My cousin introduced me to this super cute shop with nicely curated gifts made by local artisans that complement the owner's hand poured organic candles. Love the smell of "Cinnamon Chai" and "Botanica". I do have a Chai bias and while burning the candle it sublimely makes me want to drink more chai or at least that's what I tell myself. The owner is super sweet and really knowledgeable about the products in her store and some of the stories that go with them. I love supporting small and look forward to visiting soon when I'm back up in Oregon.

Grand opening

This is a wonderful store offering the best candles I've ever used. I first found these candles when they were being sold during a street market. The owner told us of the new store they were opening and after burning the candle in my office, I just had to support them when it opened. Tucked inside a little mall across from Powells, I am sure we will be visiting each time we go to Powells.

Cute plants and planters

Such a cute shop with amazing gifts and plants. The candles are so good! They're the only ones I burn anymore. Lots of other great stuff from local artists too. Definitely worth a stop!

Surprisingly, many locals are unaware of them, which is both a great thing (for loyalists) and shocking (given how incredible the products are). I recently stopped back in Maak Lab to update some of my scents, and I was so thankful that the Dafodyl is still in stock. There is something for everyone here, and you're bound to learn more about what scents work for you. I remember my first experience here in 2021 when I realized I am a "green" scent guy. This has been very helpful in my journey to collect more scents to wear, especially when traveling. You should also have this support! Maak curates dozens of products for notable brands and businesses in Portland. When you stop by here, I guarantee you'll be impressed by the connection to some of your favorite establishments. You can even purchase soaps, scents, candles, and many other products that brands you love to create with Maak. I still enjoy knowing that the Knot Springs soap I love is something I can purchase for home. Support local, and keep returning to the excellent Maak Lab team.

I went with two of my gfs and we had a wonderful time smelling SO many smells, learning about the history of fragrance, and making our own scents! I was pleasantly surprised at how challenging it was to nail the scent I was going for (strawberry pastry lol) and I would absolutely go back again to make something new. If you're considering it, def do it!

This weekend the Portland Bazaar returned for its 9th year and as one would expect, it was crowded! But totally manageable. The space is bright and airy with lots of natural light. The variety of vendors and merchandise is impressive making it easy to find unique and meaningful gifts or something for yourself! There were several jewelry artists with unique and creative styles that I haven't seen elsewhere. I love jewelry and prefer to wear pieces that are individual and not mass produced. That's exactly what was showcased here. There were a few pottery vendors and my favorite, Pigeon Toe Ceramics, had a stunning display of serene, classic mid-century modern pieces. There was the normal coffee mugs and bowls, but what really stood out were the unique gravy pitchers, tiny creamers and soap trays. The colors were soft muted pastels and so soothing to the eye. I wanted everything on the table! Of course there were lots of alcoholic offerings and accompaniments: tea infused spirits by Townshend's Distillery; Portland Spirits was there with their amazing syrups, a much better alternative to soda and mixers (highly recommend the spicy ginger for killer Moscow Mules); pear infused vodka from Wild Roots, to name a few. And then there was Wild CBD, always the most crowded booth in this day of all things CBD. Les Tablettes de Chocolate had inventive bars loaded with fruits, nuts, herbs and spices in my favorite, dark chocolate. Their toffee was incredible. The presentation is beautiful and the taste superb. Baked goods were also available from several small batch bakers. One of the craftsman, Hew, had the most beautiful handcrafted bowls, containers, plates and utensils made from wood. So natural, simple - but hard to make - and incredibly gorgeous. They even had an area set up where kids could make hand painted ornaments, inspiring future crafters! Perusing the wares, marveling at the craftsmanship, selecting the perfect gifts and scoring spicy ginger syrup was a perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Definitely make a point to come next year! They always post on Facebook when they have a show. The merchandise is special and high quality.

I had not picked up a souvenir from my time in Portland, but had planned on doing some shopping later in the day once everything opened up. I live in and I am from Nashville and we love all things Dolly, so I made a note to come back by that afternoon before heading back to my hotel nearby. When I popped back by, I immediately walked over to the row of custom T-shirt designs on the back wall next to the counter. The employee who was working was really nice said hi to me and I noticed the Taylor Swift shirt they had on was also really cool. I was an easy sell for that one. I spent probably 30 minutes in the store looking at everything they had and trying to get an answer from my wife back home on which shirt she would like to have. There were a lot of other really unique items in the store as well. I bought some cool pins and a very lovely smelling perfume along with two shirts. This is an excellent store to bring back something unique from Portland and the service was very good.
