I had under 24 hours notice to get a plaque for an employee. Arnold Engravers were able to get me what I needed by the next morning. It looked great and is exactly what I needed. Chuck did perform a good job. Communication was challenging at the beginning but I figured out that it's better to call them than to e-mail. At first they told me the engraving will cost me $25, when I e-mailed a sample of the writing I need they said it will be $30, than they sent me a proof with a $40 price on it and when I came to pick it up they charge me $35 +tax. I don't get why would they quote different price. Does it depend on a day of the week?! Overall I would recommend this company and will use it again unless I found someone who does a better job and knows their prices. read more

I work at a place that used to send quite a bit of business to them. The business gradually started to have poor customer service and poor results. I have to call them to see if it's ready yet as oppose to them calling me. One time they said it was ready and when I walked the 1.5 miles to get it, it wasn't ready. The last time, they tried to give me a scratched plate, full price. When I told them that I wanted one that wasn't scratched, they asked me to come back the next day and didn't even apologize. I have switched our department to a new engraver that does amazing work. I would NOT recommend Arnold Engravers for any service. read more

These guys provide same day turnaround for a lot of items, which is amazing. They are right downtown and you can either pick up the items or have the couriered to you. Our non-profit randomly found Arnold Engravers through a basic Google search a week before we needed 4 finished items. We stopped by his store and another store on the same day, receiving the same magazine of options at each store. Andy was 100+ more friendly and knowledgeable with what products he had in stock, what he could do on each item, and how quickly it would be done (while also charging less). We worked with him and Chuck to confirm products, logos, layouts, and price. They were both very accommodating, detail-oriented, and transparent throughout the entire process. Our 2 plaques, 1 award, and 1 name plate all arrived a day early looking better than any of us imagined! We strongly recommend their services to anyone looking for high quality products in the DC area, and we would readily use them again on any future projects! read more

I dropped off a recognition medal for engraving over two weeks ago in person and the person said they shouldn't have any problems and only asked me to write my name and phone number on the paper with the text for engraving. Two weeks later, no phone calls so I call them to find out the status and the person who answers the phone can't find it and to call back later. I call again in the afternoon and another person tells me they couldn't engrave it but they can make a plaque for it which would not look good. I tell them no one told me that when I dropped it off and that's not what we want and then he just hung up on me. I call back again only to be hung up on again. Terrible customer service. read more

I've always had a good experience here, and have used this company for years. Unfortunately, I went in recently to ask for a copy of a receipt, since I'd misplaced the original. The person who helped me seemed really angry that I would ask for a copy of the receipt, and asked what happened to the first one. When he found the copy on the computer, he said passive aggressively, "Says here it was printed when you picked it up." I could not understand why such a simple request would elicit so much anger. Chuck has been very accommodating and performed excellent work for me last year (2015), so much so that I came back again this year (2016)! While Chuck does use email to send proofs, I agree with Lisa H. (11/12/15) that telephone communication is better. In person discussion also works well. read more

I am extremely grateful to them since we lost copies of our proofs from previous year's awards and they were able to give us exactly what we had ordered in the past--and they were very prompt and thorough in delivering us this information. This is a very fast paced store, lots of calls coming through when I was there to pick up a delivery, so I was very impressed with how much care and time they put forth with helping me out. My awards were all exactly how I ordered them and for the time frame I placed them I received them promptly. What I have to say regarding the negative reviews is that I was shocked, all I can say is you can't please them all! Use ANYONE ELSE. I had gone into their office to place my order and paid up front. They promised to have it sent up to the Art Gallery upstairs early the next week. I followed up later the following week and they had no idea what I was talking about. On top of forgetting about my order, they were incredible rude to me. The website has a link for "urgent needs" and when I called they said ordering Wednesday morning it would be no problem to get a trophy on Friday morning. Wrong. Andy said he would email a proof on Thursday morning, but never did. Our director went for pick up on Friday and was told I had approved the proof (that I never received) and then engraved someone else's logo on our trophy. When our director pointed that out he said we'd have to come back in an hour and quickly sent me a proof. We decided we'd rather live without a trophy than go back and forth with them all day. read more

The customer service is terrible. When I called to ask about getting a plated tray (as opposed to pure silver or pure pewter) engraved, the person who answered the phone was very brusque and rude. He told me "just bring it in" multiple times rather than patiently listening to me or asking me questions that could help me make a decision. When I brought the tray in, one of the employees was extremely aggressive, to the point of nearly shouting at me, as he told me what might go wrong. Though I appreciated his point that the plating might peel off if he engraved on it, I didn't appreciate his angry, aggressive attitude. I just wanted to know what the options were and make a smart decision. The employee just kept repeating "well, I can't be responsible if anything goes wrong" and then tried to sell me another object to engrave on. When I decided to have them engrave on a silver plaque and affix that to the tray, the employee said, "Well I think that will look tacky" and when I picked it up, he told me it looked terrible. I was really irritated by those comments because this tray was a gift for someone and I thought it looked very nice. Since I was paying the guy to do the engraving, I really wish he had just kept his opinion to himself and let the customer decide what looks nice. The actual engraving was good, and the price was pretty reasonable too. The problem with this business is the customer service. They treat customers badly, are outright rude and aggressive, and make the whole experience unpleasant. read more
