This is a beautiful nursery with so many outbuildings that I'm sure they have whatever your garden needs. We checked out the perennials, the annuals, the succulents, the fruits and veggies. The checkout desks were surrounded by great gifts like soaps and lotions, as well as greeting cards and trinkets. The pricing on the fruits and vegetables we bought was as expected. The staff was helpful and friendly. The best surprise was finding a chicken coop behind the café. We stopped in for a tea after shopping and it was adorable. They were about to close so we'll have to come back for brunch sometime soon. I've read it's tasty here. This was a beautiful shopping experience. read more

What a beautiful farm. I love walking around looking at all the plants and there's definitely a higher level of quality here than your basic plant store. From the air plants to the orchids, everything seems just a little healthier, bigger or more beautiful in some way! This is where I go, if I need something very special. I also love shopping in the gift area, I find really unique stocking stuffers and fun gifts. I think this place is getting downvoted because of the café. A donut definitely shouldn't be $4.50 .... So yes, the café infrastructure needs some work, but the café is only one small part of this property. To me the entire Cornell Farm operation is still five stars. read more

Beautiful garden shop and cafe. I always can find great roses and flowers, and with an added dose of inspiration to go along with it too. The prices are a bit more expensive than what you can find elsewhere, but I enjoy browsing and getting ideas, it is worth it in my mind. It can get really busy on a nice day, so be prepared. the parking situation is not ideal. Despite some of the challenges, love this spot. read more

We were very impressed with Cornell Farm with the selection of Christmas Trees and as important, the service and assistance provided by the staff. My wife and I have moved to the Hillsboro area recently, and after making a list of possible lots and farms for us to purchase two trees for our house, we decided to go to Cornell Farm. A few of the reviews regarding the service gave me some concern, but we didn't see any of it. Quite the opposite. We were immediately greeted and the person helped us select two different trees. The cost may be a bit higher than some of the others I looked at online, but we will go back next year. The trees were fresh, the selection was great, and the service was phenomenal. read more

The next day I call again, there's no answer. So I send another text. Still waiting on a response. I think 5 days is plenty of time for a business to check their VM / texts. I even called right after they opened and they didn't pick up. If you're going to direct people to send you a text you need to actually check your texts. I'm sure the business will say "sorry, we've been really busy!" -- that's no excuse to not respond to a text message. read more

This review is mostly for the Plant Swap event. For years I've wanted to attend Cornell Farm's plant swap, and I finally made it this year! It's held in the tent right behind the cafe, and it was already bustling when I arrived at 4:05. I placed my plants on an empty table, and quickly surveyed all of the swappable plants on the other ones. There were many cuttings and potted plants, and I quickly grabbed a few that caught my eye. After putting a few of my plants on the free table, I went for a walk around the nursery to give them some time to find their new home. The weather was cold and rainy, but the green scenery and fresh air made me feel relaxed and refreshed. Also, the nursery was always nice and neat, so it was always a treat to wonder around, discover new plants and check out the chickens. When I returned to the plant swap tent, I was delighted to see that people grabbed all my succulents. It felt good to know they went to good homes and encouraged me to nurse more little ones for the next swap. Overall, it was such a fun event as swappers were delighted with an array of plants and engaging with questions and comments. The staff was there to answer questions as well, they even brought a hen into the swap, and that was fun. read more

Elevated Bakery and kind of French farm to table comfort food and brunch. They charge the menu every so often and it's been great every time we've been here. First- excellent coffee and cappuccino. Both perfect. The biscuits and taso gravy was so good. Only minor critique is it needs to be a little better. The omelet was ham cheese and asparagus. Was really good too. (Fyi- The hashbrowns were great in my leftover gravy.) The cinnamon roll was hot right out of the oven, gooey and sticky. Amazing. The used a lighter sweet frosting, not a thicker cream cheese frosting. Regardless, it was excellent. The chocolate chip cookies are the bomb, as are the cheddar chive biscuits. Surprisingly large garden center for the location. From the road you can't really tell how sprawling it is. They have a variety of seeds, plants, garden tools, decor, lawn ornaments, some patio furniture, a variety of garden & botanical related books, gift items, and a little kids gift area. We were actually there to have brunch at their cafe located on-site, and we wandered the nursery grounds while waiting for a table. I don't have experience with gardening in the PNW, so I can't speak to their prices (although some of the lawn furniture seemed outrageously priced, many other items seemed very reasonable to me). We were in awe at the huge variety of flowers and shrubs, and all the decor/gift items. read more

This review is for the nursery. There is also a cafe/restaurant on the property that I have reviewed separately. The nursery has been here forever. The cafe is relatively new. I'd guess at least half the shrubs and trees on my place came from here. They have a good variety and an on-site Arborist who is an expert and is very generous with his time and knowledge. I much prefer to bring my business to a local, family owned biz rather than some big box chain so Cornell Farm is my go-to when I need something new to plant.... which isn't very often anymore since I've lived in the same joint for close to 40 years. A lot of what fit in the trunk of my car decades ago is way huge and happy these days. Prices are decent although you could probably do slightly better at HD or one of the other box stores. There's also a gazillion nurseries in WaCo, some quite large but this one is close to home for me and always seems to have what I need to why travel? West Burnside was probably the boondocks pre-war but it's a traffic nightmare these days. They do have some parking on-site but the lot does fill up. There is overflow parking, albeit probably not welcome by the property managers in the apartment complex next door. No street parking either on Burnside or the adjacent streets. read more

Such a beautiful place to peruse for indoor, and outdoor plants. Social distancing is in place with markers, and staff to guide you. All staff are wearing masks, and hand sanitizers are easily within reach. Plexiglass screens also separate the cashier from customers when you pay. They have an abundance of trees, shrubs, annuals, and perennials. They're locally owned and purchasing from them improves the local economy, so that's a win right there. Their prices are also comparable to other nurseries in the area. Give them a visit, you won't be disappointed. read more

Love this place. It's such an impressive nursery, it's often one of the spots I like to take out of towners even. They have super friendly staff, who tries their best to help even if they don't have the answers. I actually love the organization and layout of the various sections of the nursery. It's highly intuitive where everything is in their vast selection of plants, trees, soil, etc. It's a bit on the pricey side, but I find it a bit cheaper than some of the other in city nurseries, and it's worth the short drive. Also, they keep their plants super healthy and I know they try not to sell plants that show disease or infested with aphids...so worth the extra cost imo. read more

Very sweet nursery in the suburbs. It's large and has lots of plants that look healthy and well maintained. The prices are slightly higher than some other nurseries but if you're looking to buy from family owned business, this is it. It is also a nice place I would come with my mom or out of town guests who want to wander and maybe have brunch. They have different large sections for indoor, shaded, full sun plants. This garden center is truly magical! My daughter had fun running up and down all the paths and visiting with the chickens. She also loved browsing the gift/toy section. We didn't visit the cafe, but it looked like a lovely spot to enjoy a sunny day. They have a decent selection of native plants- though I think it could be better- and TONS of other garden options organized in sections. Prices seem WAY inflated, though. Our cashier was friendly and helpful, but the other workers didn't seem naturally inclined to really dive in and help... they were busy with their other tasks and seemed more intent on avoiding customers rather than engaging. read more

Wasn't talking on phone, just looking at it. Lovely place to wander during every season, especially on a sunny day. They have an extensive variety of trees, shrubs and perennials in addition to annuals. The gift shop is loaded with treasures for you or the Gardner in your life: books, vases, planters, garden art,bird feeders, indoor houseplants, birdcages, picture frames, soaps, cards and more! Walking around the grounds feels like visiting an actual garden not a nursery! Everything is artfully arranged and also growing naturally, just like your garden at home. There are trellises with roses and arches covered in vines, water features of all sizes, large urns filled with the colors of the season and trailing vines. Everywhere you look is another beautiful vignette. The addition of the cafe a few years ago, located in the bright yellow farmhouse on the property, makes the visit to this nursery a great way to spend a few hours with a friend. It's wonderful to sit on the porch or in the garden and enjoy a coffee, bakery item or meal after perusing the grounds. The staff has always been helpful in answering my questions and helping me select the right plant variety and telling me how to properly care for the plant. It's worth a visit to Cornell Farms in all seasons, including Christmas, when the trees, pointsettia, and garlands are plentiful and the gift shop has even more treasures. read more

Cornell Farm is great, wonderful, a fine nursery...all the plants I saw looked fabulous, kept damp, healthy-looking. The local native section was particularly well stocked--I found some strong and healthy huckleberry bushes, which is what I came in for, and left with those as well as a couple each of native iris, native columbine, and an Oregon 'nodding onion'. It's a lovely farm with a massive selection of plants. When you drive in, it might seem small but it's beautifully spread out over a much larger area. We went on a nice sunny weekday in February and it was filled with people. There was still ample parking, split into different sections. The collection of plants is also spread across different sections- shady plants, indoor plants, vegetable garden etc. You'll keep coming across unique little adornments everywhere- wreaths, trellises, garden sculptures. It's very tempting to buy a lot here! But the prices are relatively higher and I can see why. They seem to have put a lot of love and care and attention and it shows. The cafe was very charming too! I came for a peace lily. They had two sizes available and all appeared to be in good condition. I was disappointed with the selection of pots. They have mostly unglazed terra-cotta and a few glazed for indoor plants. I couldn't find one to match my decor, so I went to Fred Meyer and found one. The customer service is good. The told me how to select the right pot and how to care for my plant. I'll be back for future needs. read more

I'd like to start off by saying that we are regular customers here and have always loved this place PRE-COVID. Every time we have family or friends from out of town we take them here. My husband's mom, great-aunt, and my grandmother so we took them here today for coffee. Terrible experience with extremely rude customer service! They have taken covid measures to an extreme with a very aggressive and rude attitude. There are many places keeping customers safe the right way, and this place is not one of them! All 3 family members are older aged and cannot walk easily, they park in the accessibility spot legally. We were turned away from the only ramp to enter the cafe because of covid policies they have where you can only enter one way. So they forced my elderly family members and my husband and I with our 5 week old baby in a stroller to walk around to the other side of the property and up a bunch of steps! The ramp was empty and nobody was even using it! My in-laws go in and order coffee, then proceed to look at some mugs they wanted to buy as souvenir. The baristas then rudely kicked them out of the cafe because they had another customer waiting outside to come in. My mother-in-law said that they were about to buy a mug and they just lost a sale. The two baristas then turned to look at each other and LAUGHED! When is that ever ok!? This place might've been amazing before coronavirus but steer clear of it now! Terrible terrible service with no respect for the elderly or people with disabilities. read more

I love this little farm! This is the perfect place to browse endless indoor and outdoor plants, along with fruit trees and vegetable crops. Plus, they have most of the accessories you need so this is a one stop shop! Hungry while you're there? Make sure to stop by the Cornell Farms Cafe in the yellow house (as long as it's before 2pm). I believe they serve coffee later in the afternoon! The plants they sell here are offered in many varieties and usually seem really healthy. I have bought numerous plants from them over the years and have never had issues with fungus/mold/diseases. This has got to be one of the most beautiful nurseries I have ever been to. Walking around the grounds, everything is so wonderfully laid out that one might forget that they are browsing a shop that sells plants as opposed to just wandering around in a beautiful garden. There was plenty of staff out watering plants and keeping things in order. They seemed pretty hands off, which may be a good thing or a bad thing. No one really asked us if we were looking for any particular plant. The lady who answered our questions when we approached her seemed pretty short with her answers, but not unfriendly. They play some of the best relaxing/indie/ethereal music I have ever heard a nursery or cafe play, so that made browsing all the more pleasant. Selection is great. If you are a hydrangea lover, definitely come give this place a visit. read more

This is the place to go in Portland if you need plants. I go a several times a year and every time, their staff has been exceedingly knowledgeable about their plants and very very helpful. If you go during a busy time, it's pretty hard to park... But that would be my only complaint! And of course there little café is wonderful.... read more

I had a recent disappointing experience. I like buying flowers and plants here and most recently was advised by an employee to purchase three items and it turns out she poorly advised as they all died in the sun, as they were shade plants. I asked for sun grasses. I went back and purchased replacement plants and other items. I mentioned the experience to the saleswoman and cashier. No one really cared and I was handed a business card to contact someone. I decided to give them a call and the owner answered. I explained what happened. To my surprise her largest concern was training her various employees and ended the call with zero courtesy for the customer. I will be purchasing else ware after this, I just found the entire call to be so off putting that an owner would take zero responsibility and not even credit one of the replacement grasses given how much I have spent there the past two months. read more

I want to love this nursery because it's adorable and it's in my neighborhood, but I cannot. I visited at 11 am on a Thursday and perused the lovely grounds for 20-30 minutes strolling through with my baby. There were a slew of workers tending to the plants but not a single person said anything to me. That's not particularly my reason for two stars though. I bought a $60 hanging basket. At checkout I asked if there were any tips to maintain it. The woman behind the register called Rebecca over. Rebecca told me "it's a sun plant. This amazing nursery stole my heart! What an incredible selection of plants, all displayed so beautifully. I visited this wonderland on a sunny Sunday, and it was PACKED! Visit on a weekday, if you can. Lots of customers had well behaved pups with them so hooray for this dog friendly establishment on the West side.
