The bike fit also included in-depth pedaling instruction and Ed picked up some bad habits I had and helped me learn what it feels like to have my center of mass in the right place. I came in experiencing shoulder pain during long rides and after the fit session that's almost completely gone away from the combination of adjustments and instruction. Their website is very easy to search for what you want in advance. You can also get all the things you need to put your new bike in use from racks, bags, baskets, bells, gear, and safety supplies. It was fast and easy to select high quality items and they attached it all so my bike was done and ready to take home that day. Another huge advantage over the first time I bought a perfect bike- bike lanes! You can try your new bike in a safe bike lane before cutting back to the store on a side street then a less well traveled road. Bike Boom is the first one where I said I had a problem with my bottom bracket, they wrote it down, checked if there was a problem, and actually replaced my bottom bracket. I've been to several other places where I've said, "there's a clicking on my bottom bracket when I put weight on it, please check it"--and they don't even bother. Incredible! Drop-off, communication of work plan, and pick-up were all efficient and easy. It took me four years to find since moving back to Boston, but this is my new place.

"Democrats hate America, Trump is our savior!" On and on, a stew of QAnon lunacy that had no place anywhere, let alone a darts shop. Poorly written, barely coherent, and more desperate than persuasive. In that moment, the choice became clear. We left. Not just because of the lack of service, but because no business that alienates half the country with tinfoil-hat propaganda deserves our time or money. If you're looking for darts, try anywhere else. If you're looking for a glimpse into paranoia and poor customer service, you've found your spot. Used to frequent this store years ago. Then went with Hubway/Blue Bikes for a decade. Now have my…read moreown bike again. Needed a new chain, old one felt worn and loose, measurement confirmed it was. Now, I have a Shimano internally geared drivetrain. It looks they choose to install a (1/2 x) 1/8th KMC chain. This is something one can question - the situation seems to be this: multi (derailleur) gear drivetrains, like 6, 7 or 8 speed drivetrains use a 3/32th chain - single speed bikes often use a beefier 1/8th drivetrain with thicker sprockets/chainwheels. Now, Shimano uses 3/32th sprockets for their internally geared hubs. Now, one could pair a 1/8th chainwheel designed for single speed or one of those stylish BMX chainwheels to pair it, that are thicker 1/8th. If one does that, one wants to use a 1/8th chain. However, my bike, like most that was designed for internally geared Shimano hubs, uses a regular 3/32th wide chainwheel that would be compatible with derailleur geared setups as well - Shimano designed it that way, probably to make logistics simple, makes sense to me - go Shimano. Now, why it was decided to install a 1/8th chain - no idea. Reading up says one can install a 1/8th chain on a 3/32th sprocket/chainwheel setup. One can expect a little more wear over the long run on chainwheel and sprocket as it doesn't fit as well in width, maybe also slightly more "noise" (not a problem - if there is, nothing I'd notice) etc.. Ok, so maybe not optimal and I'd expect a store like this to put a "proper" chain on it - it's not that difficult, is it? I suspect money might be a reason, the KMC 1/8th chain is inexpensive, goes for 5.99 on the KMC website, whereas 3/32th chain seem a bit more expensive, maybe because they are longer as they usually come for derailleur setups. I paid the same price ($25 for chain plus approx $20 for installing it) though as a derailleur bike would have been. All of this - may that be as it is, wouldn't necessarily have been a big deal. BUT there was a problem - they didn't use the right "magic"/"missing" link to join/close the chain. I had constant trouble, the chain dropped frequently, originally maybe once a month/3-weeks. I went back to the store and reported - this didn't happen before. They blamed "maybe" the control wire or housing needed replacement causing this. I asked how would that possible have an such an effect? blahblah... 7 month later the chain broke - and it was not the chain itself, it was the missing link - and it broke as in the rivetted axle part broke out of the side piece - it was not that the link came apart at the removable/undone-able side, the link was destroyed. I went back to the store to buy another link as I figured the chain itself seems ok - if I just replace the link I should be good. So I went in and the associated said they don't carry missing links for KMC 1/8th chains. I stated but I had this done here. He responded yes, they sometimes use KMC 1/8th chain, but they don't carry the KMC (or any generic) 1/8th "missing link" joining thing. So I had to buzz off without accomplishing my goal - but I wondered - how is this possible/ They install a chain on my bike that they say they don't have the proper joining thingee for. So I walked to the next bike store (Bike Boom). I went in and asked for a KMC 1/8th missing link - and they had it. Looked completely different from the one that was on my chain. The pin length was different as well - when you take a half of the magic link I had and the double pin portion of the "missing link" and hold them together. I went back into the store and asked - are you sure this is right - this looks completely different from what I had. i had the chain in my bike basked outside the store. The associate came out with me, looked at what I had and said - you have a multi-speed (derailleur) 3/32th link on your chain - that is not the right one. The one I gave you is the right one! Turns out he was right. I installed the chain with the new link he had given me - and all the problems I had before seem to have disappeared. No chain drops anymore. No funny noises/"klonck"s. No (extreme) sensitivity of chain tension apparently related to chain drops anymore - now apparently trouble free operation. This also explains why the link failed and the way it failed and the answer of the attended of not having such a link. So they use the chain and then use a different link for different chain types that kind of initially kind of fits as in it seems to join the chain together, but then causes a lot of operational trouble and prematurely fails. The combined time I wasted with dealing with these failures like chain drops over this 7 month period is probably a day's worth - including the time I went back to the store and reported that something doesn't seem right; I now frequently have problems I didn't have before. To get a bullshit answer and would have incurred additional cost for "bogus" follow ups if I had gone for it.

We rented 2 e-bikes for $200, and had a nice day riding around the north shore. At the time we picked them up, Steve mentioned that he owed us the discount. We dropped them off at the end of the day and everything seemed good. Unfortunately it was never applied I've heard zilch from Steve since then. I've emailed multiple times about it and gotten no response. At this point it's been a month. Presumably since we've paid he just doesn't care? In the end, we had been willing to pay full price the first time around, but it's really disappointing to get a bait-and-switch like this.

I was told to come back tomorrow. I tried calling the next day, but nobody answered the phone so I showed up they didn't remember me. I told him I had purchased a scooter yesterday with my coworker, and then they went to look for it and they said it still wasn't ready and they needed to charge it . I came back the following day called again. No answer showed up didn't know who I was again reminded him an went to get my scooter ready for me to take one problem, though there was no charger with the brand new scooter. He could not find it. So he gave me a charger from behind the counter fast forward to today, May 5, 2026. I tried calling again no answer so I drove in. Doors were locked. Lights are on went to the front and back entrance. No sign of anyone one last check I see the guy who sold me the scooter in the window. I motion to him to come over. He comes over. he lets me in. I tell him about my scooter, he tells me to bring it in. I told him the back brake is no longer working, and my rear tire was making a grinding noise. He told me I could leave it to fill out my information before leaving. I asked him when he thought somebody would be able to take a look at it and he told me about a month. He stated the technician wasn't in today and that they had a backlog of scooters that needed to be repaired, which he pointed to in the corner and then told me there was multiple down in the basement of the same model. I told him that wasn't an option for me to wait over a month and that the scooter is still under warranty for another five months he tried to refer me to a scooter shop in Cambridge, which I live nowhere near and not paying for something that was under warranty. I then asked him what to do and he told me to call Segway the scooter company. And then again referred me to the scooter shop in Cambridge, which I had to reiterate that was not an option and I am not paying for something that is still under warranty. I asked him for Segway's number which he told me he did not have and to "Google it". My only dealings with this place twice have not been good and not the best customer service to say the least. Scooters were $1100 with tax and are under warranty for another five months and they are telling me I have to wait over a month to even get it looked at. Unacceptable!

An avid runner until I was 50, two hip surgeries necessitated that I change my routine to walking and pool running. For close to 29 years, this worked for me. Approaching 80 has brought about new challenges. Recently I had to go to the foot doctor who took X-rays and told me that I have severe arthritis in my left foot. This explained much about some of the difficulties I have been having with my walking regimen. He explained that more than ever I need to be very careful with my walking shoes and explained the type of support my aging feet would need to get me another 10 years of walking the river. When I went into Marathon Sports, I felt truly welcomed and was lucky to have Nina as my sales person. She is just one of the kindest most patient sales people was ever my good fortune to meet.
