Worse experience ever. This guy is the most disrespectful person you can ever come across. He has no respect for the customers or their clothes whatsoever. He doesn't know how to talk, he yells, he's rude and always Insulting and cursing people out. Now speaking of his work is overpriced and mediocre. He would charge you the same for fixing a button or if you need to taper and hem your pants and his excuse is "the rent here is expensive and everything cost money" and still would do whatever he wants to your clothes even if you didn't asked for. He's just a joke, he's miserable and doesn't care about his job and is not as if he know how to do it well either. If you don't want your clothes to be messed up and also don't feel like being insulted, then you better skip this place. There's plenty of other tailors that work faster, charge what's supposed to be and care for their customers. read more

Gracias Aridio! Excellent tailor who made my curtains/valance and pillow covers! Best prices around and supernice guys!!! It helps to bring a picture to show details and they will deliver exactly as you discuss. I'll certainly be back for all my tailoring needs! read more

I gave this guy my son's coat to replace a broken zipper. He told me to come back Saturday. Wrote it on the ticket. That was totally fine. But when I came back it wasn't ready, he had done nothing on it, & told me come in Sunday at 1pm. When I tried to ask why nothing was accomplished he started to shout, and when I tried to confirm that Sunday it would in fact be done, he ripped the ticket off the coat and told me to get out. Never in MY WHOLE LIFE have I ever had an interaction like this with a tailor, and I've been to lots of them. This was an insane interaction after I had just watched the owner have a DIFFERENT fight with a DIFFERENT customer. Terrible. Awful. Never use this guy read more

Amazing work ! They got my suit exactly right - affordable - quick efficient. And very kind read more

Aridio helped make my wedding dress absolutely perfect for my big day. I had an outdoor ceremony and needed a lot of hemming. He managed to get the perfect length and also adjusted the straps for a perfect fit. He also suggested adding a train hook which was a real life saver. His work is impeccable and SO fast. I'm so happy with the results and would recommend him to anyone that needs expert tailoring. read more

I've taken clothing to him three times in the last month. He's five stars because of: - price - willingness to work - knowledge of tailoring - knowledge of classic men's wear - ability to do custom requests I give this criteria higher value than his shortcomings: - the shop is indeed extremely small. The "fitting room" is a curtain loop around some bent metal. You're protected from the window, and if you're accustomed to changing in front of men (i.e. gym locker rooms, etc.) this isn't an issue. That said, I could see me possibly having to stand in front of the curtain "gap" for my wife, or holding it shut it my hand. - he does get easily flustered. Because I'm constantly exposed to this cultural phenomenon (many older hispanic men behave this way, my father included), I'm not shocked when he flies around the counter, doing a few things at once, getting exasperated with phone calls, or a forming line at the door. His phone etiquette isn't great, there's no denying that. His english ability doesn't compare to his spanish speaking ability, so you're not getting the full breadth of his personality. He also doesn't like getting spam calls, so he's on edge that the calls might be a robot. I've picked up on this as a native Spanish speaker, as he complains to his assistant. - he does occasionally miss details. I'd asked for trousers to be tapered, and they weren't. He apologized profusely and said I could come back for them the same day. You will need to: - be patient in communicating. If you speak English only, this could be a major challenge. I've spoken to him in spanish, save for one term I didn't know in Spanish (beltloops, which he calls "tirillos"). - understand that he's from a different culture. He does warm up to you eventually, he even cracked a few jokes with me on the second and third visits to his shop. But overall, this guy is a gem. He's not getting any younger but he does have the old school mentality to work hard and prove his worth. I highly recommend him. read more

I have been using him for years... he is one of the few traditional Tailors around, who will not try to rob you just because the neighborhood is gentrified. With reason, I returned to him when my husband needed a suit for our wedding. It came out spectacular!!! read more

Aridio's Tailor - Work done by Aridio for our wedding. He is a master! - Sewing & Alterations Near Me - Astoria, New York

Got my vintage bridal shower gown altered here (straps shortened & complete take in) for an affordable price. Extremely pleased with how well it was done - you would never guess it was worked on! It fits exactly how I wanted it and I'm very happy. Will be coming back for any and all alterations in my future. read more

Detailed, professional, and friendly service. I've taken several pieces and everything comes out great. Happy to have found reliable tailor in the neighborhood. read more

I would not recommend. He has terrible customer service. He doesn't speak English. I spoken to him in Spanish and still doesn't understand. He likes to do the opposite that you tell him. I used top A+ tailors in the past and he's a C- tailor. Don't waste your time on this tailor that has kindergarten skills. read more

I used Aridio several years ago at his old 30th Avenue location to hem some suit pants. Happy to find him again on Steinway Street by Ditmars. Recently took 2 blazers in to have the sleeves shortened about an inch and he did a great job working with the thicker fabric and reattaching the buttons. The charge was $35 per blazer and without a rush it took 1 week. FYI it's cash only. It also helps if you speak Spanish, but it's not necessary. read more

Very quick, great quality and nice man. I had a zipper repaired on a winter coat and it was $35. Not sure if that was a little pricey, but for the service and quality, I was satisfied. read more

So happy with how my dress turned out and how quickly I got it back. I took a sequin dress to be hemmed and to close the chest a bit and Aridio did a great job. His English is limited but it's not really an issue in person, it could be the reason though some people have had bad phone experiences, I think what they're interpreting as rude is just a language barrier because he's friendly and warm in person. read more

I got some jeans and some denim shorts taken in and am really happy with the job he did. I had a really pleasant experience and felt valued as a customer, even for such a small job. I will definitely be using Aridio again -- glad to have found this place. read more

Aridio is SUPER friendly and provided great service with an excellent turnaround time. I needed a dress hemmed and taken in for a wedding and he had it back to me in less than 24 hours. The price was VERY reasonable, I will definitely be going to him for all my tailoring needs. read more

I took two dresses to have loops added for straps that I was buying separate. He sewed two pieces of thread into the front and back which isn't what I asked for. It was also difficult to communicate with him which makes getting a job you need done the way you'd like. I paid him but was unable to get bra straps into the work he did. I'm not sure about his other work but I have to find another tailor to redo his mistakes. read more

Best tailor I've found! I've referred him many times as he's always had the best quality work. I now drive from PA for all my tailoring for him... He's a kind man who remembers my family and is very personable. I'd recommend him to all. read more

Agree with the other review - forget about trying to ask a question over the phone. He's incredibly rude and cut me off, asking me to just come in. That's not the way to get new customers. Especially because I was asking if he had a special machine that is able to sew stretchy material. (Other alteration shops did not have it and didn't want to make the trip without knowing) Disappointed given the positive reviews. read more

Aridio's Tailor is amazing! They do great work and are always on time. Their customer service is fantastic!!!

I went there for a rush request. I needed a garment altered for an event the next day. For the price I paid, and the service I received, I would recommend this place to anyone. My garment was finished on time and came out with the PERFECT fit. read more

Been to Aridio for my wedding dress, multiple jackets and work clothes, pants - you name it! Also great work and very fair price. Cash only.

Avoid. See all the other reviews. He just does what he wants, like makes up alterations you didn't ask for or want. He'll forget to do part of an alteration and then argue with you about it. He'll re shape an entire garment when all you asked for was a hem. I have no idea what's going on in his brain. I don't want to find out. read more

Aridio, the owner, is a pleasant, wise craftsman. He did alterations on a bridesmaid dress to perfection and replaced a zipper on a pant suit, rush order for me. He will definitely try to accommodate when he can. I always appreciate that effort. He is definitely going to be my "go to" from now on. read more

I have used this tailor several times as it is very convenient for me. Work is always done in a reasonably quick time for a good price and at high quality. They can handle just about everything it seems from business suits to jeans. They even replaced a button on a pair of pants for me free of charge. read more

I went to Aridio with a quite unusual project -- needed something fixed on a ski jacket. In fact, I found his shop accidentally, on my way home from another tailor who refused to take the job. Had already been to four different tailors -- two of which very highly rated (I wonder why) -- each one told me it's a very complicated job and nothing can be done. (One even estimated that the job would cost four times as much as the jacket -- MSRP $400.) Aridio saw the jacket, inspected the details, asked some questions, and said, no problem! Couldn't believe my ears... He was very friendly and the first person ever who not only didn't have an attitude, but seemed excited to do it! He gave me an excellent price, and five days later I went to pick it up. FABULOUS, FABULOUS JOB!! I couldn't be happier. This is my tailor for life! read more

I needed a tailor last week and Aridio's was the closest one to my apartment. I was a little unsure what to expect based on other reviews, but, I have to say I had a great experience. I needed the sleeves of my suit jacket shortened for the following day. He said no problem and that I could even pick it up at the end of the day. When I went back the sleeves were done and the price was reasonable. Oh, and I don't speak Spanish, so not sure what other people's issues are with that. I'll definitely go back for any future tailor needs. read more

I am very disappointed and annoyed at aridio. I took him my suit pants one week before i had a very important interview that i needed to look good for. And since i read his reviews i decided to go to him. When i arrived and met him he was very rude to me and did not listen to what i wanted. As if he was doing me a favor. He barely speaks english so that also adds to the whole struggle of trying to explain to him. I returned after a week a day before my interview and he couldn't find my pants. After a good 15 minutes of searching it was under a whole pile of trashy clothes creased and covered with threads and still not even done. I told him i need it latest tomorrow morning but he refused and threw the pants at me. I felt like i was negotiating a deal with this guy. He stapled my pants as if its a poster to hang on the wall and now has holes in it. Biggest waste of 15 dollars. Do not bother going to him unless you want to get a really bad service. Aridio my friend you are the worst tailor in astoria. Hands down. read more

This man is amazing. I needed a full suit for my boss made out of novelty fabric for Halloween. I needed it done well, and quickly. Not only did he make the suit within two weeks, he did so with only 1 initial visit to measure and 1 visit to fit. He didn't bat an eye at the strange fabric, and even though he knew it was for a costume, he still made the suit BEAUTIFULLY. I can't stress this enough. He is an artist, and very proud of his work - he loved to show me photos of other suits he had made. Also, his prices were amazing, almost unbelievable, for a handmade suit (we did provide the fabric ourselves, which probably helped lower the price). Yes, there is a major language barrier - he does speak English, but it seems to be limited. Even though I speak a bit of Spanish, I believe he's Dominican, so it's a much quicker dialect, and I couldn't communicate very well at all. However, I read the reviews, and I came prepared with photos of exactly what we wanted. I wrote instructions in English and Spanish (it's often much easier to read another language than it is to understand it when it is spoken), and he and I did a lot of nodding, and pointing, and even some sketching and he kept all of the notes I gave him and we discussed directly in his notebook. Just be patient, and be prepared. People raved over the suit - and couldn't believe that I got it locally made in Astoria. I can't recommend him enough. I sent another friend to him to get his suit majorly altered, and it also came back beautifully done. Mr. Aridio is a rare talent, at a reasonable price, and you just can't find work like this anymore. I only wish he also made suits for women, cause I'd go there in a heartbeat!!!! If you need a suit made or altered - THIS IS YOUR GUY! read more

Aridio is fantastic. I've taken multiple items of clothing for him to hem, line, alter, etc. I use his services anytime I need a tailor. He gets the job done well and in good time. He is very friendly and extremely detailed/talented at his craft. My boyfriend had Aridio make him custom-made pants that have lasted years and were very well-made. 5stars, no question. read more

Beside his Great personality! When it comes to how well you look in your clothing, a good fit makes all the difference. From a basic skirt hem, to re-designing a dress, and tailoring a coat. Aridio's impeccable work and clean delivery has impressed me enough to recommend him to anyone that is looking for a high level of perfection. I have worked in the fashion industry over the years; therefore, my attention to details on garment construction is spot on. I'm high delicate when it comes to my clothes, and how I want construction to be executed. Aridio, has over excited my expectations. No job is too small for him; My roommate once even took his gym bag to have the handles re-stitched. read more

After having my three piece suit destroyed I definitely do not recommend this place. He measured my arm length and the jacket sleeves came out short as well as the pants. I actually wasn't only disappointed with his work, but his personality and character are also horrible. Since I had recently moved to the neighborhood I came to know that everyone dislikes him. In conclusion, don't get your clothes done here. Final. read more

Very rude and horrible customer service. I would not recommend. I asked him a question as to whether he will be able to make alterations to a jacket in a specific way but then all of a sudden he responds that he wouldn't want to proceed with any alterations. So i read a few positive reviews and gave this place a call. Man answers phone and i say hello and proceed to ask him a question. He didn't even let me finish my question before he rudely cut me off. He clearly misunderstood what i asked so i tried asking again and he cut me off again. I decided to ask if he spoke spanish. I made am attempt to ask the question in spanish and even after he finally understood, his attitude was rude and unprofessional. He probably has a split personality since i read some reviews saying how humble and nice he is. Sounds like a miserable rude man to me. He was still yapping when i said ok no thanks take care and hung up the phone. The only reason i gave him 1 star is because i had to... read more

While living in Queens/Astoria, I was always looking for a tailor to fix my work clothes as I lost some weight couple of years ago. One time walking on the 30th avenue, I came across Aridio- Tailor and thought I would give it a try. Aridio was very professional, not crazy expensive and his work was great! I have been going to him for the last two years now and would highly recommend him. I also recommended him to one of my friends' who was looking for a good tailor to fix bridesmaids dresses for her wedding. He gave her a good price and did a great job with the dresses.
