This is by far the best Aritaum store I've been to. I have visited multiple stores for the past 10 years and this place was the place that actually helped me with my skin condition. The owner Jenny is super kind, friendly and so helpful. She has alot of information about the products and she was able to recommend the right products for my skin condition. When I visited the store at The Source, the employees were not educated on the products so I was not able to trust them. This afternoon, I visited this business for the first time and my mother accompanied me. I am an American-born Korean and my primary and preferred language is English. My family was and continues to be displaced due to the Eaton fire. As a result, I lost all hygiene and beauty products, including all makeup, not to mention countless other belongings. I have begun the process of trying to rebuild a basic skincare and makeup collection and today was seeking moisturizer, sunscreen, and BB/CC cream. When we arrived, the Korean woman working was helping another customer and using fluent English to do so. She was the only person working, and I assume based upon recent reviews that her name is Jenny. For convenience, I will refer to her as "the rep." My mother and I looked around at the products and politely waited for the rep to finish assisting her customer. When she came to assist us, I informed her, in English, of my situation and what I was looking for. The rep spoke only in Korean and proceeded to show and demonstrate the Sulhwasoo regimen of skincare, which involves six or seven steps and costs about $800. I explained I was not in a position to spend that kind of money for the reasons already stated. My husband and I have lost a great deal of property due to recent events and are still unsure of how much insurance will cover or when, so we have to be careful with our spending. I didn't explain the following, but FYI, it has already been excessively expensive to pay for temporary housing without any assistance from insurance for the past 3 weeks, not to mention the cost of products we need immediately to get from day to day. You'd be surprised how many things you don't miss until they're gone. (Don't use Mercury for any insurance needs you may have.) I found the rep to be unaccommodating, inappropriately critical, and presumptuous. For example, in the process of communicating with the rep, I mentioned to her that my Korean is not very good, that I prefer English, and wasn't understanding. She paused and then continued in Korean, while looking only at my mother, who was simply accompanying me and didn't speak almost at all. When the rep asked what I have been using as a cleanser, I explained I had been using baby oil and make-up wipes. She gasped as if this was the crime of the century and proceeded to explain how bad that is for my skin. Allow me to remind the audience that, again, I had to evacuate my home at very short notice recently and finding cleanser was not high on my priority list these past few weeks. Later, I explained I wasn't too worried about the product not being absorbed properly, since this is the key factoid she kept mentioning to justify the $800 Sulhwasoo regimen, because I perform at-home microneedling for myself among other things to encourage product absorption. She was extremely critical of this. She said microneedling is terrible for the skin and proceed to interrogate me about how often I do it and why I do it. I calmly explained that it doesn't have to be done aggressively or often, that there are different depths, that finer needles can be used for more regular use, and the various reasons for doing so. She looked at me blankly. We did move on to the Iope brand. During her demonstration of the Iope regimen on my skin, I noticed a shimmer from one of the products on my arm and I asked about it. But she laughed at my question and said (in Korean): "Of course there's no shimmer. It's skincare, why would there be shimmer? Seriously!" What kind of response is that to a customer? We talked about how dry my skin is, which is partly due to the fact that I Sjogren's Syndrome. It is also peeling slightly b/c I used a peel the night before in hopes that it will help my hyperpigmentation. When I mentioned the peel, the rep again gasped and frowned, and demanded to know why. She proceeded to lecture me about how bad it was for my skin, especially in conjunction with microneedling. I was taken aback by how aggressive her reprimand was considering she literally had no ideal what kind of peel I had used or what kind of microneedling I do. I gently informed her that I haven't performed microneedling on myself in quite some time (I haven't for at least a month because fire? evacuation?). I found her to be unnecessarily aggressive and condescending considering she knows nothing about my medical or skincare history or experience. I also found it odd that she did not know much about microneedling or peels considering her entire job is relating to skincare. She later also said she had never heard of identity theft when I was making a private comment to my mother not to share her birthdate with vendors? The entire experience gave me the impression that the rep was simply looking for reasons to contradict, one-up, and aggravate me the whole time. Obviously with the new craze online with korean skincare products I went in there wanting to get all of the trendy products you see all over the internet. However, she gave us the reality of those products and gave us recommendations of brands I would probably would never even consider or know about without her help and what she has recommended is doing wonders for my skin. She even went as far as giving us a sample size of a whole skincare regime she saw fit for my skin and one for my aunts skin as well. After meandering over from Daiso to check out cushion foundations at a store instead of trying to figure out my shade online, I was recommended a product that I wasn't familiar with. Jenny helped try some shades on me and I ended up liking the one she recommended better than what I had come in for. She asked me what I was using for my skincare and I told her TJMAX products. She was very informative and explained how what I was using was probably causing my skin to be dry! There's a lot of science to skincare that I wasn't aware of. Came here yesterday to buy some new facial products since im starting to run out of Iope to use. I noticed that there's more products from facial Emulsion, Moisturizer etc in the Iope line than before. While browsing and waiting for assistance I noticed that the Light Pink Bottle of Iope is not displayed. The lady who helped me yesterday happend to be the owner and honestly very happy to see her. Its been a while since I've seen her in the Artesia store. As always she's full of smiles, very friendly and explained that the Light Pink Iope had change the bottle color to Green and still good for combination skin. Also she help me try out the Dark Blue Line of Iope also good for combination skin and really love the feel of the product a little thicker and more creamy in texture than the one i used which more light and watery base. So will more likely buy it next visit.
