By the time we moved to the fitting room, I had quite a collection. Throughout the fitting room party, Yvonne continued to check on me for sizes and suggesting more options (without being pushy). I had no idea Lane carried a size 12 and had the size in abundance. This was new news to me. Lane Bryant has stepped out of the shadows of the homely, frumpy 90's style for Plus Sized Women. Prior to visiting, I would not consider myself Plus Sized, but curvy and voluptuous. Lane has arrived. The new styles provide clothing that is functional, comfortable and trendy without sacrificing your self esteem. Their denim collection is high quality featuring fabric that provides stretch and functionality. I saw quite a few pieces I'll have to return to purchase. I purchased a pair of skinny jeans and a cute mock neck knit top with ruching. I saved over $30 this trip. So during a stroll through my new neighborhood, I popped into the Cameron Village location, and at first all seemed peachy. I was greeted cheerfully by a voice behind the counter and I called back a hello and started wading through colorful scarves and dresses. And then my shopping experience took a nose dive. I was just browsing and didn't need much in the way of assistance. Still - I could have done without the two young sales associates complaining *loudly* about a guest who'd just left. The young man (crap - I'm getting old) referred to the woman a b*tch trying to cause him trouble and gave an elegant soliloquy to the entire store highlighting his desire to slap her should she return. Nice dude. Real classy. Then, a young girl came out of the dressing room in a dress and wondered out loud if they might have any belts to go with it. The two associates (now sitting on the counter together, thumbs ablazing on their cell phones) pointed vaguely to the back. No one hopped up to show her exactly where they were? Maybe pick out a couple that might look fantastic with her dress?? Sonuva... this girl and her mother were out to drop some benjamins on a new wardrobe. The girl wanted the belt off a mannequin, but was being completely ignored (I got the distinct feeling they didn't want to go through the trouble of removing it for her). At any rate, I'm (not so) secretly hoping the owner gets her eyes on this review and keeps a closer watch on what's going on in her boutique. This was an unbelievable case of tacky customer service, and I'd hate to let something like that turn guests off to this cool little boutique.

The other day, I decided to venture off to Cameron Village. While some areas of Cameron Village pretend like covid-19 is not a thing, Madison did a great job making me feel safe. You can try on clothes, and I am pretttyyyy sure they sanitize the clothes after you try em on. I put back a shirt I didn't want, and I noticed they went back and grabbed it off the rack and took it to the back, presumably to sanitize. I love that. I will 500% be back (esp when there are sales!)

It wasn't until it became closer to closing that one staff walked over to me to let me know that they would be closing in 10 minutes. How rude?! "No, hello. Let me know if I can help with anything." The staff here interact with each other and never the customers. I took my money to Dick's next door. Two stars for the clean and organized store, which is the only positive here.

While Mom relaxed in the comfy chairs in front of the HDTV, the employee and I got busy finding the items on the list. When one of the items couldn't be found on the sales floor he excused himself for a trip to the storage room and returned with the sizes and colors we had requested. After ringing up the purchase, he found gift boxes and went to the trouble to neatly put the items into the gift boxes for us. This was very nice, as in years past at Casual Male XL boxes were either not available or they were given flat for us to complete on our own. It is still a bit pricey, but I do like the availability of sizes and styles available for the big and tall men's needs.
