The furnace tech diagnosed the furnace as needing at least a new control board and couldn't be sure other parts weren't bad. The furnace was full of ice. Based on the price of the potential repairs, it made more sense to replace the furnace. The installers arrived first thing the next morning and we had heat around lunch time. Everyone from Chapman was clean, courteous and did great work. It wasn't cheap for any of this, but we feel that the prices were reasonable, especially since we were 100% done the very next day.

This time around, I've gotten the chance to try out Chapman to address some electrical issues in the house. Truthfully, I wasn't aware that Chapman handled electrical. I'd begun having some significant electrical issues a couple weeks before Thanksgiving. I called another company that I'd used for a smaller project with good results. They came over and did some minor adjustments, however, they noted there were significant issues and planned to send me an estimate. They did let me know this "fix" was more like a band-aid and the significant work was inevitable. It was less than a day when the "band-aid" stopped working. I waited a bit anticipating their estimate, though also disappointed that they'd done such a weak fix. Finally, things got WAY worse. It was shortly before Thanksgiving and the situation was urgent. I left a message for Chapman anticipating that I was likely out of luck for the holiday weekend. My general sense was that was their plan, too. However, I think the rep (I believe her name was Hannah) heard the panic in my voice and I explained my situation. She arranged for a technician to visit the house the next day. This tech did agree that the issue was serious and warranted a few major repairs. He explained it well and explained my options. To be honest, I'm usually quite cheap. However, when he gave me two options I went with the more expensive option as I really wanted to make sure the fix was done properly. I was tired of band-aids. They used my initial service call as a down payment and the electrician, Rodney as I recall, scheduled it and made sure he would be the electrician for the project (NOTE: In reality, this ended up being a 2-3 person job). The only slight hiccup was that I'd been told they'd arrive at 8am. In reality, I called them at 10am and learned they were having trouble finding one needed part. That was fine, though I should have been called. Around 11:15, and somewhat surprisingly, they arrived and dug in. Seven hours later? They were done. I was particularly touched by a neat gesture - I'm a wheelchair user. In their estimate, the electrician had written that he'd be putting my new panel in at wheelchair height. This wasn't something I asked for particularly, however, it was a pretty cool gesture recognizing my needs. Rodney explained everything and was entirely work focused. He completed the work as promised and the cost was exactly as quoted. He explained a couple other concerns - including one that wouldn't be a Chapman issue, however, he explained how it could impact the electric. I've now had Chapman work on my furnace and my electric. Are they more expensive? Yeah, I'd say so. If you're looking for a budget electrician, Chapman probably isn't that. However, in all three visits the work has been done and done well. They've avoided band-aids and actually fixed issues. Their quotes have been accurate. The employees have been professional. With the exception of today's tardiness, the experiences have all been impeccable. Truthfully, I should have likely called Chapman first. While I may not call them for smaller issues, the truth is for me it's worth a bit more to get the work done right. The work is warrantied and I now have a system that should last for years and is also accessible. That other company? I still don't have their estimate. Chapman wins.

The best HVAC outfit in the area…read more TLDR: Honest owner; Extremely prompt & responsive; Transparent estimates with no upsell; Final invoice came in BELOW my estimate while getting BETTER equipment than ordered; Install was very smooth even with challenges; Installation was very well planned and executed brilliantly; Workmanship is top notch with very clean fabrication If you're looking for a solid HVAC team, I'd 100% tell you to hit up A Perfect Climate. Sean (owner) and his team are an absolute pleasure to deal with from start to finish. Sean personally walks customers through the best equipment choices for the home & budget, plans the install and supervises. You can tell he's very thoughtful and takes great pride in their work. Sean breaks down what you should get based on your home size, what will fit, how much efficiency you desire / ideal SEER, warranties and also talks you through budget vs. how long you plan on staying in the home. There is no upsell and he only sources high end equipment directly from the manufacturer (my equipment was manufactured by Rheem the month before install). Highlights from my experience: 1) Final invoice came in *below* what was a very attractive estimate -- Sean did not upsell anything, he did a walkaround my house and after inspecting / measuring, he laid out my options which were actually *priced lower than I anticipated*. Sean conservatively accounted for labor, and the final invoice came in BELOW the initial estimate. In the current economy, this was a very pleasant surprise! 2) Installation was VERY punctual & smooth. Sean personally planned out the install and supervised his team. I got to hang out with the crew (of 3) as they worked through my install. My install had a few challenges given my new equipment was substantially larger than my old equipment. The crew did a ton of fabrication and heavy lifting, but got everything to fit perfectly. 3) I got BETTER equipment than I paid for. I ordered a SEER 13 AC with my system, which was unfortunately not available from Rheem, Sean lined up a SEER 14 ($450 premium) at no additional expense. 4) After they wrapped up, his crew was very diligent in making sure there were no screws laying around, left the workspace spotless. They walked me through the new equipment, setup for the thermostat and also the warranty signup process (10 year warranty from Rheem). The final invoice is all done on sight via iPad and payment is a breeze.

They always clean up after themselves, call ahead and come ready to do the job. When they first serviced the rental, they noticed the furnace was in the laundry room as many in heartland are. This sucks up the lint into the motor and blower. He told me how I could save money and turn the air intake in the loft into the location of the filter. The part was easy to find and only required about 5 minutes to install on my own. We were able to get 21 years on one of our heat pumps. We believe their preventative program was a key part to its long service. When it came time to replace it, they gave a good estimate on a 15 seer, was able to bump us up to a 16 seer and actually came in below the quoted price. We are sticking with them.
