Armenta Learning Center was truly life-changing for my daughter. At four years old, she was struggling in school because of ADHD, and we felt so lost. The team at Armenta welcomed her, understood her, and helped her thrive through structure, sensory activities, and patience. She loved every moment there and still asks to go back! Because of their support, she transitioned successfully into kindergarten and is doing amazing now. The staff's compassion and dedication mean the world to us -- I can't recommend them enough. read more

I adopted a puppy last March and was looking for a dog trainer. My neighbor recommended I contact Julie & Bruce and called them not only "true dog whisperers" but also incredible people who run a learning academy. I was considered "out of area," but they made an exception for me and drove the distance to train my puppy. They were confident that after 4-6 sessions my dog would be good to go. That sounded very promising to me! I've never hired a dog trainer before so it was an incredible learning experience for me. Bruce is a phenomenal instructor. He educated me that communication and hand signals are key, along with repetition and consistency. My dog wouldn't be who she is today if it wasn't for him. Many people become frustrated with their dogs because there is a lack of training. I wish I could give them 10 stars. You truly won't regret hiring them for your fur baby! read more

Armenta Learning Academy - My pup - Private Tutors Near Me - Laguna Niguel, California

I was stressed about selecting a tutor for my son headed into 6th grade. Made a few calls, and heard back from Julie first. Responsiveness is critical when making decisions such as this. The fee was as I expected and manageable. Easy access of 5fwy which was nice! We needed someone that will challenge, but with patience and in a relaxed environment. I'm proud to say my son really enjoyed the time (best you can at the tutor in the summer) and finished 6th grade with straight A's. No more kids to educate, so I thought I would send some encouragement for others seeking a great tutor to rely on. Thanks, Armenta team! read more

I recently joined the staff at ALA. The teachers here will go above and beyond to see our students succeed. I love to see Armenta's individualized and responsive approach to learning. The path we each take to the finish line may vary, but the journey is the priority, not just reaching the finish line. I have spent most of my years teaching young learners, so I believe instilling a joy of learning is critical for future successes. It is great to see students arriving and leaving ALA each day with big smiles. I love their specialized approach to teach the whole child since we all learn and excel in different ways. I like to make learning fun for students, not just a rote process, and that is just what ALA does. As a reading specialist and a 25+year elementary teacher with a masters in reading education, I can definitely say this is a great place to learn. read more

What an amazing learning center for my 7th grade boy with ADHD. This is so far beyond your run of the mill "tutoring" center. Yes, they will work on homework, but they offer so much more in terms of learning, engagement and creativity. My son has been to two other franchised learning centers over the years and this is the only one where is he actually learning and interested and never complains about going. Ms. Armenta and Mr. Smith truly make learning interesting and fun for him. Such a special place! So thrilled to have found it. read more

Armenta Learning Academy is committed to the whole child. They teach value lessons, communication and leadership skills. read more

We came to ALA looking for help, mostly for reading comprehension, and for communication. Mr. Smith helps him with these and so much more. He not only provides learning, but also a natural and relaxed environment where he can develop the skills he needs for social interaction and communication. He has gained new friends here too. ALA gives Mikhos a chance to grow into his full potential. They teach what kids need academically, and they also help develop skills which are not easy to learn. Thank you, ALA! read more

My daughter Charlotte started coming to the Armenta Learning Academy over the summer to help with her speech and language development. Julie and her staff have truly been amazing! She has made so much progress with her teacher Ms. De Silva and enjoys coming here to learn. Although our focus was on speech development, her teacher Ms. De Silva has also been working with her on her writing skills and  fine motor development. I'm so grateful that we found out about the Armenta Learning Academy. It's truly made a difference in my daughter's learning and development. read more

Ms. Armenta has been my mentor, my counselor, and teacher for almost 2 years. My life has been transformed in so many wonderful ways. She is a sweet soul who truly and wholeheartedly cares about her students and people in general. A true delight to work with. I am so grateful for her insight and knowledge, her ability to help me through some of my darkest times. It's nice to know that I always have somebody that I can trust and go to any time needed. She's helped me set goals and thanks to her I continue to achieve my marks one at a time, she shows me that all things are possible and achievable. I believe that NOW, that's far from where I was a few months ago, life only gets better and better. She is a true blessing, I am so thankful to have her in my life. I am a teacher at Armenta Learning Academy with a 20 year credential experience and a MA degree. I speak 5 languages and love to teach languages as well. Working with Armenta Learning Academy is great. The staff are all very attentive and caring, the scheduling is flexible, and the students and families I get to work with are all incredible. There is no doubt in my mind that I made the right decision choosing to work with this company. I really appreciate the "teamwork" attitude/philosophy Armenta Learning Academy communicates. I feel valued and supported based upon the flexibility of being able to set my own hours and work schedule... I have been provided the opportunity to develop positive relationships with students and parents. I would highly recommend Armenta Learning Academy to anyone interested in providing their kids with a very positive, reliable and supportive atmosphere. read more

Upon arriving at Armenta Learning Academy my son was scared and nervous because he has only had negative experiences with school and tutoring. We entered the academy and my son, Lucas, said it looked like a home and it was cozy. I thought Wow, he seems so calm. Ms. Armenta greeted Lucas by his name and asked if she may shake his hand(which is huge because Lucas can get so nervous around people he forgets how to talk and her question redirected him to how to properly greet a person and to give him the option of not shaking her hand, this in my opinion was so kind and respectful). Ms Armenta greeted me second which I loved because it showed me that her main focus was Lucas and his needs. She came off as a kind, warm and a welcoming woman who took us in to her office and treated us a her family not as another student and price tag. She took so much time to listen to Lucas' worries and his goals and his interest and dislikes. She listened to mine as well but ,again, her focus was on Lucas and how she could get him to succeed. This made since to me. Other schools (and I've been to many) focus on me and my goals for Lucas; they rarely considered Lucas and rarely asked him questions. She spent a good solid 45 mins with Lucas, just getting to know him. Then it was time for some tutoring. Lucas was invited to sit where he was most comfortable which was in her office at a round table with no other kids. I told Ms. Armenta that I would be right outside in my car as I expected her to need me because of an issue with Lucas(Which always arose in the past). Not once did I get a call or her running out to tell me she needed help with Lucas. To be honest I got worried, as parents do. I decided to go in when it was close to the end of the session and to my great surprise and absolute joy, Lucas was smiling and siting with another boy at a big table in the main part of the "classroom". He had finished his school and homework(all of it). 1.5 hours of tutor to get his home work completely finished plus 5 extra math pages that wasn't required!!!!! I mean if this isn't proof that Armenta Academy and Ms Armenta know what she is doing and how to motivate a shy, scared and usually uncooperative boy then I don't know how much more proof you need. Historically, Lucas and I would take 2 hours a night to finish 1 page of homework. My question is why cant Ms Armenta and her staff be at every school in the district. Our kids would be thriving and working at their full potential. The children that where at the academy that day were calm, quiet, and seemed to really trust Ms Armenta and the other teacher that was there. I could go on for days about how over joyed and blessed Lucas and I are to have found Ms Armenta and her academy. The Academy is worth looking into for any parent who feels their child isn't getting enough from their current school program. read more

I would rate them 10 stars if I could. ALA has helped my 10 year old daughter in many aspects. She was diagnosed with ADHD and had some learning disabilities and needed help with math, reading , communication skills and she had a hard time staying focused. I signed her up at ALA and it was the best thing I have done for my daughter's life. Mr. Smith has helped her with her math and reading skills,  and with his extensive knowledge, patience and kindness both her math and reading skills have increased tremendously just in the first 2 weeks and continues to grow. They also do fun things with the children arts and crafts and field trips. I would refer any parent or parents who have a child or children,  with any type of learning disabilities to sign them up for this school. Mrs. Armenta is a fabulous teacher,  leader, educator and inspiration who has helped my daughter in many aspects in her education and confidence. You can see that she has the drive and passion to do what she loves to do and make a big difference in these families and children's lives. I have spent so much money on other schools and have not really worked until I got my daughter into the ALA and it worked so well and quickly and efficiently. I am so pleased to see my daughter and other children thrive, learn and be educated in a safe and clean environment. They not only work with special needs children. But gifted and regular education students its a nice combination of small sizes, individualized instruction and getting the best results ever. They were also voted as the best special needs tutor in Orange County, CA. That also says a lot and they have proved it in every move they make with these special children. To all of you parents out there still schooling and home schooling your kids. With our lives being uncertain of the future and our families trying to stay positive there is always hope. If you are in need of help for your kids in school please consider asking for help. There are amazing resources out there. Armenta Learning Academy is but one of the many out there. At ALA you and your family will be gifted with support, love, and most importantly help for your children who are struggling through the new and quickly changes that are taking place in our schools and our world. She is not only gifted and specializes in special needs but tutoring in specific subjects as well. Serving your special needs kids but also those who are struggling in specific subjects...aka your jr. high or high schooler. My kids personally have out grown there school years but I did have 3 who went to public and homeschool. My middle child had severe learning issues. So if you are beating your head on a table and wondering why your kids can't sit still or the stress of how am I going to teach this to my kid? Look no further. I urge you to call ALA. I used ALA for 2 of my kids. The special needs one because it was just painful to sit and work with her. And my youngest who when he was in high school and I was homeschooling him needed help with the math. Ms. Julie heard and saw my pain and tears and we gave it a shot. He worked with Mr. Smith for his math. When I would ask my son how it went. He said Mr. Smith was great at explaining. And he was able to build momentum and get ahead on his work. Both of my kids didn't like going to a "class" but they both said even though they didn't wanna go they are glad they did and it took the stress of pleasing the schools with correct work being done and more family time. It was I more than them that needed to learn patience and what and how they learned. We are told just send your kids to school. But then it gets harder. They don't teach us parents how to ask for help. You have nothing to lose but piece of mind. Ms. Julie gave me the support I needed as a parent and my kids the confidence they needed to succeed read more

Being an educator at Armenta Learning Academy has been such a blessing. I met Mrs. Armenta through Armenta Pet Academy. As we were getting to know each other we instantly connected, and we had the same mission to help children and animals. I love what Mrs. Armenta does at both Armenta Learning Academy and Armenta Pet Academy. Not only is Mrs. Armenta a great boss, but she is also a wonderful educator and role model. Everyone at ALA is so welcoming and supportive of each other and I truly enjoy going to work every day! I love being able to teach a variety of subjects and work with all the different students that come to ALA, both during ALA's morning school and after school tutoring programs. I specialize in ABA, Neurofeedback Therapy, American Sign Language, and working with elementary and special needs students. My BA is in Deaf studies and community service, with a concentration on literacy and I love being able to incorporate my knowledge in those areas here at ALA. I enjoy being creative with my teaching and I love facilitating crafts and activities for the students. I also have the pleasure of overseeing the Armenta Learning Academy Store, which has been such a great way to reward, reinforce, and encourage students to work hard. I am so thrilled to be an educator in such a wonderful learning environment, one that I wish I had access to growing up. I delight in seeing the students having fun and enjoying school! Being an educator at the Armenta Learning Academy has been a joy. The students and staff members are respectful, responsible, organized and accountable. Having been a teacher in different districts for the past few years, I have found it crucial to be interactive with the student's and teacher's in order to keep the schools environment lively. Mrs. Armenta is an incredible educator and boss. I look up to her as a mentor and a friend. She is thoroughly interested and vested in all her staff members and students lives. She greets them with a smile and either a hug, fist pump or whatever the student prefers at the front door. The enrollment process is hands-on and Mrs. Armenta creates attainable, yet challenging goals for individual students. The educators are collaborative and help each other in times of need. The classroom environment is lively, engaging, interactive, enjoyable, and the classroom is organized. There is a trail right across the street from the Armenta Learning Academy where the students can walk on their break if they need one. For safety purposes they are always assisted and taken by a staff member. Several of the students know one another and have become a tribe or a family over the years. Frequently they will ask each other questions about their experiences, weekends, vacations, etc. I am blessed to have found the Armenta Learning Academy and to be on an incredible team teaching such wonderful students. 10 star review! I highly recommend this academy. You will not be disappointed. Great tutoring and school programs year around! read more

I highly recommend this school and their tutors! Bruce is coming to our house 2x/week for Algebra tutoring and my daughter loves math again! She'd been going to the school's math clinic and still failing tests. She's regained her confidence and motivation in algebra after only one session, and can't wait for him to come back! ALA has been a blessing to our family in many aspects far beyond the academic scope that I originally signed my son up fo attend. Mr. Smith & Mrs. Julie Armenta have quickly been able to touch my 13yr old son so deeply that his overall demeanor is more pleasant & positive. Not to mention, my son is also being more accountable for himself and his actions and that far exceeds just academics!! The scope of what my son has already obtained from just the few short months and minimal hours per week is unimaginable. The development of character is a process that includes social-emotional development, maturity, decision making with attention to mental health as well and that is not something that is easy to find but i can assure you that can be found within the doors of ALA! Armenta Learning Academy is a blessing to our family and i'm grateful for all the accomplishments that have already been made. Thank You Armenta for all you've done & will do!! Five Stars to the Armenta Learning Academy and to Mrs. Armenta and Mr. Smith for being dedicated, kind, and caring teachers. I'd been homeschooling my 13 year old, Autistic daughter Megan for 4 years when I found Julie Armenta. I was looking for a tutor who could give her a little extra help in Writing, Math and Science, but what I found was more than I could imagine. Mrs. Armenta immediately took Megan under her wing and created a wonderful learning environment specific to Megan's learning style and interests. Megan's made progress in all areas of learning and has gained more academic independence, mainly because of Julie's kind and thoughtful one-on-one teaching style. In addition, Neurofeedback has been an outstanding computer program that has helped Megan to work on memory, focus and concentration. I also highly recommend the tutors at Armenta! I had my 3 kids there for tutoring this summer. Two of them struggle with ADHD and have not enjoyed school. They spent 3 hours, twice a week at Armenta and both asked if they could go more often. My son calls Mr. Smith "an amazing math teacher". He is passionate about math and really improved my son's Pre-Algebra skills. My son has a new confidence in his abilities and just this week he tested into Honors 7th grade math at his new school. That would not have happened at the start of the summer. My daughter does not enjoy reading but her reading comprehension skills greatly improved over the summer. She is also very anxious about taking tests so Mrs. Armenta worked with her on building her confidence and test taking skills. After hearing about the center from her brother and sister, my youngest also wanted to attend. Although she didn't "need" tutoring, Mrs. Armenta spent the summer working with her on advanced math. She loved the challenge and now says that she really loves math! I wish we had found the center years ago. read more
