I have been told by so many people to try this place. They've were all right. I was impressed that the prices were so good for the excellent, in trend, hip collection they've curated. I would not recommend buying designer items from Artifact. I bought a fake designer sweater for several hundred dollars and was told that they did their best and that they would not deviate from their policy of only offering store credit if I wanted to return it. I probably should have known before I bought it because of how easy it was to confirm as fake by comparing the design to official product photos from the brand. There is another fake available for sale online at a comparable price so I get how they got there but it still feels misleading, especially because I was willing to splurge in part because of the fabric content, which I now don't trust to be accurate. Overall I wouldn't recommend shopping here for higher ticket items. read more

Really cute and varied consistent shop. You want jewelry that you don't have to sift through? It's here. You want some funky and fun houseware or decoration? Here. And the clothing are nicer than most thrift stores so there's a little premium. But job won't have to sift through a bunch of clothes you never would wear. I went for the first time with my daughter and you can see the staff is pleasant and helpful. They help young and old, funky and conservative. Felt inclusive and friendly. We got several pieces of clothing and jewelry but could easily see myself getting an armful more. Glad it's not too close to my house otherwise I'd probably stop by every week. We popped into Artifact on the hunt for a couch not expecting to find something right away, but we immediately found the comfiest couch ever!! It was our first time buying a large piece of furniture from them - they let us put the couch on hold till the end of day so we could go home & measure our space. It all ended up workin' out so we called & paid over the phone - also so easy! They also recommended a moving service that people often use to pick up from their shop/deliver (shoutout to Caleb & John w/Van Plus Two Guys!). The couch was also such a good price!! I usually hit a wall after about 30 mins of shopping anywhere, but I can spend upwards of 2 hours in this place. This is thanks to the great layout, lighting and overall atmosphere that makes it feel like you're discovering pieces in someone's beautiful living room. Feels cozy and magical. I always walk away with a lot of magical pieces for such a great price. This really is the crème de la creme of vintage shopping on the west coast. Its been a few years since I have been here and theres been a decent amount of changes both to the layout of the store & the consignment portion. But also the prices of the items on the floor has gone WAY WAY up. I came in to sell & made some money but unfortunately I didn't see a single thing in my size that I liked. The clothing section seems smaller than I remember. Just super limited. Not much in a large or XL, which is a bummer. They're just not buying it for some reason. It just feels empty and not as fun as it did a couple years ago. Lots of things with stains and damage as well. I dont think I would return again just based on the things & prices I saw. read more

Great vintage shop with merchandise that runs the gamut. Lots of clothes, jewelry, housewares and some furniture. Largest selection of Leather bomber jackets from the 70s and an impressive selection of boots. Women's dresses, pants, coats, jackets from multiple decades; the night I was there, the 70s were the most represented. Love the mid century mod furniture, especially a turquoise acrylic chair that I wish I could make space for! Some of the pieces will literally make a room. The store is easy to walk through; even though it's well stocked. Unlike other vintage shops, they have created wide enough paths making it easy to meander through the various sections even when there are lots of other customers there. In the case they have jewelry, both vintage and some new pieces by local craftspeople. Love the long dangly earrings. Always worth a stop when I'm anywhere in the area. Prices are competitive; I haven't come across any fabulous deals, but I've felt the items I bought were worth the price. read more

I have always been a fan of this store until a weird thing happened today. I had a bench that had a broken spring and was stained pretty badly/full of dog hair. I put it on the curb bc it would be crazy to ask money for it. Whoever took it must have sold it to Artifact bc I found it listed on their marketplace for $200! I reached out and let them know that it is broken, that the spring pokes through when you sit on it and puts holes in your clothes. Someone responded saying that was "a funny story" followed by a condescending "have a good day!" The item is still listed for sale. Honestly kinda shocked and thought people should know they seem to have no issue knowingly selling broken furniture. Don't buy it yall it's gonna ruin your pants! read more

Prices vary some things are more expensive but still lots of good things for very reasonable prices. Hands down the best thrift/consignment I found on a weekend visit to Portland. Kudos to whoever curated what comes in the store because they do a great job. You don't have to pick through a bunch of junk to find the treasure. Everything is on trend. Super cute trendy stuff- I snagged a faux leather mini skirt ($12) and THE BEST 80s pullover top ($12). So cute can't wait for fall to wear them. Prices are great for most things and they even have some great higher end stuff. I tried on a Moschino dress that fit like a charm ($135). Jezum Crow, this place is everything that is glorious and right about Portland, still shining brightly on Division!! I'm admittedly a freaking sucker for all things vintage, but it was the plants that initially brought me into the shop (well played, Artifact; well played). Once within the doors, I was transfixed by the fascinating and stunning collection of bygone furniture, tchotchkes, art and decor. Coming from Seattle, the reasonable prices of the items here felt inappropriately low because they were, in fact, appropriate and reasonable. One can create a fucking stellar apartment on a sobre persons budget here without working for a big tech company. Can't say the same back home. Bless you artifact, for the keen eye of your buyers and for keeping the prices of your items realistic and reasonable for the rest of us. I recently brought in two suitcases full of clothes for resale. The person who greeted me said I should leave the suitcases with her and come back in 15 to 20 minutes. It seemed a bit strange to me that I wasn't going to be present as she processed my clothes, as that is customary at other resale and consignment shops, but I browsed around the shop and came back to see what she was accepting for resale. She gestured over to a pile where I saw two of my button down shirts, one pink one white. The rest of the clothes in their pile were decidedly not mine. I asked her "so you are accepting just a few shirts then?" and she confirmed yes. I was paid about $16 which seemed fair for a few shirts and comparable to what I get for resale at Buffalo Exchange. A few days later as I was going through my remaining items I noticed that several pieces were missing. Two dresses, a pair of leggings, a skirt, the list kept growing. I called and spoke with Atiana to see if maybe my piles of clothes were misplaced. They weren't. At least six of my items were taken, possibly more, and I only received $16. If I had known this, I would not have accepted such a low payment for so many items. I found out that the person who processed my clothes was the manager, so it's not as though she was a new hire that made a mistake. ***The resale process was not transparent nor accountable. The manager was either lazily deceptive or deliberately stole from me. But the result remains the same. I felt lied to and taken advantage of.*** I am not going back to this store. If you are looking to sell your clothes, go to Buffalo Exchange where they're always transparent, accountable, and when they accept your items, they offer a much higher payment. read more

It didn't even take me five minutes in the store to see that there was not one thing that looked interesting to me in terms of clothing. Yikes. I really like this store for their eclectic mix of vintage, secondhand, and fun/quirky items. A quick 15-minute stop yielded me a cute purse (Forever 21, a beautiful bright blue), a fun ring, and a gorgeous swan ring holder (I've been looking for years for something like this!). All for $19! Given more time, I'm sure I would've found something to take home amongst: - Their clothes, many very international/traditional looking, also trendy stuff. - Their furniture (these were a bit more pricey, some seem not to be second hand but made by local furniture makers). - Their household items (decor, tableware, table cloths). - Vintage cameras in those nice old-school leather cases. And I thought this store was SUPER affordable. Maybe it's normal for Portland, but for someone used to San Francisco prices, I found everything to be about half the price of what I'd expect. read more

I was a little disappointed to find pieces from forever 21 and target on the racks that were priced as you would find them new in a store . This place is tidy and bustling on a Saturday afternoon , every kind of hipster and hipster in training is here thumbing through the racks. As a person of color I was profiled when shopping waiting for MY items that I was selling to be finished being appraised. The pink hair girl went as far to follow me and then ask to hold my items but no other(white) person in the store?? I didn't see or feel they agreed with any of the "Black Lives Matter" signs they had in the window. Will not be returning or recommending and will be telling everyone of this experience. They do a really good job of pricing items for their true value. The shop has done some updates for the buying counter which is awesome! This is a really cool vintage/second-hand store on Division. My mom discovered this place a few months ago (I don't remember how) and had mentioned it in several conversations since. While I was home for the holidays, she insisted we visit, and I'm so happy she did! The items in the store are a mix between secondhand (ie. blouses and jeans you'd find at Goodwill), vintage (clothes from the 70s and 80s), antiques (furniture pieces at least a few decades old) plus a sprinkling of other random and cool items like those Hawaiian warrior heads made from coconuts. For the vintage and secondhand stuff, their prices are pretty good. I would say probably cheaper than Goodwill (or maybe the same, but the stuff is better). I bought a pair of Free People floral pants for $14 and a brand new necklace for $10. They were also selling a real fur coat for $35! Not my style, but was impressed it wasn't pricier. All in all, definitely worth a browse through Artifact. read more
