I'm a fan of the Armored Grilled Cheese stand, which is across from Trader Joe's at DeKalb Market. I've been there a few times now for their "zero dairy" grilled cheese sandwiches, which have two options for oat milk-based cheese (American and pepper jack). Great option for folks like me with lactose intolerance or who are vegan. It's also a real bargain compared to other stuff in the food hall - $3 for a regular grilled cheese and $4 for a kimchi grilled cheese. I'm partial to the kimchi grilled cheese, and I often add on some other toppings, like mushrooms or vegan bacon or vegan pepperoni. Even with those, it's a very affordable sandwich. I haven't tried it, but they also have tomato soup, if you're looking for an accompaniment to your grilled cheese.

Cheap Eats located inside of Dekalb Market Food Hall. Friendly Service. Nothing particularly special about the tomato soup but the grill cheese hit the spot. You can get a regular for $2.99. Keep in mind that bread is smaller than a regular slice of loaf bread but you can add toppings to make it a bit heartier of a sandwich. They even have plant based topping options.

Yummy little grilled cheese sandwiches located right outside the Trader Joe's in the downstairs area of City Point Brooklyn. Came here after doing some grocery shopping for a quick bite. Ordered the Grilled Kimchi Cheese with a Tomato Soup. I enjoyed the grilled cheese I ordered. Hot off the grill though so be sure to let it cool a bit, I nearly burned my mouth! The tomato soup was not my favorite. The sandwiches are small so I think next time I would order at least 2 if I was hungry. Very affordable quick bite!

The only stand in Dekalb Market Hall where you don't have to hand over two arms and a kidney in exchange for a meal. At ~$3 per grilled cheese, the price can't be beat. Do note that the bread is smaller than your typical white bread and that the cheese is vegan, although I didn't find that it tasted too different from regular cheese. Definitely hits the spot if you're craving grilled cheese. Would like to come back to try the kimchi version!

Kind of crazy that this is vegan and the price is unbeatable!!! I didn't even realize it was vegan when I first had it and then realized after someone told me. It's inside a small food court of a mall so it's a perfect thing to grab and then get a beer at the brewery next door!

This is a nice pop up vegan grilled cheese place in the basement of the Fulton Mall with all the eateries. What a great way to save a lot of money when you need a quick bite to relieve your hunger! I was busy shopping and decided I needed some quick small hot snack and went with Armored Grilled Cheese. The Grilled Cheese is priced at $2.99 for either American Style or Pepper Jack! The grilled double cheese is at $3.99! Pretty good deal! The slight problem I had was the vegan cheese, which is made of oat milk. It tasted weird like an acquired taste because it was my first time trying vegan cheese. They also gave grilled kimchi cheese and tomato soup which I will try next time when I go there again.

On Sunday, I was overwhelmed and starving, and this place caught my eye right next to the Downtown Brooklyn Trader Joe's with its cheap prices and interesting menu selections, so I grabbed a sandwich as a quick hunger fix. Honestly, I was really blown away at how surprisingly good my kimchi grilled cheese was! The oatmilk pepper jack was so gooey and flavorful, and really complimented the sweet and mild cooked kimchi. The buns were toasted enough, but still soft. Armored Grilled Cheese is satisfying for a great price point, and I look forward to getting it again when I'm at Dekalb Market Hall.

Eh. First I didn't realize it was non dairy cheese but that it was cheese made out of oats. That's my fault. But the pictures that they show and the product is completely different. I thought it would be at least the size of a regular piece of bread but it's the size of an English muffin. I also got the tomato soup. The cheese itself is decent for not being made out of real cheese however the bread wasn't crunchy and it's pretty anemic looking. It's smaller than my pen. Also, the tomato soup is very obviously tinned. It only cost me six bucks but I would've rather put that money to something tastier.

Most recently, I went in as I saw on their social media they sold unique tins of fish (pictured) from countries like Portugal. I've only tried the sardines but they were awesome on toast. The shop itself is small but carries a good variety of dry goods, and refrigerated items near the back. I've also tried one of their sandwiches and one of their pre prepared pastas which were divine, with the quality of ingredients standing out to me the most. Staff is always friendly as well.
