It came wrapped in hard plastic that you need to cut with a knife or scissors to open. I believe the item was defective. I could get it to work to either turn the lights on or shut them off but not both. I went to the store, with my receipt, to return the item. At first, they stated they got it working and it was not defective. ( They actually got it to turn on an item which I also did). Then they said they could not accept the return because I did not have the original packaging and therefore they could not resell it. I asked how are they going to sell an item that is not working properly. They still refused to accept the return. I left the timer with them and walked out of the store. We will never return.
