I had my hair and makeup done for a formal event earlier today. The curls in my hair were very loose. The stylist said she would touch them up after my makeup. I told my make up stylist that I wanted my make up to look natural. I even brought in some of my own make up and eyelashes. She used all kinds of different products on me. When she was finished I looked orange and blotchy, and my eyelashes were crooked. I told the stylist but she seemed frustrated and uninterested in fixing it. When I checked out, I asked the girl behind the counter if my eyelashes looked OK. And she said "no, not really". Then she ran my card. The stylist that did my hair disappeared. I went to my car and looked in the mirror. I peeled off my eyelashes, and removed as much makeup as I could with baby wipes. Half of my curls had fallen out so I called a different salon. They took me right in and fixed my hair. I did my own make-up. My overall experience was awful and very stressful. I booked this appointment so I could feel confident and beautiful for a black tie event. Instead I felt stressed and panicked and far from beautiful. I will not be back and I would never recommend their services to anyone. read more

The Kingsbury Club is what I would call a full service gym that is geared toward families. There is the usual gym equipment (treadmills, weight machines, elliptical), but there is a day spa, a pub, child care center, heated pool, and tennis courts. The heated pool is a little chilly (despite it being heated) and does stay open year round (they put up a pressurized bubble in the winter). The pub is convenient if you want to grab some food and drink after your workout. Most of the food is average but they have a decent selection of beers. The childcare center is great but not included with your membership so there is an extra fee. There are lots of classes but many are during the day. Not so convenient for those of us that work. For me, this place is convenient as it is just a few miles from home and my commute takes me by there every day. THis leaves no excuse for me not to work out. I do not take advantage of many of the extras they offer since I have no desire to hang around once my workout is done. But for those families with a stay at home parent or for those people that like hanging out in their spandex, then this is as good a place to spend some time. read more

I belonged for 2 years from 2007-2009, and it was an okay gym but lacked "the little things", such as shampoo/conditioner/soap in the showers (I hate having to lug my own), and forget about q-tips or cotton balls. The hair dryers are scarce, and are a low-wattage budget version. There is a dry sauna, but it seldom got hotter than 70 degrees when I was there, if it worked at all. No steam sauna. No swimsuit dryer. Locker room is usually freezing. And if I remember correctly, they charged an extra $10/month for TOWELS (on top of a ridiculously pricey $80/month for membership!!!!). I had just moved from NYC in 2007 (and was a longtime member of Equinox) so I was spoiled I guess. Also not included is use of the tennis court. Pool use IS included! Amazing that isn't another a la carte item, ha ha ha. As other reviews have noted, the equipment is rickety and outdated, and the cardio equipment didn't have individual TVs, so you were forced to watch the giant flatscreens. However, if you try to ask for MTV, some of the conservative gym employees won't allow it b/c it's indecent! Ha ha. There are a lot of families walking around in the gym. Which brings me to my next point about the 2 locker rooms, one of which is a "family" locker room. if you dare bring any child over the age of 1 into the "adult" locker room, you may draw the ire of crazy locker room ladies who'll remind you about the "family" room's existence. The child care facility is similarly low-budget (you may sense a theme here!!), but it's not expensive, either (about $2-3/hr per child). The kids who staff the room are sweet. They do their best to reign in temper tantrums and inconsolable tots. Classes are also just ok . . . there are 2 rooms, and they are tiny (yoga on carpet? ew!). They get super crowded, especially on the weekends. Basically, if this gym were like $20/month, it'd be worth it. One good thing is that the staff is nice. Is it mean that I wish it gets bought out by en Equinox or even a BSC one day? read more

Armand is my go-to in the Kingston area for all massage, nail and waxing needs. I definitely got a little spoiled living in Boston/Cambridge for 10+ years and having many great salons and spas to choose from - and Armand definitely measures up. It's peaceful, spotlessly clean and very nicely appointed. The staff is so super friendly and accommodating. I've been coming here for a couple years now and always feel super warmly welcomed when I arrive. Shout-outs to Laurie for wrangling my tricky eyebrows amazingly, Julie and Stephanie for their fabulous nail skills, and Bethany for her outstanding massage talent! I haven't been here in a couple years because I was so turned off by the customer service, so maybe things have changed a bit since then. However, here is my experience. I purchased a discounted package that include a massage, facial, manicure and haircut. They were all shorter than a regular service would be and significantly cheaper -- I'm guessing the idea is to get you in the door to sample their services with the hopes that you'll become a regular customer. Definitely didn't pan out in this case! First, let me say that all the girls who actually provided the services were friendly and did a great job. The negative aspects of my visits relate directly back to the woman working at the counter and the salon manager. They were so RUDE and snobby and unaccommodating. I realize I had paid discount prices and therefore they weren't making as much off of me as a regular customer, but if the idea is to win new customers, you'd think they would be friendly and sweet. Unfortunately, I was so turned off by their bad attitudes every time I went, I used up my package and will probably never go back. read more

I signed my 8 year old son up for private swimming lessons for an hour. Dealing with Aquatics manager Amy was awesome. I decided I would make an appointment in the Spa Armand at the same time. My legs have never looked so good!!!! Smooth and no bumps!!! If you want The perfect hair removal see Sonia!!!!!!! Sonia did wonders for my hair removal and now I'm wearing a bathing suit with no worries!!!!!! My son learned So much from Anne in his hour long private lesson!!!! read more

Im a member because there are so few options, but really..its time to update this place. The mens locker room, and especially showers, are disgusting. They haven't bought new towels in probable 10 years. The restaurant is closed on Sundays! Really! Close it on Tuesday and Wednesday and have football/games available for members to watch after a good workout. Please update the facilities. Its no wonder you have to lower your prices and have membership drives now. read more

I had a really bad experience today at the salon. I am visiting from out of town and had called to see if the salon would do a gel-manicure fill. The person I talked to said "Oh yes, we do" so I made an appointment. The technician spent 35 minutes with me trying to handle my nails before saying that she did not know how to do a gel fill. By this time, they were going send me on my way to try to find someplace else to do what they said they could. Since I am from out of town, I had no idea where to go. Meanwhile, my hands and nails are a mess (the technician had also damaged my cuticles with the harsh file she had used) and they said "They don't look so bad"!!! The only good thing out of this experience came when they made a call to find a place that could actually do what I needed to have done. read more

I called and was able to get a last minute massage appointment after my appointment at a different location had been cancelled. I had a major knot in my shoulder that i was dying to get out and was very happy they were able to accomodate me in such short notice. I saw Lacey, and she was extremely nice and she did an amazing job. She listened to my problems, even let me use my own oil since I have sensitive skin, and gave me a fantastic massage with just the right pressure. I would deffinately recommend going here. read more

I had my first visit to the salon today with Leslie. I cut about 10 inches off and it looks great! Her scalp massage during the shampoo felt great and for once my neck didn't bother me resting in the sink. She took her time with the cut and had a great personality. My expectations are clearly too high. I booked a shellac manicure with (I believe her name was) Julie. I had purchased a Groupon a couple of years ago for my mom for a massage, but it had since expired. I was pleased to know that despite the promotional value having expired, I was still able to put the $40 I spent toward another service--so I chose to get a French shellac manicure. My impression when I walked into the salon was that it is an upscale place, yet I was discouraged to find that during my appointment, my service was anything but. I typically go Serena's Nails in Pembroke. Price-wise they are $10 cheaper than Armands and the service is above and beyond your traditional nail salon. My appointment lasted a total of 30 short minutes (I'm used to 60 at Serena's). No cuticle soak, no real hangnail cleanup, no real attention to detail. There was no hand massage, no hot towels. I questioned the nail tech whether I mistakenly booked the express version of this service. She replied that no, I hadn't, and that they only book 30 minutes for gel manis. My manicure was not entirely horrible, but it wasn't out of this world either. When I left, I looked at my hands and there was gel stuck to the undersides of my nails--she hadn't done any cleanup whatsoever. It is now only Monday, and the tops of my nails are already chipping and there a chunk that's chipped off of my left pinky finger (I got this manicure Saturday afternoon). How could anyone justify spending $35 dollars ($40 for French) on a manicure at this place? I was really disappointed because when you think of a "high-end" sports club salon, you expect high-end service. Not the case here. I would never come back and I would not recommend Armand for nails. read more

Let me start out by saying, this would have been 5 stars if it weren't for one person. I went in today for a bridal hair and make-up trial. I had my hair done with Angela and she was wonderful. I was very happy, until the front desk manager came in. I was totally thinking I would be booking with Armand until she walked over to me. I left stressed and angry, Let us begin with the fact that Yay! I'm getting married. I have talked to venues, florists, caterers, and other vendors, none of whom pressured me into booking with them. This woman, however, Jen Webby, was the pushiest, rudest woman I have ever dealt with. I wasn't even done with my hair trial and she's telling me she is going to go ahead and book me and my bridesmaid (who I had brought along for opinions) and asking me all different questions about how they're wearing their hair, their names, etc and we haven't even picked out dresses yet! Ok, fine, whatever, but she KEPT SAYING, "You need to book now, we fill up fast, I'm going to book you now." No. I haven't even gotten to my make up trial yet, I had never been to this salon, NO. So onwards to the "relaxation" room. I'm chatting with my friend and in walks Jen again. And Jen is oh so sorry that I hadn't spoken with her when I booked, because I didn't tell her that my wedding was on a Friday and my makeup trial was with a woman who only works on Saturdays. So I should come back a MONTH beforehand to do my trial and should just book now. When I declined, saying I wanted to have a make up trial first before I book, her response was, "Well I tell my brides that they should come in a month before, so they normally come in a month before, but if that's what YOU want, then fine." Are you kidding me? Now, I had loved Angela and the way my hair looked, so I booked the makeup trial, but then she wants to talk about the day of the wedding again. So again I repeat, I do not want to book until I have had the trial. We set up a date, I tell her see you in a week, and her response was, "No, it's two weeks, the 11th not the 4th. Do we need to go over it again?". No Jen, we do not, because I will be cancelling my makeup trial and never stepping foot in your salon again. So in the end, I left the salon angry and stressed, but at least I had beautiful hair for the rest of the day. read more

This club is a real disappointment. I was previously a member, but honestly it is not worth the exorbitant monthly membership fee. They are very lucky to be the only health club in the duxbury/kingston area because I believe thats the only reason they are still in business. The staff is neither nice nor accomadating and I feel that is a simple thing to ask of such a pricey health club! The only thing I have been impressed with is that a few of the classes are really good. If you are looking for just a gym to go to when it's convenient, stay away from this place. read more

I went to the Armand Salon for a typical mens haircut. Let me say I HAVE NEVER HAD A WORSE HAIRCUT IN MY LIFE. The woman obviously had no clue what she was doing. She shaved the side of my head and abruptly stopped at the top where she was supposed to blend it, but that never happened. The woman actually shaved off my cow lick, which was beyond absurd. I took pictures of my hair and sent it to the manager saying that it was pretty absurd that someone could do this and be employed by anyone, even supercuts. She told me that the woman was her newest hair stylist, but assured me that they run a business that would not let anyone cut someone's hair who has not had the proper training. THAT IS OBVIOUSLY WRONG. BEWARE. She actually spoke to me on the phone and said "Joe, you know the business I run, I would never let someone who hasn't had the proper training go on the floor". The manager was rude and obviously has no clue how to run a business. After a week or so of wearing a hat, I decided I had to get it fixed. I went to Aveda spa and the woman was honest with me in saying that she has never seen something like it before. My hair was so incredibly uneven that it was almost a joke to her. MY COWLICK WAS COMPLETLY SHAVED OFF. The woman at Aveda was shocked. IF YOU DONT WANT TO GET YOUR HAIR BOTCHED BEYOND BELIEF, DO NOT GO TO ARMAND SALON. read more
