This time I turned out to be right once again. We walked in, was seated immediately and proceeded to wait for 15 minutes for anyone to come to our table. Finally, the manager came to the table and apologized for the delay. I must say this manager was very good and offered to take our order immediately. We finally ordered as the waitress came over to the table which she did with a smile. I was so excited because I thought my service issues may be wrong. Unfortunately, it was wrong. That waitress disappeared and after 35 minutes I realized that my excitement was short lived at hoping for great service at Arooga's. I guess I was obvious because that same manager came over to me again and apologized for the delay and promises that the food would be out shortly. 15 minutes later the food was delivered by the manager. He once again apologized for the delay. 15 minutes after delivery of food the waitress that pretty much disappeared came to the table and asked if everything was alright. Seriously? As I stated before, Arooga's food is delicious. In closing, I you have patience and time this is the place for you. If you are like me that wants good service and good food I would highly recommend either taking out from Arooga's or going somewhere else. I am thankful for the manager that was there but frankly service is a mess at this location and he needs to clean it up. read more

I hosted a small tailgate party at Aroogas a few weeks back for my daughter and her friends. We were there to watch the Rutgers Penn State football game. The cocktail and beer prices are very reasonable. Jack Daniels cocktails were $7 a clip which in today's day and age is a good price. Blanton's single was $12 while a double was $15 The food is above average, more hits than misses. The wings are solid, the sliders so so The outdoor patio was beautiful, covered with heaters built into the roof and propane heaters surrounding the patio. We were all comfortable on a 45 degree day. Tv's adorn the area so you won't miss a minute of the game. The service was very good. I am looking forward to going back to watch a game and throw a few down. read more

One of their servers/ bartenders I believe his name was billy had a terrible attitude with me and my family 2 Thursdays ago and I didn't want to leave a review on the business but I had to let them be aware of who they have hired. I remember him at B2 Bistros in north Brunswick and he had the same attitude and shitty work ethic and had no respect for the customers needs. He brought out the wrong food twice and when he finally brought the right food out the pretzel was cold and the beer cheese dipping sauce was cold as well and we brought it to his attention and he disregarded it and went on with his day. Then when we asked for a refill he said " yo hold up" and then never came back to the table until we were done with our meals. Overall great place just a bad experience with one bad staff member. Stopped in here on a Wednesday after work to meet a few buddies. I had heard it's always crowded but honestly it was dead. We got a table but were waiting for one more and his son. Our waitress got us waters and we took our time ordering. Ordered a kids meal which came out incorrect and was dropped by a food runner, but she noticed and fixed it. Another reason why I hate the food runner idea. The menu is HUGE, maybe even too many options. Ordered buffalo chicken dip appetizer, average and chips were very salty. For dinner 2 of us got the brunch burger, which you can't order "medium rare" it's one of those some pink/no pink places which is just stupid. Make my burger medium rare, not the medium that it came out. Burger wasn't bad, meat could use some more seasoning. French fries that came with it were so salty, not a fan. Others got ribs & wings and a salad. Both said they were average which seemed to be the running theme. Seems like a cool spot for beers and to watch sports, because the bar is huge, tvs everywhere and a good draft beer selection. I'd come back, probably more for apps or to try something else food wise. I could definitely see myself watching some football here though. Average spot. We are awaiting for this place to open in the Howell location so we are awaiting that location. When I arrived it took 3 minutes to be seated with only 1 person ahead to be seated. Menus are digital so bring your phone! When we sat, we took close to 10 minutes to be approached by our waitress (ama) for our orders. By then we ordered our drinks and food at the same time. I looked at others sat after us and were approached right away. People at other tables got there drinks first and they sat later then us!!! Sorry to say this waitress needs this feedback to understand this need to change. The menu options are really fun. I saw a peanut butter and jelly burger!!! Various items all over the menu. My wife ordered the Alaskan Cod. The fish was moist and flaky. The beer batter added to the flavor of the meal. Didn't need tarter sauce. Perfect with the fresh lemon. Fried also delicious. I personal was ok on the Coleslaw. I ordered the original Boli with pepperoni. This was a surprise how it good it was. Comparing this to pizza restaurants, it was fresh and a different taste I never had in a Stromboli name. They added mustard in the Stromboli. Never had that and I enjoyed it. It didn't need the Tomato sauce on the side. I finished too! Didn't think I could. With the disappoint of the waitress and service, I recommend trying once, definitely worth take out. The food could be better and for the price, I think they could be a little more generous with the portions. I ordered the cranberry walnut spinach salad. It was $10.99 and for the portion they gave, I could of gotten a half sized salad at Panera for cheaper. Granted it was good but overpriced in my opinion. My husband ordered the philly cheese steak, which was too salty and only half filled with steak. We also ordered the appetizer sampler which came out after our main dishes. The waitress apologized for the delay and stated that they were still working things out. The sampler came with mozzarella triangles, perogies, boneless buffalo wings, and 2 mini cheeseburger sliders. Sadly to say, nothing left me wanting to come back to try other things. I'm really not into these types of sports bars. It was extremely loud and there are television screens everywhere, so it is super distracting. The food isn't anything to write home about. Cheap ingredients with lots of fillers. Lots of deep fried stuff and grilled meats smothered in high sugar/high sodium sauces. The drinks are too sweet and overall unhealthy. They could handle our birthday dinner party just fine, but the staff seems very inexperienced too. There was a "sexy" waitress trying to sell Jello shots table to table.. so thats really gimmick-y. It's been over a year since we last visited Arooga's in East Brunswick and while we never considered this a place for exceptional food, it was mostly clean. So much for that thought since the place was absolutely filthy this time (see photos). The bench also had food on it and the table was sticky. I'd like to offer the benefit of the doubt since we walked in to one of the few places in town that offers late night hours. However, with a 9:30pm arrival there were 4+ hours of operational time remaining to maintain cleaner surroundings. Not to mention that by this time the restaurant was only half full at most with patrons. Two staff members were seen making a laughable attempt to sweep the floor at different times but the photos were taken on the way out of the restaurant. I will give credit where credit is due and that was with our waitress who attended to us quickly and conducted the right amount of check-ins during the meal. She was a little on the quiet side though, which was a tad bit difficult to work through with the blaring audio. As for the $47+ of food, we had a "meh" experience. The garlic parmesan original wings had some zing but came out awfully quick and lukewarm. The It's Soo Gouda burgers were cooked right but were just plain boring with steak fries that were lifeless and barely warm. (And for anyone wondering, we do not send food back having first hand knowledge of what can happen when you do that.) Experiences like this make me long for the great 24-hour diners of North Jersey. Please hold your restaurant managers accountable if you're paying them fairly, Arooga's. Then maybe we'll be back. read more
