I finally became a member here and the experience has been incredible…read more The special 20 min workouts are perfect for my family/work life and I get high quality workouts in a short period of time. Every single coach I have worked with has been knowledgeable, encouraging, kind and push me to exceed limits. I have met the owner who is there frequently and he is very nice and knowledgeable as well. The manager is supportive, understanding and extremely knowledgeable as well. This is certainly not your typical gym and if you are looking for an innovative workout, this is for you! Added bonus, it's spotless, extremely clean and organized which I find to be very important when I find a place I will be considering a second home. If you enjoy new challenges when working out, go do a demo, you will not regret it!

I really enjoyed the work out and the people here, but this corporate policy has completely soured my desire to continue to work with this business. Response to Body20: If body20 actually wanted people to have support in using their sessions they've paid for, they wouldn't create more barriers like denying access to scheduling on the app. I loved this way of working out, but the punitive features of freezing an account to use already paid for sessions is gross. I don't like working with companies that do this and I wish you all the best. I simply wanted to warn others that if they don't use their sessions within a month and freeze their account, Body20 will create more barriers to use those paid for sessions. I simply want everyone to be informed of the policies to make informed decisions for themselves.

As I walked back to my car I asked a member if she knew when they opened. She said 9:00 but when she realized it was after 9 she said "oh I think they just changed it". But everything posted says 9:00. Not sure what's going on there but definitely a horrible first impression. I was really hoping to sign up there, it's right by my house.

I can't afford a person trainer in which I would need for the problems that I have that I would have to have a trainer to do the do it right but there's good people there. I just wish they had a little more. Maybe one of those classes but I guess it's just not meant to be right now. But it sure would be nice. Remember I talked to one of the district managers on the phone and I told him that the arthritis was pretty bad and my back was this messed up and he was nice and he just said oh that's that's hard to manage. I was just looking for an answer or hoping for one like well. It's always the fact that it's never too late, but you have to know how to build the muscles up so you don't hurt yourself worse and the only way to do that is with the trainer and unfortunately they need to work too and I can't afford that. I just wish that when he said that that's hard to manage. That's not what I was going there far or asking about. I go to my doctor to manage that. I don't go to the gym to do that. I would love to have the muscles in my back. Just a little bit more stronger. It's never too late. That's what they say but I was told it's hard to manage so that's kind of why I've never went back in there. They've got awesome trainers but I don't even know if it cost to get a consultation. That's what I was looking for. Also come in. We'll have a consultation but instead I got it's hard to manage so that's why I haven't been back in there. That's just me

The instructors are all fabulous and very encouraging. They are very supportive of a new person trying to do the exercises properly. The 45 and 60 minute classes are over before you know it and you feel great mentally and physically afterwards. You can tailor things to your strengths and weaknesses with different sized weights and alternate positions. There are people of all ages and sizes. I can't recommend it enough.

The next two teachers didn't work as well for me - clearly knew their stuff, but weren't oriented toward beginners and seemed irritated when I would ask questions. I emailed the owner, Melissa, to give her some feedback on this and ask her advice. When I sent that message - friendly, complimentary of much of my experience while critical of the lack of beginner support - I expected a response in kind. Instead, I got some of what seemed like random boilerplate ("we offer group exercise classes" - yes, I know, I've been to three of them!), some defensiveness ("my teachers have worked here for five years!"), and some PR-speak ("Barre3 is as much about community as the workout itself. Our goal is for our clients to leave feeling stronger and more empowered"), but very few answers. I asked which teachers would be best for beginners and was told "all of our teachers have their own teaching style," which doesn't help. Melissa did say she would show me the moves to help set me up for success. I also asked why they didn't have any plus-size clothing in their boutique area up front, and was told that they carry only a limited selection in the store but they have a sign stating they'll special-order other sizes. She even sent me a picture of the sign, which cracked me up - I believed her. I mentioned in my email reply that having any item in the store in a plus size would have helped me feel more included, and the answer was, "We are absolutely inclusive." That's....not how that works. I had no idea when I sent my initial message that I was going to end up being unwilling to go back to this studio! I'd expected a conversation to happen and for me to go back to certain teachers that were best for beginners, perhaps armed with modifications. But Melissa was so defensive and so unwelcoming that I don't feel comfortable returning. Luckily, there are many more barre studios in St. Louis.
