I believe we just hit a year, which means my son started just after his 4th birthday to get a jump start on reading before he entered Kindergarten in Aug 2021. He IS reading above his level with the help of the wonderful tutors. After each class, they give me a status report on what he's working on, how he's progressing and what hiccups he might be having so I can work with him at home. One thing I really love is that the tutors have remained consistent over the last year (meaning, my son sees the same tutors week after week). He really looks forward to going each week, going through the easy-to-follow lessons, and earning reward points. Admittedly, my son did start young and the patience I saw in each of the tutors was admirable. Teachers are gold! Though we briefly stopped attending in March due to COVID, when the facility was able to open up again, the safety/sanitary standards they put place to be in compliance was impressive to say the least. I feel 100% safe and confident they will keep my boy safe. Kudos to Jason, Daisy, Tia, and the whole team at the Tutoring Club of Mission Viejo! I can't imagine not using them as my son grows! Next up? Math!

The classrooms are beautiful, welcoming, and thoughtfully set up with wonderful spaces for the children to learn, play, explore, and grow. Most importantly, our girls always felt safe, loved, and happy there. It is very difficult to say goodbye after three years because Trabuco Presbyterian Preschool became such an important part of our girls' childhood. Being so new, it's squeaky clean, and you can tell that the Director clearly put a lot of thought into the layout, furniture, playground, and technology. Our son was READING books to us the summer after he finished at TPC, knows how to add and subtract, and writes quite well.  He has such an advantage going into elementary school!  Plus, he is filled with confidence and silliness.  TPC is absolutely perfect in every way, and now that we've moved on, we deeply miss it.

She always takes very close attention to detail regarding whether she needs more comfortable shoes, a change in diet, extra attention on days she may be teething, and always greets her in the morning when my daughter sometimes has separation anxiety. Ms. Abeer is always very communicative too and makes sure to tell me any of my daughter's needs for the following days or week. Ms. Lucy is also super sweet with all the children and you can tell has so much fun with them! We are very happy with this school and the leadership [Ms. Shipra and Ms. Gabby]. We have been with Kumon of Foothill Ranch for over four years now. Since our kids go to an elementary school with a no homework policy, we also wanted to build the daily practice of doing homework in preparation for the transition when they will eventually have school homework (because I've heard from parents how much of a struggle that is). We started because our oldest had an affinity for learning and he really wanted to read. We knew that it was time to put him in Kumon, because I used to work with hundreds of students of all age ranges and what I would see is a lack of a strong foundation in their math and reading. We knew that Kumon's structured learning curriculum and individualized lesson planning would ensure that our kids would have a strong foundation with no holes. We were right. Our oldest learned all his sounds, built phonemic awareness, and was reading books by the time he turned five years old. Now he's in 2nd grade and working three years above his grade level in math. He has gained strong mental math ability through his daily practice with Kumon, and it amazes us how quickly he can work with large numbers and process multiple steps in his head. Our youngest is completely different from his sibling. It takes him a lot longer to learn a new concept. Thankfully the Kumon program is designed for kids like him too who need more repetition and the lesson plans are individualized to his learning ability. He continues to progress forward while making sure there are no gaps in his learning. Nikita has been a great partner in ensuring both of our kids are working at their own individualized pace.
