The owner and her sweet and playful dove Paloma

This place is magical. that's not an exaggeration. Instant great energy - beautiful. A "dove" that lands on your head, the most beautiful little pieces of joy throughout the store and the owner is just lovely. my 10 year old was transfixed after making a terrarium with his dad there and made me promise we would visit often. I got to overhear the most wonderful teachings about the perfumes you can mix for yourself there -while we picked out plants and precious stones for our terrarium. Just such a special place.

The only reason I'm eating 4 instead of 5 stars is because street parking is sparse and plant choices were limited. Cute (but limited) selection of plants and accessories to make terrariums. Fun/Friendly staff who will instruct and assist individuals or groups (we had a group of 12) with how to make a terrarium. SO MANY GREAT CHOICES of sand (5 colors), shells, pebbles, petrified wood, moss, dried flowers, glitter dust (beautiful when mixed in with the sand). Unexpected bonus is their pet dove who cooks non-stop (soothing). Excited to come back to make another terrarium!

    Build your own terrarium

My partner and I came here for our anniversary to build a terrarium. The owner is a wonderful person and was super friendly from the get go. The energy in the store is peaceful and welcoming. They (the owner) helped us to gather materials and gave us instructions to create our terrarium, while also letting us take charge and create what we wanted. There is a curated assortment of plants, crystals, shells, stones, sand, etc to add to your terrariums or buy yourself. The quality is wonderful, especially their crystal assortment. All in all, I'd say the experience was very well priced. This shop also offers kokedama making and perfume crafting, which i'll be trying next time I'm around! I would absolutely recommend coming here.

I bought a voucher for two on Groupon for this place to build your own terrarium. It was the first time for my husband and I. I made an appointment for 11 am cause the evening class was booked. Nice little shop. Assortment of materials to choose from. Our instructor was friendly, helpful and informative. We were given a book that had instructions and she guided us through the steps. It was fun and I highly recommend this place for the workshops and they have great gift ideas too.

My new favorite place I first stumbled upon this little gem when my boyfriends mom planned a girls day here, we did the perfume making workshop and it was so much fun. The staff was super friendly. They also have a dove in the store named Paloma hanging out in the shop. I loved it so much I ended up booking a terrarium workshop for my best friend and I to do and that was also a hit!!! We had a blast the two gals helping were so nice and helpful! I'm def a fan and will be returning! Thank you so much for offering great experiences!

Cute little place with a large selection of plants, succulents, airplants, cacti, etc. We came recently after buying a Groupon for a self guided terrarium building experience . So awesome ! We had a blast, it was relaxing, a fun way to get your creative juices flowing and learn a bit about their plant types and terrarium types . We ended with two pretty good sized terrariums now displayed in our home. The only thing is this place is pretty highly priced, without the Groupon it would def be more then I'd want to spend for things . Especially a la carte items . Oh, and there's a dove in here! Lol Caught us by surprise as it was flying around hanging out . Great little spot overall !

One of the coolest things I've done in a while. The shop is super cute and peaceful, I love that Paloma the dove roams free. The selection of crystals is both impressive and well marked. The workers were full of knowledge and very helpful, made us feel super welcome. We made terrariums at the DIY bar, there were 4 types of sand to choose from, and multiple different plants, stones, glitter and much more to add in. The music was a nice touch, great little escape for an hour or so! Would highly recommend!

This by far is the best terrarium shop in Portland. Amy (owner) took the time to answer all my questions. She has so much passion for all things nature and very knowledgeable of the types of plants. Fancy meeting the owner who published the book "Terarrium Craft" which gave me the inspiration to start making terrariums. My husband and I had a wonderful time at this cute little shop. Thank you Amy for sharing your expertise and we will be back to take a Kokedama class!

One of the best plant stores in Portland! My bf and I took a terrarium class here and had so much fun! Amy and her fellow coworker (can not remember her name) were so kind and helpful. A huge selection of plants and other cute things, at a very good price, too!! I wouldn't go anywhere else in Portland for plants!!

This is the cutest terrarium spot ever!!! Came here during my annual Portland visit and made two terrariums to bring back to norcal. Both made it back safely....flew with them as my carry on. They have everything that you'd need to make a terrarium...glass bowls, succulents, lots and lots of color sands, shells, crystals, wood, animal accessories....everything!!!! They even have pre made ones around for inspirations. A medium sized terrarium cost me 35 bucks and the small one was about 20 dollars. It's what you'd spend at a regular store but knowing that you personally made it and it's uniquely yours made it so much more satisfying!!! There is no sales tax in Portland so paying that much doesn't feel too bad. Love this place and would recommend it for everyome. The guy working that day was super helpful too...great service!.

Went to the terrarium happy hour and my friend and I had a blast. We will definitely be coming back.

Amy ? & staff are amazing. This lil shop is literally a breathe of fresh air, a real energy shifter! The creativity reels you in just through the window displays. Modern subtlety next to antique allure with handfuls of gems and flotsam and jetsam, held together with mystic scents and gold filigree, bits of the past and hopes for tomorrow. You really must check it out for yourself!

Wow. My favorite plant store in Portland. It feels like a respite from the busy world outside. It's quiet and calm. Theres even this bird in there? Pretty wild it flies around and landed on my head! I got a very cool little fern that the girl there potted up for me complimentarily and told me everything I need to know to take care of it. Def check it out if you're in the neighborhood.

What a great little but mighty plant nursery in S.E. Portland Oregon…read more I used to live in this neighborhood and it has many hidden gems. Birds and Bees Nursery is one of them. I'm a member of Carnivorous Plants Society of Oregon and one of my things is finding places that sell Carnivorous Plants outside of the big box stores. Sure the big Home store has plenty of Venus Flytraps every year but it's a cruel thing to see a plant abused by employees who don't know how to care for such a plant. First of all this plant has 2. basic needs. 1. All the direct sunlight it can get. At least 12 hours a day. 2. Distilled Water or Rain water. To see this plant living inside the store on a shelf dries out is a difficult thing to see. If it is watered, Tap Water us what it's given. Tap water is a for sure slow death to a Venus Flytrap Plant. So in my search, I found a little nursery in the burbs. Next to a Taco Smell restaurant, full of all sorts of plants from vines to carnivorous plants. In my interest, they had Sundews, Picture Plants and a ton of Venus Flytraps all sitting in the full sun. I found what I thought was a good specimen and when I picked up and looked at the Venus Flytrap I wanted, I realized it was actually 3 small and one slightly larger Venus Flytrap plants in the same pot for (I'm pretty sure in right. I was so excited to find such an awesome plant that I kinda forgot and the receipt wasn't helpful.) $15.00. They're usually about $10.00 for a common Venus Flytrap plant. I basically bought 4 plants for $3.75 a piece. With such great prices, my wife found a couple plants she couldn't leave without. We both left Birds and Bees happy. Update on our plants. They're all thriving in their new home.

I'm sure it's nice inside, but I wouldn't know, as there is no access for wheelchair usersread more
