Equipment maintenance issues as well, like half of the cardio machines have something wrong with them, eg the heart beat sensor is broken. One time I almost got flung off a treadmill because the belt would occasionally but very suddenly change speeds! The owner is raunchy and doesn't seem to care about my business. As well, he expresses distaste towards LGBTQ individuals. I give 2 stars, because the rest of the staff are awesome and very respectful, and there is enough working equipment to get a satisfactory workout. But the cleanliness, poor equipment maintenance, and especially the owner's conduct, have soured my opinion of this gym.

He is committed to supporting you in your goals, very easy going while still providing the accountability and the push you need for training. He is very conscious of form and breathing. He is consistently supporting his clients in noticing what muscles are being worked & adjusting if there are any aches or pains (and the adjustments are just as good if not better than the original exercise!). I love the intuitive movement and embodiment that this encourages! Also, the atmosphere at Maryville Fitness is truly very welcoming of all body sizes & abilities, which can be hard to find in a gym. In addition to all of these things, I love that we can schedule our own workouts on our own time via an app & there are plenty of times to choose from. This has been extremely supportive to me in being consistent, which I have been the entire time I've been going - which is a big deal for me! Lastly - there are no mirrors and no intimidation! I could go on and on about how great Maryville Fitness is - I cannot believe we have access to such a great gym/training experience right here in our community! I was told that a pool, sauna, red light therapy, and tanning were there at that location. I was also told there was a large womens area but it was being cleaned so I could not see them. I also asked abut childcare and was told it was there and kids up to 14 could be there. Childcare, pool, and a large womens areas were musts for me to have I told them. I signed up after only being shown the main workout areas Only as that is all I was allowed to see. Before signing up, I was told 1 free training session was included, but After I got my membership activated I was told all sessions were charged for and I could return to work out but could not do it right away. When I came for my first workout I was upset to find it has: * no pool * no red light therapy * no tanning * no large womens workout room (only a small one the size a a house bedroom with many woman cramped in there with very limited equipment to share). It was so dark it was hard to see and sometimes women stumbled on weights or items on the floor. The music was hit or miss with either pop or hard rap. Many times, the rap had explicit lyrics and references to killing or drugs and N-word being dropped which I did not care for. * the childcare was limited in capacity because only 1 person was working in it to watch all the kids in the room alone. He told me it fills up fast all the time due to this. *the main workout rooms are the only places you can ensure equipment is available, but you have no privacy I had to do a year of membership or I was told I would receive a cancellation fee and have to pay the remaining contract on a year long commitment for membership despite the fact everything I told them I needed they said they had they did not. After a year, I attempted a cancellation with their help but the cancellation did not take. They did it for me at their desk. We did it again 2 months later when I noticed I was still being charged for it. Again, it failed to cancel. Many months later, I figured that out. I finally got it to cancel when they had me do it as a kiosk, because they were not willing to help me with the cancellation process again, and I did it at different kiosks so the order to cancel had been made many times into their system. It was the only time the cancellation actually worked. This was the first gym I had attended after Gold's closed and it put me off trying another for a while. It was such an awful experience. I cannot recommend it.

There's definitely been a consistent issue with cleanliness in the locker rooms, at least I can only speak for the women's locker room. When I first started attending this YMCA the locker room was outdated, floors were dirty, and the bathroom sinks were just as dirty as the floor. They've renovated the bathrooms somewhat recently, which is great anduch needed. However, the floors and sinks, although newish, are dirty again. I don't know if someone regularly cleans the bathroom and locker room, if so, it doesn't look like it. Messed with my credit and everything now I'm having to deal with this ignorance after I already dealt with them and cancelled how I was needed to correctly. This place is not where you want to do business and they're not even accredited by the BBB.
