She clearly explained Utah's concealed carry laws and spent a lot of time on the responsibilities that come with carrying, including situational awareness and the many factors involved in using deadly force. She also shared practical guidance on concealment considerations, training opportunities, and resources for continuing education. She welcomed questions throughout, and the class never felt rushed. The staff was also excellent, and they made the application process incredibly easy. They handled fingerprints and photos on-site, so it truly felt like a one-stop shop. Marvin made my husband and me aware of concealed carry laws, constitutional issues, and the real responsibilities that come with being armed as civilians. As retired military, we quickly realized that being armed in the military is very different from being armed as a civilian. This class taught us that there are three fights: the gun fight, the legal fight, and the mental fight. The best armed person is prepared through education and practice. We both left knowing this was not a one-and-done class--it's the start of a new lifestyle requiring continued training and responsibility. 5 stars - instructor Jay Viola for class at Fredericksburg. He was well prepared and knowledgeable. He engaged with the 42 students throughout the training, providing helpful and necessary information. The time went quickly and was glad it wasn't just a PowerPoint presentation that we could read through email. I came away with safety, legal and situational information and feel confident in pursuing my CC permit. I will probably never CC but everyone around me does so wanted to be comfortable with safety and law should I be involved in situation. read more

ASDI provides a compact and complete opportunity to get a Utah CCW, the advantage of which is the reciprocity accorded the Utah permit. The training class was comprehensive and to the point. Having had a CCW for many years, it is always good to review firearm safety and the laws of self defense given the consequences of the use of deadly force.
