Love this plant store! Located on busy NE MLK Jr Blvd, it looks much like a warehouse from the outside. But if you walk through those doors, you'll arrive in a plant oasis! They've got all your various types and sizes of houseplants. From cacti to succulents, monsteras to hoyas, ferns, philodendrons, pothos, and many more that I'm sure I've never even heard of. They've got 2" starter pots all the way up to 8' tall adult plants that you'd need a truck to haul. It's a wonderful store to just walk around and breathe in. Queer, Latinx, and vegan owned business - per their website. Staff was friendly when I wandered in with no intent to buy. They welcome everyone to admire the plants and ask questions. This place is a VIBE. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by a lush green oasis that instantly calms your soul. Every corner is carefully curated with the most gorgeous plants and decor you can't help but want to fill your space with. The selection here is next level; there's something for everyone from beginner-friendly plants to the more experienced plants. I nearly screamed when I saw a Monstera esqueleto! The staff are also so knowledgeable and passionate about what they do, and it really shows. They're more than happy to answer any questions, offer care tips, or just chat about your favorite plant babies. Like almost everyone else since 03/2020, I've brought too many plants and until 2024, majority of them have been either online or in person. Local nurseries, local garden stores, Etsy vendors, hirts, canopy (never again), etc etc. But with one too many bad experiences buying online, I vowed to stick with in person purchases. I decided to take a flyer with Arium because 1) their instagram shows me they hella care about plants and 2) they actually have a green thumb and 3) I stumbled across a plant that priced similar to what I would have paid for with an overseas vendor (who, btw, with the exception of pricy shipping and the need to TLC back into pot medium, is excellent) but in a pot!! The packaging was not the best I've seen but it did its job. What's amazing is the quality of the plant. Thank you so much and this might be the only online vendor (besides the overseas one) I'll shop from because of the quality of the plant. read more

If anyone has started collecting plants for fun, hobby, boredom or just need some greenery, this is the place for you. They have many plants, some very cute and common and some uncommon, cool and expensive. When you walk in, your realize it's a small space but well curated. They have so many plants I've been drooling over. They all look healthy and beautiful. I just could not decide and had to go back the wrong way a couple times. They even have a section that is basically pay what you think you can, make an offer. Made my picks and when I paid, I asked the person ringing me up about my plants. He gave me such good advice and really very nice. No snobbery, no oh you don't know vibes, just someone who wants you and your plant to succeed. Moth was super helpful in recommending a solution to a plant I had that wasn't thriving. I got knowledge and options to help me decide how to repot it and get it well again. We staked the existing plant on a moss pole and added a new pothos to fill it out. Annnnd I got clippings from my original plant to take home to try to propagate. Arium had plants I didn't even know I wanted. The prices were great, the selections were great; You can get 2" starter plants, all the way up to MASSIVE plants. My sister is recently into houseplants and the staff was able to assist with any questions she had as a new plant mom. Even better- they had premixed aroid soil in two different sizes. Magical! Walking into the large bright room with so many happy and thriving plants evokes a sense of peace and calm. There are large plants that would become a centerpiece for a room, tiny 2" pots of succulents, and everything in between. Take your time, walk around the spacious store and you will see some very unique and hard to find species. In addition to the varied plants, I love their installations, the way they display the plants. Especially the plants that are growing in a moss ball and hanging from the ceiling. When you see this wall of hanging plants it feels like you have stepped into the future! I'm trying to figure out how to incorporate one or three into my space! Problem is watering them; you soak the moss ball then hang it to drip dry. Not good for my hardwoods! In addition to plants, they have some unique vessels, many a piece of art in their own right. A bit on the pricey side, but again, these are not the planters you would get at Freddie's. Staff here is super knowledgeable and they all clearly love plants. They answer questions thoroughly wanting to make sure you understand the plants needs (light, nutrition) so it will thrive in your space. This place is always getting new plants. I shop here to often! The pots are a little pricy, but so beautiful. Most plants are reasonably priced. My advice: If you see a plant here you like, buy it cuz who knows if they will have it next time! They seem to go through plants fast, and the pots! One more thing! I feel a lot of ways about Arium but I'll keep it simple - they have great social media but the store generally doesn't live up to the hype. I always leave empty handed because the things I see online aren't actually in the store or just don't look as good as portrayed. I understand people buy the good stuff quickly so it's also a timing thing on my part but I work a full time job and I'm not able to come in on the weekends when they release the good stuff. I could order some of the cool plants online (not everything is on the website) but then what's the point of being a local shopper? A question to the Arium boys: why do you have to make it so hard to get the plants? - I know you think you're making it easy. And lastly calling your store a Conservatory is a bit of a stretch. I've been visiting Arium since the guys first opened in their tiny incubator space up the street. It has been a joy to watch their business grow along with the plants I have purchased from them. My first plant, a hoya obovata, just had its first bloom this past fall! Their newer larger space on MLK is gorgeous. Bright natural light, and a jungle of plants to choose from, in all different types and sizes. The pottery and planting supplies are a bit more limited but they are well curated and enough to get by in a pinch. I am sure there will be many more plant adoptions from Arium in my future. read more

Beyond the variety offered, it was nice to see varying sizes too--tiny or big, depending on your needs. Arium botanicals has such a great variety of plants and different prices! There really is a plant and price for every person. The space is lovely and magical feeling and I can tell that all the plants that live there love it too. The only thing that makes me feel bad buying a plant is that their space there has much better conditions than mine! Lol I love that Arium Botanicals obviously cares about their customers. What's more rare is you can tell they care about their staff too! All the staff are excellently trained. I went in over the weekend and was greeted by two staff members and then assisted by another that was super knowledgeable and kind. When staff is this good, you can tell that the owner takes pride in hiring & keeping good people which typically means that working conditions are good for staff. One of my favorite local nurseries. It warms my heart immediately whenever I get to stop by this little shop. All the workers here are so incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. (Tylor, Sarah, Tony, Kai, Kia, just to name a few! I don't know everyone by name yet but I've interacted with these amazing people on my frequent visits.) I'm so glad they finally reopened their door this week. I work close by so I used to always come in weekly pre-pandemic, their shop is always stocked with some beautiful pots (many from local artists) and plants that are so unique and one of a kind. So many of my favorites in my collection came from this very location, and the Arium staff have been so giving in more ways than one. They're always so kind and insightful whenever I need any planty advice, or even when I'd just want some plant therapy after work. I feel so grateful to have such a gem of a shop with staff that have a heart of gold. Thank you for being the bright light our plant community needs during this dark time. After driving by countless times, i finally got to stop into Arium. They have a nice selection of interesting and uncommon plants. Being from SoCal I appreciated the diversity of their cactus offerings. Overall, I am noticing houseplant prices are much higher here in the PNW, but some prices here were shocking for the size and quality of basic plants. Lastly, but most importantly, I felt invisible there. Not one person working there acknowledged me. Including one worker who practically stepped in front of me to rearrange a shelf. At one point 3 workers behind the counter were all looking at their phones. I guess I am just an old curmudgeon no one wanted to say hi to...In any event, a simple smile (even if it is fake - I've worked in customer service for many, many years, I get it) goes a long way. On a good note, I did get a cute speckled begonia that, fingers crossed, I can keep alive. read more

Portland has its fair share of amazing plant shops and Arium is 100000% worth the stop. Check this place out for unconventional houseplants, knowledgeable (but not overbearing) staff, and a little more elbow room than the PDX plant shops you might be used to. I didn't pick anything up because I'm not local and plants don't tend to like airplanes, but if I were a local I would be here all the time! Other good stuff about Arium? There's a parking lot right out front (although there was plenty of parking in the neighborhood as well). The plants are labeled really well if you'd like to quickly Google the light needs. They've got some very cool pots and planters if you want your new plant baby to be extra stylish. Came here after lunch on rainy Valentine's Day. There was a HUGE line for free bouquets that I did not partake in. In did try the free hot cocoa. The place it self has a good selection of indoor plants and pots that are trendy. They had other stock that local plant placed dough by have! I LOVED the 2inch pot selections! I wanted to get a cute pot but I found them a bit overpriced compared to other local plant shops. read more

I had heard of this place online, but had never visited before. I drove past it today, and decided to stop in. I'm so glad I did. Everyone who works there is super nice, their plants all look happy and healthy, and they have a good number of plants I haven't seen at other plant shops in the Portland metro. If you are looking for something, stop in. The prices are a bit more than some of the other botanicals and nurseries in the area for some of the more generic plants, but their large stock of fun plants totally makes up for it. They are the 4th shop that I've bought my plants online from. I got a Scindapsus Pictus Exotica, Hoya Crimson Princess, and String of Hearts. They packaged the plants very well and the soil was moist. They used peat moss, packing tape, paper to keep the soil and plants in place. I just wanted to update my review :) I was still pretty happy with my first purchase from Arjun Botanicals that I ordered another plant from them about a few weeks later. This time I ordered a 4" philodendron micans and I was highkey excited to see my new plant. Shipping was just as speedy as last time. My plant arrived safely in its packaging without much damage to the box unlike last time (HOORAY), but that's not all! I honestly didn't expect much from the 4" micans. I knew it would be a beautiful plant but I didn't expect it to be trailing yet since it was in such a small pot. Turns out, I was in for a surprise because the plant that Arium Botanicals gave me was so incredibly full and luscious AND IT WAS ALREADY SO BEAUTIFULLY TRAILING. For about $20 it was such a great deal! I legit just stared at it for a few minutes afterwards. It's probably one of the most beautiful plants I have in my collection now and definitely my favorite trailing plant. The quality of Arium Botanical's plants and of their customer service is just so nice that even though I live in California, I would for sure stop by this plant shop on my future road trip to Oregon. *excuse the bad quality photo. I never took a good first pic when I took it out of the box so this badly Instagram-filtered one was all I had. Obsessed. I was having a moment with pests on some existing plants and randomly stopped in. The staff were so helpful and nice, offering advice, tips, and suggestions. I bought a big pot while I was there and some custom soil mix. Since repotting with their chunky mix, my variegated plants are thriving and pushing out new growth. Love this oasis! They are welcoming & have a great selection of beautiful plants so what's not to love. All of the plants I've bought there have been beautiful & healthy, and the prices are fair. (I've seen some ridiculous prices around town for commonly found plants. Which is sad-the joy of growing a plant collection should not be $ exclusive.) I also appreciate the ceramics section where I bought a piece by a favorite local maker. I like that there are often multiple pot/plant size options for some of the plants, so I can buy a smaller version of what would be spendy for me in the larger version. They're all so friendly & kind. I'll never forget getting a little good by wave (from the owner?) as I drove off after making my first visit. What a cute plant nursery! Very healthy green friends and very decent prices. They also have a good selection of unique plants like the jewel orchid. It's a good thing I don't live in Oregon otherwise my wallet would be completely empty! I ended up buying a gorgeously lush and leafy Swiss Cheese vine and a Panther Diffenbachia. The latter was out of the "pay what you want" section which had plants that weren't 100% perfect upon arrival at the nursery. Crossing fingers it grows well! read more

I have been to Arium more times than I care to admit and everytime has been a great experience. You can count of finding tons of collector/uncommon plants at reasonable prices. The staff is helpful and friendly without being overbearing which I really appreciate, I never feel rushed here. Lovely store...is way bigger than it appears from the outside. Lovely plants...they look like they're quality. I was just in for a browse to kill time while I waited for the bus on a chilly day. They had some ceramic plant holders (really pretty but kinda pricey) and cool moss-growing hanging plants, too. There was some sort of coffee setup inside -- I couldn't tell if they were selling coffee or had someone sampling. Will be back when my partner decides to get a plant child. read more

It looks very unassuming from the outside, but inside is full of a houseplant lover's wildest fantasies.
