I usually order online from Ulta but a shoe company I had ordered from and needed to return offered a "happy return" at an Ulta location near me. So I took advantage of the "order online and pick up in store" option at the online site to get a fee essential cosmetics and combined both tasks! Though they do not always carry every brand I want, Ulta always has great promotions and coupons, and as a reward club member I earn points for future discounts. The Happy Return was very easy, no sealing of package or printing labels - just hand the packaged item off to a staff member at the designated spot in the front of the store and show my code from the company I'm returning from and they pack up the item and ship. I receive my refund almost instantly and Ulta gives me a coupon to use in store! Win-win! Picking up an item ordered online is also easy; there is a designated spot at the counter to do that. Even when there is a long check out line it seems to move pretty well. Shopping on the store can be a bit overwhelming; they have so many products! But every section is well labeled. I appreciate that they have a hair salon dept and Benefit brow bar. I haven't used them yet but it's good to know! Staff was helpful and pleasant. At checkout they pushed a little to get me to open a credit card but did give me a free mascara just for trying it. Though I will continue to order online, the store was nice to browse, really beautifully laid out and stocked, and a good option for pickups and returns, and to check out products. read more

Today, I had a truly dreadful experience at this Ulta location. The African American woman at the register was incredibly rude and had a bad attitude. Unfortunately, I couldn't catch her name. As I was the next person in line to receive assistance, someone who walked into the store immediately for an online order somehow got ahead of me. This was not only rude but also unprofessional, considering I was next in line. Afterwards, the lady Deijha who was assisting me at the register tried to rush me out immediately when I was trying to do a refund and inquire about the buy one get one free promotion. She appeared very bothered and didn't want to help answer my questions. If you're looking for good customer service and friendly people who can assist you with your makeup needs, I strongly advise you to avoid this Ulta location. read more

I could not be happier. I made an appointment for re-piercing my ears that had closed up since I stopped wearing earrings in 2019. I called the store in the evening the day before and Anthony helped me make an appointment over the phone and explained the cost and process. When I arrived at my designated appointment there was a bit of wait about 15 mins, but ultimately it was worth it. Julie let me pick out the two sets of earrings I wanted and did a great job of putting the earrings in the existing holes. She was great and so friendly and cheerful. She did a great job. read more

Curly girls who love "beach waves" know it's not easy finding a stylist who understands the complexities of our wiry texture. I've gone to places who "specialize" in blow outs and still left disappointed. Did they really have to use a flat iron? My new Calico color. It's more of a subdued Calico - not too noisy, doesn't scream like a cat in heat. However, I am thinking this low-key Cat might be mewing their way to something a little more intense in the coming months. If you're feeling stompy, Go For It! This review is 100 percent for Nadine and all the stylists at the Long Beach Towne Center. Everyone is cool there. POINTS. You can earn points every time you get your hair done. And that's money back. Where else can you do that? ULTA has paid for one of my blow outs and I have another "free" one coming (or I can save my dollars until Christmas and splurge on my teenager). The stylists here are always friendly and do a great job once you're in the chair, but I've noticed they tend to run behind schedule quite often. I've even received calls letting me know they're running late or that another client added a last-minute service. While I understand things happen, it can be frustrating when you've booked an appointment for a specific time. The customer service was horrible! The associates just looked at me while I walked around trying to find an item. I asked the team lead Simone and she pointed and said it will be over there. Where is over there? I turned around and she wasn't even behind me to guide me.She didn't assist me at all. Pointing and saying over there is bad especially coming from a lead. First off, i am an Ulta rewards member with a significt amout if points amd a high limit Ulta Mastercard. I stopped by this store to redeem some ponts and replenish my stock. During my visit, no one acknowledged my presence except the security guard. They didn't have the product I wanted, so I substituted with another exclusive brand and picked up a couple more items. During checkout the clerk asks if I want to redeem some points, which I do and I also had her a coupon. My purchase wasn't eligible for the purchase, which I accept. So she re-rings my order and informs me that she has to get approval? She saw my card, ID and I gave her my number. As I'm standing there, the line is getting longer and the security guard is inching closer. I'm totally incensed at this point and I tell her I'm leaving. I know kids are smashing and grabbing, but I'm a 50something year old woman driving a marked company vehicle! It may have been a misunderstanding, but it was embarrassing and a disgusting display of customer service. I will go out of my way to avoid this store in the future. read more

Horrible. I called to speak with a store representative about info for sponsoring a non-profit fundraiser. A gentleman - he wasn't so gentle, answered the phone. Initially, he asked me to hold. I agreed to hold. When he got back on the phone, I continued with my request. He advised that I contact customer service. I asked him for the number for customer service. He put me on hold again. He returned to the phone, gave me the number, said, "Thank you" and hung up while I was trying to ask a question. BTW, I am a customer of ULTA. This is different from how a store should represent itself to the community. The customer service agent at the 800 number seemed like she hates her job. She was unfriendly and not really concerned with my request. I really want a reason to like ULTA, but they give me so many reasons not to and I keep ending up at Sephora, regardless of the higher prices (lol). Unfortunately my go to hairstylist Nadine was fully booked so I had no choice but to try a new stylist. I chose Janet O. She did an ok job on the back part of my hair but horribly on the bangs. At the end of my haircut, she asked her coworker Honor M. To help her blow dry my hair. Honor M was hesitant, it was around 6pm and it was obvious that they wanted to go home. When Honor M decided to help Janet blow dry my hair she roughly and aggressively dug her brush into my scalp and pulled my hair a few times with all her force causing me pain. It was as though she was fighting with someone and pulled my hair so badly I had to tell her to stop. I caught Honor and Janet looking at each other and giggling about what Honor did to me. When I asked her to stop, Honor replied with "it's because I work with textured hair, I'll let Janet finish your hair" and smirked. I replied with "It seems like you did it on purpose". After the incident, Honor left the salon two minutes and said bye to her coworkers. I was in pain and felt very upset. Going to the hair salon is a form of self care, yet I left feeling as though I was beat up by someone, upset and in distress. I informed their supervisor. Who goes to a salon to get beat up? She pulled hair out and now I'm afraid of her damaging my hair follicles. They have lost a loyal customer. Too bad because Nadine is excellent! But BEWARE DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON! Horrible I had never experienced anything like this. I also never write reviews but I feel as though others should know what I experienced before going there and spending their money. Newly opened in the new Long Beach exchange LBX center! Clean, great selection of all various makeup brands, and helpful staff. I went in for clear brow gel, however I couldn't find what I was looking for so a nice lady helped me locate it. Got what I needed and then some. They have a great selection of travel sized products that are the perfect size if you don't want to commit to the large size or not sure you'll even like it. It's a great way to try something new that is less costly. They even have a beauty station where a professional will do a "makeover" for you!
