Having just completed a three-way move of our household belongings (most to another nearby house in NW Connecticut, some to our home in southern Connecticut, and many to Delaware), we could not be happier with Arnoff's moving services. David Osterhoudt spent several hours with us well in advance of the move, walking through a five bedroom house from top to bottom and listening carefully as we asked questions and identified different destinations for different belongings. Denise Peterson was most helpful in coordinating the stages of the move (which required several days just on the departing end). Above all, over the days of the actual move, Robert and his crew of movers proved just wonderful. They were extraordinarily patient with us, and amazingly speedy (yet scrupulously careful) in packing fragile items. They navigated heavy furniture through narrow doorways and halls with nary a scratch (and remarkable good humor). Recognizing that our room air conditioners had moved ahead of us to our new nearby location, they hurried to get most of the local portion of our move done in the first day, so that we could sleep comfortably on a night of torrid weather. Scheduling an 8 am arrival at our place outside New Haven, they arrived on the dot (well, actually two minutes early) and unloaded everything for that location carefully and quickly. Though we were not in Delaware to receive the last goods that constituted the last portion of the move, we were told by others who met Robert and the guys that they did equally fine work down there. Over decades of marriage, we have endured a number of moves. Moving is always a stressful time. But this move -- the most complicated of all -- was undoubtedly our best experience in terms of utterly professional and supportive moving service. If we could give six stars, we would! read more

Randomly closed during posted hours. A real annoyance when you've driven from far away.

My last three experiences were very disappointing, with inept, rude and incompetent sales help. Although I called in advance to double-check on supply availability and service, (to avoid a wasted trip out) upon arrival I was told that they did NOT have what I'd previously called to confirm and needed. On my second trip, I was told to come back because the manager was not on the premises. (Why they were unable to use the phone and call for assistance is still a mystery.) On my final trip, the saleswoman once again informed me that the manager was not on the premises also letting me know she did not know how to do the transaction required, and became defensive and belligerent... It was a simple return. Why would a manager leave someone in charge who was so obviously unqualified to do the job? Three negative experiences were more than enough to convince me to find an alternative shipper and supplier. read more

I brought in a painting to be packed for a hand-carry on a train. They wrapped it up expertly in bubble wrap with twine and a handle. It was ready quickly, perfectly done and, most importantly, they were extremely friendly about everything. read more

On 1/31 at approximately 2:55pm, a tractor trailer owned by Arnoff Moving was driving on I-87 around the exit 8 area (White Plains area I believe). I was traveling 62mph (speed limit is 55) when the truck began tailgating me and flashing its lights. There was a car not too far in front of me, so I was confused why the truck driver was flashing the lights. The truck driver proceeded to move to the left lane, speed ahead, did not signal but began merging into my lane even though my car was directly to the right of the truck. This led him to driving in between two lanes for some distance (again with my car directly to his right) because he was trying to cut me off and didn't have the space to merge correctly because there was a car already (closely) in front of me. I began honking my horn repeatedly, which he ignored. I was able to shift to the right lane luckily because there were no cars next to me. Before this event occurred, I noted the truck had been driving on I-95 in the center lane and, once again, did not signal to change lanes and at the very last minute he took exit 21, which leads to I-87. I don't know what kind of people Arnoff Moving employs, but they obviously need to sit in additional driving classes. An accident could've happened because that driver wanted to drive like a deranged animal. Last time I checked I-87 is a highway and not a NASCAR race track. read more

I used Arnoff years ago and had planned to use them again to do a long distance move. I called them 3 times and also did an online quote request, and still no one has responded to my request for a quote. Each time I called I was told someone would call me back. Dead silence. Very disappointed. read more

I initially filled out a request for a moving quote online and although I was promptly called initially, it seems I cannot get a call back from Dave O. who is supposed to actually do the quote. I made it very clear that this move is time-sensitive. After I didn't get a call from Dave for about 4 days, I called again. I was told he was in a meeting and the receptionist said she would have him call me as soon as the meeting got out. That particular call was about four days ago. I am now left without an estimate, and without moving company booked. I have now inquired at a different company. It is discouraging to me that you tell people you will call them back and over a week goes by, and nobody ever calls me. I shouldn't have to keep calling. What kind of customer service is that??? Even if I were called now, I don't think I would use this company. This is inexcusable in my book. If you can't even get me an estimate in a timely fashion, it certainly makes me lack confidence in hiring you a big move. Sorry, I'm moving on. If you are too busy to call people back, you ought to perhaps hire more staff. UPDATE: Changing my one star to two stars because I think it's great that they took the time to reply to my review. I'll consider you in the future - I know it was a crazy busy time period with everyone trying to move before Labor Day. I get that. Thanks for writing back. Sincerely, Kym read more
