I look forward to working with her every day. Like a lot of the other reviews mention; I don't even feel like I've been there an hour; it goes by so fast! But the workouts are intense and are set up in a way that I always feel motivated to push myself. (More than I ever have before) I am happy to report that I am signing up for a year membership; as well as their 6 week body transformation that starts in a couple of weeks. (Nutrition based). If you haven't found a gym or program that works for you, I urge you to try TF for a month!

I first learned about Torched on Facebook. I was hesitant to get started but bit the bullet and…read moresigned up for a boot camp. WOW. I have belonged to several gyms over the years and they don't hold a candle to Torched. I went to 24 Hour Fitness for the hours but it didn't stick. I tried Club Fitness for the price but it was really intimidating and I wound up feeling lost and out of place the whole time. I gave up on gym life for a while but eventually was lured to Planet Fitness by their promise of a no judgement zone. Sure, I never felt judged but it also never felt like a gym. It was too easy to talk myself into biking for ten minutes then getting a massage. Eventually I wound up using it pretty much just for the tanning. So fast forward to the beginning of 2018 and I'm the heaviest I've ever been, looking at a rigorous work/school schedule, and trying to have a baby with my husband. I needed a change. So I signed up for Torched and had a sit down with Jeremy, the head dude. We talked about my goals and about where I had failed - nix that - where my gyms had failed me before. I bought his sales pitch and decided to try out the 6 week boot camp because, worst case scenario, it's only six weeks, right? DUDE. I was a little nervous the first day because I've never done this sort of pseudo-cross-fit-circuit-training type of thing before. The trainer, Daniel, was a star, though, and walked me through it step by step. The second day was easier, then the third, until suddenly I realize I'm three weeks in and I'm LOVING IT. I go at 5am and see pretty much the same people every week. I feel like I'm making friends - I look forward to seeing them and working out with a great group of people keeps me motivated to keep pushing forward when I'm tired and want to stop. Everyone I've met has been friendly and kind and motivated to work hard and do better. The trainer in the morning, Emily, is brilliant. I pulled a muscle and hurt my knee (not at the gym!) during the boot camp and she was right there with me during my workouts to make sure that I was taking care of my injuries while still getting the most out of my time. Well, sadly I didn't finish the boot camp, but for good reason. The last week I found out I'm pregnant! I sat down with Jeremy again and we talked it all through. He's super supportive and is dedicated to making sure that I can still have a safe, effective workout throughout my pregnancy. I signed up for a whole year! Never in my life did I ever think that *I* would love going to the gym (mostly because video games are amazing and pizza is like crack). I guess it took finding the right gym.

It had become more apparent recently that this gym was very focused on gaining new membership, which was fine. One of the owners seemed solely focused on this (and money) to the point of always "doing business" during training hours and always talking about money. He had no interest in actually training people, which is what he used to do. There was definitely greed showing. There also seemed to be recent big box gym type tactics that try to lure in vulnerable people (15 lbs in 30 days or my money back!) This became a huge turn off to me. During COVID, the gym shut down. The prices (which are personal training type prices) did NOT CHANGE. I accepted it for about 6 weeks before finally feeling like it was a waste of money. At this point my husband and I were about $1k deep with no gym time. I was not using the online workout tools (you can find free apps everywhere) and videos on how to do a push up, etc. Upon finally asking about this and how the price would be adjusted, the response was defensive and coined as if coming from a script. They eventually said I could have "paused" the payments. Why couldn't this have been done at the beginning and why did I have to ask? So some people had their payments paused but not me? In summary, I think some of what's going on here is fine but I think the focus has really changed and they are money/client hungry (I once saw "be a millionaire" on a whiteboard goals list). The hours have shortened, the price has increased and it's also not like the place is full of nice new equipment (a lot of taped up, used, etc.). It was actually quite sad after all these years to leave but an owner thanked me for my "couple years" of being a client and off I go.
