there are not enough words that i can say about master engine rebuilding. i have a 2000 ford excursion 6.8l v-10 gas and i had it in the shop at brake masters 55th ave and w. bell road a couple of times for misfiring and after they charged me $1800 dollars for work that wasn't needed they never addressed the main issue, they finally said that i needed a whole new engine in the tune of $6000 or more. thats when i found master engine rebuilding and talked with the owner who assured me that he could repair my vehicle and give a three year unlimited mileage warranty. so i had my vehicle towed to master engine rebuilding and the pulled the motor and took it apart and found the number #8 intake valve was bad. so i had them just rebuild the entire motor and since they had it apart i had them install a new water pump. at no time let me say this again at no time did they try to upsell me on anything. the prce the owner of master engine rebuilding gtave me before i brought my vehicle in was the price that i paid. there were no hidden fees or price changes once they had my vehicle. this shop master engine rebuilding is a very very honest repair shop with integerity and old fashion morales. in todays world it is hard to find auto repair shop or any business with ethics, integrity, morales and customer service. master engine rebuilding is one of these rare breeds. as a business owner of a small hvac company myself i believe in the same values. i will not take any of my vehicles to any other place except for master engine rebuilding. i drive my excursion everywhere and from the time they rebuilt it to now i haven't had any problems with it. my excursion runs just as if it just came off the ford assembly line. master engine rebuilding has top line auto technicians that know there job. they do not have parts changers as we see in alot of our industry today. i honestly beleave that god has led me to master engines rebuilding. master engine rebuilders lives up to the scripture below that i have posted on here. proverbs 10:9 whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but he who makes his ways crooked will be found out. stewart sullivan air1services@gmail.com read more

Where do I start this place is horrible I had my 2000 ford f150 motor rebuilt by them 7 hundred miles and the belt started getting thrown off couldn't figure it to find balancer that they change after having 200 and something thousand miles they old one which was falling apart, causing the belt to slip off not only that was getting ready to come flying off change spark plugs and they were loose on the driver side truck only has 32,000 miles oil change done when it's needed oil pressure light started falling now I have a ticking cover it's only 32,000 miles of voter was almost 9 rebuilt was not worth of crooks. read more

I would absolutely NOT recommend this place. Not sure what's worse, the lack of integrity or lack of competence. They've got both! Before I go in detail I want to add that they will make up a BS charge and then tell you they will waive it if you give them a 5 star review. This is a violation of FTC laws by the way and I will be asking my attorney to submit a complaint for this as well as this is just one more example of their unethical business practices The owner, John, told me via email it would cost $2,600 to R&R an engine plus fluids. They charged $2,730 + fluids, probably hoping I wouldn't say anything. And they were right. Initially I didn't say anything. Until them stealing a few extra dollars here and a few extra dollars there became a pattern. They replaced the engine three times (which they're claiming is due to the engine manufacturer sending 3 defective engines, but given their tech cant even use the right gaskset and the fact that they think the dummy guage is the correct way to read oil pressure, it seems obvious they cant do much right). Anyways, so far we have an extra charge of $130 per engine × 3 engines = extra charge of $390. On the first engine replacement instead of it being $2,600, Dave used a great sales line of "YOU HAVE A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF FREE LABOR WHILE THE ENGINE IS OUT". Sounds great, right? I trusted him and told him i would trust them to use their judgement and replace any worn parts they would need replacing soon anyways. Instead of the bill being $2,600 + fluids it was $5,500. That would have been fine except literally many of the parts they had replaced were parts I had just replaced at a different shop less than two weeks prior. But wait, it gets better. While replacing one of the engines they used a gasket that was too thin. When a gasket is too thin it doesn't seal properly. Looks like they overtightened it to the point it cracked. I only found this out when I took it to a trusted mechanic who sent me detailed pictures Did they apologize and own up to the mistake ? No! Even better, they wanted to charge me $1,200 to fix what they broke. After confronting them Dave agreed to refund what I paid. (Guess what, they didn't). To this point I had paid them $5,500 and had an outstanding invoices of $7,500 in addition to that. Dave called me and said that truck had been ready for two weeks and i need to come pick it up or they'd charge $45 a day(funny because their sign says $35 a day so they really just try to milk every dollar out of you) I reached out to the owner and asked to adjust this down closer to $5,000 given the $1,200 manifold issue plus the over charge for each engine. A very reasonable request one would assume. To me it appeared John must have had a difficult time understanding the details or a poor memory as his response didnt make much sense(or maybe he's just dishonest) and he refused to adjust the fradulent charges. To avoid any $45 or $35 fees because they "don't have the real estate to keep the truck" I picked it up today and paid the full balance under protest/dispute. To make matters worse, after 3 engine replacements there is still a ticking sound despite them saying the truck was running perfect now. Check back for an update in a few months after my attorney has had a chance to do his thing - this scam of a shop has a lot of experience with lawsuits for obvious reasons, maybe they'll eventually learn to stop scamming people RESPONSE TO OWNER: Lack of basic logic and honesty is apparent I'm every statement you made. FACT: Dave told me he would waive an $80 inspection fee fee if I gave you a 5 star review FACT: Your shop used the dummy guage in my f150 to measure oil pressure ....lmao FACT: Your shop used a gasket that was too small and cracked my manifold... then tried to charge me for it FACT: Your invoice was generated and signed to show a higher amount AFTER we had agreed on a lower amount.. good thing I have it in writing. I only signed your invoice UNDER PROTEST to avoid your shops charges of holding the truck FACT: I paid your shop just under $13k and your incompetent and dishonest techs still haven't fixed the problem FACT: Many of your 5 stat reviews are paid for which is a violation of FTC regulations FACT: 2/3 times I'm in your shop there is a very upset customer complaining about how you scammed them FACT: You're blaming changing your prices to "having a price adjustment"? Why was this never communicated until I went to pay and pick up the truck? I've waited 2 years to write this because I didn't want to attack them. I just want to state the facts. The good news is that my 223 six on my 64F100 runs okay, but I only put 2000 miles on it in two years. The estimate of $6300 turned into almost $9000. Oil leaked after the rebuild so I had to take it back. Valve noise was very loud, but they said it's just an old engine. I told them I started driving Fords in 1964 and the engines were all quiet. They put in a new clutch & throwout bearing, but not a new pilot bearing. After 1200 miles I had to pay a trans shop $900 to put in a $50 pilot bearing that AZ Engines could have easily replaced. I had vacuum leaks on hoses to my brake booster and replaced the hoses and clamps. They wired my coil backwards and it burned up. My truck is red and I asked them to paint the engine red. They painted it purple and said they couldn't find a match. Really? Who can't find a match for red? I worked with Dave and he was a very nice guy, but every time I came back with an issue it was my problem or the truck's problem. That's one reason I stopped going back to them about issues. I had to simply move on. Of course, every time Dave called me about a new development, it was my problem and the contracted estimate changed. They Worked on it Got it running Reasonable well said it was fine. Took it on a trip moving Stuff for a Friend From California to Pennsylvania. Engine Lost Power on a hill, kicked back in over-revved and Blew up. Had to Rent a Truck to Complete the Move. Had it Towed back, They Rebuild it again for a Reduced amount, not Free as I had it loaded up and put 5,000 miles on it. Got it back Same Problem. Went to a Specialist they Recommended. They Fixed a couple of issues, Replaced the Computer. Still Misfiring under Load. Shop says nothing wrong with Fuel, Vaccuum or any electronic Issues. Wish I did my homework and read more reviews. Everything bad said in the reviews happened. Had an engine replace on my car. Was quoted one price then it nearly doubled once they got into it. Picked up my car mid July in 115+ degree heat with no A/C and they just tried to say it wasn't working when I brought it in which I knew it was, then charged me to fix it. Car didn't pass emissions after work was done which was suppose to be guaranteed and when I called to inquire was told about their $8k emisions tester but yet clearly they didn't use it. Finally just took it to a dealership to find out it also has an oil leak which I did notice as soon as I brought it home. Sign in their office waiting room says "we make it right" couldn't be further from the truth. I gave 2 stars because overall the work was not bad and they were responsive. Just got my Trailblazer back in January 21. So far my car car is running awesome. Dave stayed in touch with me while I was waiting, which I appreciated a lot. I had driven my car for a couple of weeks or so after I knew I had an issue and there's no doubt in my mind that driving the car made things worse, which ended up costing me some extra parts and work. John's mechanics spotted some serious issues not related to the engine, such as some worn parts in the 4-wheel drive system and quite a few other items which drove the cost up, but which I know needed to be replaced, as I had had intermittent issues with the 4WD not engaging. I know my car really well and every up charge Dave recommended made sense and I'm glad they were so thorough and was really glad a couple weeks ago when I had 2 1/2 feet of snow on my driveway. This is the weirdest thing. My cruise control was getting less and less reliable, sort of working when it wanted to. I can't explain it but I'm giving these guys credit for most likely fixing some connection that was loose during the engine replacement, as the cruise has been working normally ever since I got the car back. Also, I spent $900 about 2 years ago fixing the air duct system, which was only blowing out the front vents. I had been getting concerned about some leaking through the front vents when it was set on floor and for whatever reason the vents are working normally again. The bathrooms and waiting rooms are clean and bright, the girl at the front desk is sweet as pie and I regret not remembering her name. All in all I am beyond satisfied, and I must say I'm not easily satisfied and not bashful about expressing my dissatisfaction. Rebuilding a motor is a bit like building a house in that changes come up, sometimes with unexpected costs. Bottom line here is don't take your engine issues anywhere else. Great company with great people. Had to get a new engine for my daughter's car. Tried to work through every dealer in Phoenix and none of them knew what they were talking about. Ultimately determined the manufacturer (Hyundai) no longer makes a long block for a relatively new (2018) model. Got a recommendation from another satisfied customer and contacted Arizona Engine Rebuilding. Worked with Dave who was incredibly knowledgeable and a great person to work with (we toured his facility and he knew every engine they were working on in the shop and what was being done to each) He found us an excellent used motor at a very good price. Turned the car around faster than most of the dealers in town could return a call. Car runs great and they have been very helpful every step of the way. Opened my eyes to the affordability and options of replacing and enhancing engines on older but still good cars and trucks. Looking to use them to build a stroker engine for my 1992 Cherokee and possibly new engines for my service fleet which will be substantially less expensive and easier to get done than buying new trucks. I chose master engine rebuilding because they had the best price I could find, a couple 5-star reviews and the owner seemed knowledgeable and pleasant to deal with. Halfway during my experiences with master engine rebuilding I found that they had 2 listings on yelp and the other listing did not have rave reviews. Turns out one of the reviews is exactly like mine - promised a bill of goods and ended up finding out I was taking advantage of. The initial engine rebuilding didn't take long at all just a couple days. This was in November before Thanksgiving. I was surprised at how quickly it was done and excited to get my work truck back on the road. About 10 miles away from shop the check engine light came on and the truck started sputtering. I drove it to an AutoZone and had the code pulled up and it was potentially an external or internal engine problem. I took care of the external possibilities and the truck was still acting funny so I brought it back. They had my truck for a couple days and then told me everything was fine so I picked it up and on my way home it did the exact same thing. This time I asked the owner to have his tow truck company come pick it up because I didn't have the time and I was losing my patience. He had the truck for about a week again and told me that he fixed the problem. I was busy with work so I had to send my dad to go get the truck and he called me to let me know it's doing the exact same thing again. This time I took the truck to an actual mechanic and he put it on his Snap on diagnostic scanner that he had and showed me not only the code that was the same as before but how the cylinders were firing and the fact that there was something wrong inside the engine. So I brought it back to master entering building one more time. This time they had it for a week and a half and the owner said he drove it around for 500 miles and it was driving perfectly. As soon as I left their shop it started acting up again but this time the check engine light didn't turn on. I decided at this point that they are incapable of getting this job done correctly. I've lost several weeks of not having the truck for work as well as vehicle rental expenses. I checked with friends and ended up finding a mechanic in Tempe that not only has an excellent 5-star review but a couple referrals from friends so I took the truck there. Turns out the problem was internal and half of the block had to be taken apart. A lot of parts that were listed in master engine rebuilding's list of replaced parts were not done. The check engine light was broken so potentially that might've been damaged intentionally. It is a bulb that is inside the instrument cluster that no one ever touches so be your own judge on that. This little endeavor cost me over $2000 to have the engine fixed properly and $1000 in rental fees for having to rent a vehicle while mine was down. BEWARE of this company. My husband had his 2007 Miata towed into their shop late 2015. Master Engines claimed that for $2500 they could repair the engine & have it running like new. It is now late April 2016. Through out the months that went by - they would call us to tell us it was running perfect and to pick it up. On 3 separate occasions we went to pick it up. EACH time it broke down within 5 miles and had to be towed BACK TO THE SHOP. This month they said it was perfectly running. We didn't want to pick it up & asked them to DRIVE it to us. They had it towed to our house (that says everything right there) The car does not run at all. Not to mention they returned with the shift stick not properly screwed in. We are not dealing with this anymore & are going to small claims court. To anyone looking to use this company... PLEASE look elsewhere ! We wish we did !!!!! read more

Find another shop. It's pound foolish to use this place because of price. In the long run, you'll spend less at a more reputable shop. The problems continue into 2019. After two years, they can't keep blaming previous owners, bad contracts, work that was 'more than they expected', or fired staff... Eventually, you have to consider the leadership. (FYI - business is also called Master Engine Rebuilding) Out of necessity, we had them work on two vehicles. Communication was horrendous, bordering on belligerent disregard. They took MONTHS to do the work, and had to redo it due to both lies and ineptitude. At a certain point, I stopped pointing issues out when I checked on things--I just wanted them to finish so I could take the vehicles back and do the rest myself. Thank God we can! Weeks later, we're STILL fixing mistakes they made on one vehicle. On the second, we got it home the other day and already found parts left parts off, and leaks everywhere. It's a Chevy 350, for God's sake -- the most known engine around! I Don't Care about their Warranty -- trust is gone. I don't want them to touch my vehicles ever again. Maybe they'll get better, but they have a VERY long way to go. I even experienced confirmation, watching another customer get pissed off over shoddy workmanship and horrible communication. The owner certainly spends time crafting responses to any and every bad review on the Internet. He'd do better to spend his time taking things to heart and quietly making the improvements FAST, before a successful lawsuit drowns him in failure. read more

They didnt time the camshaft properly on the passenger side cylinder head so I had to take it apart and redo it. Back in my shop for an upper oilpan leak that they also screwed up. Master Engine is a great company new to the Phoenix area. I have a 2003 Dodge Ram with over 252,000 miles on it. The engine was tired and started to burn quite a bit of oil and would put out a puff of white smoke upon accelerating from a stop. I found Master Engine after contacting 8 other engine shops. Akram at Master Engine is a great guy and knew exactly what the issue was. He recommended rebuilding the engine and gave me a price to complete the job. The price was the best out of all the shops I had gotten quotes from. Akram then proceeded to tell me they have a 3 YEAR UNLIMITED mile warranty. I thought this was too good to be true but decided to have them rebuild my engine. I dropped my truck off on Saturday morning and picked it up the following Friday morning. The truck ran great until I hit about 200 miles and then it began to have oil pressure issues. I called Akram and he told me to bring it in. Akram had his mechanics inspect the engine and told me they would have to keep it to inspect it further. As it turns out, the new oil pump that had been installed was defective. Akram and Master Engine replaced the oil pump and the crankshaft with no issues. I have put about 1000 miles on my truck since getting it back and it runs great! Master Engine is a great company that stands by their work. I recommended Master Engine to a friend who took his 2005 GMC Yukon there to have the engine rebuilt without any issues. I highly recommend Master Engine, they have the best prices, the best warranty and they are honest and stand by their work! read more

Dissatisfied - had engine rebuilt, 6 months later piston they installed completely disintegrated causeing major damage to engine block. Took it back for warranty and was denied as they claim it was my fault it happened. Had to tow vehicle back home after they took it apart, threw all parts in vehicle without protecting inside and was told they would just park the vehicle outside and would not be responsible if it got towed. They based their conclusion upon opinion and not factual evidence. Pretty much lost $3500 and a vehicle without an engine. I would NOT recommend Arizona Engine Rebuild to anyone as customer service is lacking especially under their warranty department. read more

My 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 4X4 (with 180,000 trouble free miles) decided to suddenly have engine seizures followed by complete failure. I brought it to a local repair shop I had been using and they recommended a new engine / rebuild at the tune of about $3500. I decided to check around and quickly discovered that most shops wanted between $3000 - $3800 to get the vehicle back on the road. Some offered a two year limited warranty, some offered none. I knew I was going to get it fixed as the truck is in excellent shape and has served me well, so it was much cheaper to fix it then go and try to find another reliable one. Well, I happened upon Master Engine Rebuilding, called and spoke with Akram (a really great guy) and was told that the vehicle could be up and running in as quick as a week, with a 3 yr. unlimited miles warranty, for around $1500 - $2000 depending on damage. So, I took them up on the free towing and the next day I went down to do the paperwork. I was surprised to learn that they had already removed the engine, a 4.7 EFI V8, and determined the cause of the problem (3 steel valve seats dropped into the cylinders). I was brought back to the shop area where the tech showed me the damaged parts, how it was caused and what needed to be done. I was impressed with the overall condition of the shop, how clean and neat everything appeared to be, and how the tech stations were set up and organized. There was no mess, clutter or junk. I had a good feeling about this place. So exactly one week later I get a call, the vehicle is fixed, and for $2000, my truck is now running like it was brand new. It's hard to imagine that the odometer is at 180K because this baby is running better than it ever did. I would high recommend Master Engine Rebuilding to anyone contemplating needing any major engine overhaul. This engine rebuilder is a catastrophic place to rebuild engine.My friends car engine defected after two weeks and no more driven the car.The warranty is for three years but not real,they don't keep the promise.My friend is filed a case in court and we will see the result.I advise people not to use this place for any engine repair ,incompetent workers,no warranty as what they said.this happened in 2018,,, please don't lose money with this company.. read more

I took a 2000 Chevy S10 in for an engine rebuild. I was quoted $2,395.00. after they worked on it they called and told me one of the heads was not reusable and would have to be replaced, the cost went up to $3,585.50, but the part was only $450. This went way over bid and the parts were marked up way to much. 6 spark plugs for $90, a water pump for $180 and the thermostat for $60, really. Be careful getting a bid you may get stuck like I did with paying way more. I should have looked at their reviews first, but trusted a mechanic who recommended them. Won't do that again. read more

Master Engine Rebuilders in Phoenix, AZ. This shop has been a nightmare for me. Their advertisement page in New Times says $1,495. For the repair or replacement of my engine with a 3 year guarantee that they have no intentions of honoring. I have payed $2,200 for my engine to be rebuilt, received a receipt that says Payed In Full and they still want more money from me. They have had my vehicle for almost a month now and when I call to check the status, I've been cussed at, yelled at and blamed for not having the money for additional repairs. They are very unprofessional and should Not be in business, I'm not the only dissatisfied customer, it seems they have many and also have issues with the BBB but ignore. In my opinion, they should not be in business or learn how to conduct business here in America. For anyone that has gotten good service from this shop, I would be amazed. No Stars from me but a big !
