Chris was extremely patient in talking through with me the challenging nature of trying to modify our new electronic front door lock that utilizes a Schlage keyway to be able to use the same key that opens all the other doors which are Baldwin (Kwikset). The respective cylinders are not the same and normally not interchangeable. That said, Chris took the time to review various approaches others had tried and a video showing the internals of our new lock, within minutes found a part he had that might work, and agreed to come out see if it could be done. In the end the cylinder that he had was a very near match but required a modification which he made on site. The lock now functions perfectly as before but can be opened with our existing house keys. He even made us some extra KW keys while he was here. If the electronic lock ever has an unexpected battery outage, we can open it with our house key, no need to carry a separate key around, which is what we wanted. Super knowledgeable, super nice guy. Wow... talk about at our beck and call... Maybe I just got lucky with the timing but I did a yelp request for an estimate to re-key 8 door locks and within 5 minutes I had a reply. I would never leave a review for anything but I just had to this time. When I called him for a pricing, he was really nice and friendly and the price was a lot cheaper than i ever expected!!! Then I asked couple questions about changing the lock -- do you need to look at the lock before change? Then he said no. While after HE CALLED ME BACK, and told me "miss- I was just worried since you asked that question... Did any other locksmith asked you that? Because there is a locksmith scam they would charge you for few hundreds reason being they need to look at the locks first. Just wanted to let you know locksmith doesn't need to do that" I was really touched him being so thoughtful even when I just called for pricing. Also- His hours are very flexible as well.
