We got an appointment and had to fly to Denver to take care of this. The agency is in a really nice area heavy on office buildings. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We were able to get his passport same day and enjoyed killing time at the outdoor art museum. Not at all what I was expecting. Very happy with the service and the ability to get this resolved before our trip. Oh and helpful tip. If you're flying in/out of Denver don't make your itinerary too tight. We fly in the night before and had a flight out the next evening. Since the same day passports are picked up at 2 I was glad we didn't schedule it too tight. There's plenty to do in the area while you wait and DEN is only about 30 mins away.

On appointment day I arrived to the building and it was easy to find a parking spot. There was virtually no line and a few minutes wait just to do security. She has hung up on my friend's phone calls, refused to answer emails sent from both of us as well as from the Chicago Consulate and the Comune of Palermo. She has refused to simply send an email saying it's not her responsibility to answer the emails even though It would have taken her less than one minute to respond. It is taking more time and energy to resist sending the email than just responding to it. This makes no sense other than to say this woman is incompetent in this position and should be replaced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Italy. A few minutes ago, she threatened me to file a report on me. I welcome her to do so. Perhaps it will bring attention to her neglect and incompetence as Italian Honorary Consul to Denver. Just for that convenience alone, I am willing to ignore most criteria that would usually guide my reviewing. Mrs. Giovanna was the clerk that assisted us with our paperwork. I needed my passport renewed and she took care of my case. I had briefly spoken to her via email a month before my appointment date, as I had accidentally registered for an appointment that I did not need. So I signed up for a passport renewal slot and emailed her to let her know about my blunder so she could cancel my 'generic appointment' and make it available for another citizen. She emailed me back to thank me, which was nice. The day of I reached the honorary consulate at my appointed time as per instructions. As soon as I stepped off the elevator I saw the door to the office, which had instructions on where to go wait down the hall. I followed instructions and sat in the waiting room. In practiced Italian fashion the waiting crowd begun to put doubts into people's minds by saying that the instructions we had been given regarding documentation needed for the renewal was not sufficient and so forth. In reality the only thing missing from the instructions was that we needed an extra envelope for shipping as Mrs. Giovanna did not take any of our documentation along to Chicago, she just provided us with the help to fill out the documentation needed and then left us in charge of mailing that to the consulate ourselves. Despite technical issues, the subtle belittling by the citizens and the overworking, I think Mrs. Giovanna did a splendid job at helping us. Again, I am so grateful for saving me the trip to Chicago that not much could make me give them a bad review. This is a wonderful service offered to those of us who are AIRE registered. Check their Facebook page to find out when they are in Denver (please be aware that at maximum it's only 2 days a year...but truly they had not been here for 2 this time). If you need a passport renewal or a service they offer make sure you keep abreast of their upcoming schedule and don't miss your chance while available.
