We were very impressed with Cornell Farm with the selection of Christmas Trees and as important, the service and assistance provided by the staff. My wife and I have moved to the Hillsboro area recently, and after making a list of possible lots and farms for us to purchase two trees for our house, we decided to go to Cornell Farm. A few of the reviews regarding the service gave me some concern, but we didn't see any of it. Quite the opposite. We were immediately greeted and the person helped us select two different trees. The cost may be a bit higher than some of the others I looked at online, but we will go back next year. The trees were fresh, the selection was great, and the service was phenomenal.

This review is mostly for the Plant Swap event. For years I've wanted to attend Cornell Farm's plant swap, and I finally made it this year! It's held in the tent right behind the cafe, and it was already bustling when I arrived at 4:05. I placed my plants on an empty table, and quickly surveyed all of the swappable plants on the other ones. There were many cuttings and potted plants, and I quickly grabbed a few that caught my eye. After putting a few of my plants on the free table, I went for a walk around the nursery to give them some time to find their new home. The weather was cold and rainy, but the green scenery and fresh air made me feel relaxed and refreshed. Also, the nursery was always nice and neat, so it was always a treat to wonder around, discover new plants and check out the chickens. When I returned to the plant swap tent, I was delighted to see that people grabbed all my succulents. It felt good to know they went to good homes and encouraged me to nurse more little ones for the next swap. Overall, it was such a fun event as swappers were delighted with an array of plants and engaging with questions and comments. The staff was there to answer questions as well, they even brought a hen into the swap, and that was fun.

Elevated Bakery and kind of French farm to table comfort food and brunch. They charge the menu every so often and it's been great every time we've been here. First- excellent coffee and cappuccino. Both perfect. The biscuits and taso gravy was so good. Only minor critique is it needs to be a little better. The omelet was ham cheese and asparagus. Was really good too. (Fyi- The hashbrowns were great in my leftover gravy.) The cinnamon roll was hot right out of the oven, gooey and sticky. Amazing. The used a lighter sweet frosting, not a thicker cream cheese frosting. Regardless, it was excellent. The chocolate chip cookies are the bomb, as are the cheddar chive biscuits. Just a phenomenal place. Forgot our servers name- she was fun, helpful and worked hard. Obviously enjoyed her job!

Any season brings blooms and garden love. Dec 22 enjoy 40 percent off holiday this week. Plenty of fresh beautiful wreaths and greenery. My choice is a gorgeous happy camellia and bulbs and a suet container. Great gifts as well. But the best gift is wandering through a healthy nursery on a sunny Portland day!!

Such a beautiful place to peruse for indoor, and outdoor plants. Social distancing is in place with markers, and staff to guide you. All staff are wearing masks, and hand sanitizers are easily within reach. Plexiglass screens also separate the cashier from customers when you pay. They have an abundance of trees, shrubs, annuals, and perennials. They're locally owned and purchasing from them improves the local economy, so that's a win right there. Their prices are also comparable to other nurseries in the area. Give them a visit, you won't be disappointed.

Love this place. It's such an impressive nursery, it's often one of the spots I like to take out of towners even. They have super friendly staff, who tries their best to help even if they don't have the answers. I actually love the organization and layout of the various sections of the nursery. It's highly intuitive where everything is in their vast selection of plants, trees, soil, etc. It's a bit on the pricey side, but I find it a bit cheaper than some of the other in city nurseries, and it's worth the short drive. Also, they keep their plants super healthy and I know they try not to sell plants that show disease or infested with aphids...so worth the extra cost imo.

Their indoor plants, not so many but definitely worth checking out!

Very sweet nursery in the suburbs. It's large and has lots of plants that look healthy and well maintained. The prices are slightly higher than some other nurseries but if you're looking to buy from family owned business, this is it. It is also a nice place I would come with my mom or out of town guests who want to wander and maybe have brunch. They have different large sections for indoor, shaded, full sun plants. Their container displays were gorgeous. I would definitely come back just to see what is available and for ideas.

My new favorite nursery, and it's massive, and they have happy hour cocktails and a cafe. So big we only saw half of the nursery in the span of about 40 minutes. Highly recommend. (Very last pic with the box is what we bought as a reward for a recent major downsize...)

Do they offer vegetable garden starters? Last I was there (mid COVID outbreak), they did not.

Hi Christa, yes, we do! Our Kitchen Garden Greenhouse is full of the best veggie starts the season has to offer. :)

I was fortunate enough to see some of their handiwork at an event held in the yard of someone who had previously discovered them. Hearing about what that space had looked like before and seeing the magical landscape that had been created there, I knew my wife and I needed to meet Nick Lake. Since then, he and his fantastic team have completely transformed our outside space into the most beautiful part of our home. Nick is an absolute treasure trove of inspiration and information. From the moment we first met with him, we knew we wanted to proceed as soon as possible. We didn't have pressing issues that made landscaping work an "emergency" (e.g., no water problems directly related to the yard), so an outside project easily could have waited. We also did not have a high level of horticultural knowledge, nor did we even know exactly what we wanted when we first started talking to Nick. We knew our yard had "potential", i.e. it was a smallish but not tiny, pretty drab space that wasn't particularly functional and wasn't much to look it. It was our conversation with Nick and his vision for the yard that made us want to move forward at that time and turn it into something great. Since then, with a combination of "demo" work, mulching, softscaping and hardscaping, every aspect of our yard has become a thing of beauty that we see and enjoy every single day. Throughout the process, Nick and his team have worked closely with us on every decision and every detail. Nick plays an integral role in all parts of the process and communication with him and his team has always been easy, fun, rewarding, and thorough. There have never been any surprises in terms of cost or how something was done. As a result, everything is exactly what was discussed and we could not be any happier with it. Nick certainly deserves the lion's share of the credit as the owner of the business, the mastermind behind the work, and a hands-on contributor to the implementation. That said, huge shout out for his entire crew and honorary mention for Tulsi, the smart and adorable dog that might make some appearances if Tashana is working and you give the green light. Every member of the team brings something important to the job, always including hard work but also creativity and individual areas of interest and expertise. The result is frequent flashes of brilliance and pleasant surprises throughout all phases of a project. It isn't a great time of year for pictures as I'm writing this (I'll add more in the spring) but below is a stone bench that took form during one day's work. This was not even part of the original plan, just an off-the-cuff idea (thanks to Kyle, Tommy, Daniel and Tashana if memory serves) to which we could have said "no thanks" if we were that foolish. Even once there are more pictures to add, they can only do so much. Nick knows he is always welcome to swing by and show off the beauty, which keeps getting better with every growth season. Whether we are sitting in the yard, walking through it to get to or from the house, or just staring at it through a window, we count ourselves lucky that this is actually part of our home. I cannot recommend Earth Ecology strongly enough. With Nick and his crew, you will get everything that you wanted and a lot more. As happened for us, you will get done with each step and be so happy that you decided to go for it, and occasionally scratch your head wondering if there is anything else you can do out there. Thanks, Earth Ecology :-)

Naturally, we contacted the store expecting them to stand behind the products they profit from. Instead, they immediately hid behind the manufacturer and acted like none of it was their problem. So apparently Home Depot's business model is: Sell defective products, collect the money, dump the customer onto someone else when things fail. Amazing system. Truly. Anyone can make money if they never take responsibility for what they sell. And this wasn't even a one-time experience. Nearly everything we've purchased from this particular store has had issues, defects, or outright failures. Getting anyone there to help is like talking to a wall. No ownership, no urgency, no accountability. Just endless "you'll have to call someone else" nonsense from employees who clearly have been trained to avoid responsibility at all costs. At this point, it feels like Home Depot is less interested in customer service and more interested in being a middleman for defective junk while leaving customers stuck dealing with the consequences. Companies like this wonder why customers stop coming back and why people are abandoning big-box stores. Here's your answer: People are tired of paying premium prices for garbage products and nonexistent support. Absolutely pathetic customer service.
