Unfortunately the back light had gone so they needed to replace the logic board as that supplies the power. Their diagnosis and explanation of the problem was excellent. Their repair is fine and they even replaced the rubber feet for free. Where they fell down was on service. I specifically instructed them to contact by phone or email our university finance clerk if the repair was more than the PO (as long as less than cost of 2nd hand mac book pro) and have the PO adjusted. This is normal practice and the uni does loads of business with them. They also failed to update me be email as to the completion date of the repair. The person dealt with was surly, uncommunicative and unhelpful. If you want your Mac or PC repaired you may be lucky and get someone else dealing with it who has a clue about dealing with customers. They will do the repair for you I am sure, but don't expect any communication from them!

Additionally, the battery was not functioning at its full capacity. Just over 3 months after I'd had the repair and a new battery fitted the battery was operating at a level worse than previously. Now, it read; service required. It fails to hold its charge for any considerable length of time. When I rang up to query this, I was politely informed that the guarantee was for 3 months and that is need to bring it in for an engineer to inspect and possibly replace. This would come with a charge. A new battery should not be defecting after just over 3 months. Wish I now went to the apple store as I'm now out for f pocket. Appears that there is now a reason they are cheaper. Would I really return and pay again, knowing what I know now? MacBook no longer runs slow. Very disappointed with the battery scenario! Star rating would be 1 but for my mac running better than when I took it in. That said, time will tell. Less than impressed and will pass my opinion of them to anyone who is thinking of using them.

They have done well to pack a lot into a store of its' size without making it feel too cramped, they have a nice selection of electronics including TV's, computers and miscellaneous tech. Since the closure of all Carphone Warehouse stores, they have added a small Carphone Warehouse kiosk, from the same parent company into the store. The staff seem friendly enough and able to answer most questions I had for them. I do really like how the store is in the city centre, but with it being a mall location, there are limitations, for example, the product range isn't as large as other stores (It would have made more sense to move into the nearby Clas Ohlson unit which is larger), and parking can be an issue, you don't want to have to carry around a big heavy electronic item around a shopping centre into their overpriced parking, or other car parks nearby. Pretty good Currys PC World store, I do think it would be nice if they had a better selection of more premium and higher-end laptops and similar. 4*

I am not from the UK, but have managed to call a few times and I always receive the same answer "tomorrow or the day after". There is no email where one can contact them and the webchat does not cover this situation (I have tried this too). The bank won't return the money unless Currys PC World gives me some proof of the cancelled order, but they cannot be contacted in any way (or I receive the previously mentioned answer).

With no means of recharging, the laptop dies and I was unable to turn it back on again. Naturally this happened around the time coursework was set. So I wrapped the sobbing creature in several carrier bags and stuffed it into a bag and plodded off on a mission to get it help. Luckily enough, I stumbled upon PC Casualty less than two hundred metres from my doorstep. Despite looking a little bit dubious from the outside, the interior is exceedingly professional and the, possibly Russian, assistant quickly allayed my fears by assuring me that he saw 'five or six identical problems each week' and that it was likely that it would be able to be repaired entirely. The bill was over one hundred pounds including VAT but in that situation you really are paralysed with little option but to fork out and I doubt PC World even often a repair service for the computers they sell. It was fixed within three days and they telephoned me to let me know. Overall, a very pleasant outcome.

This is a bright store compared to other Game's, normally Gamestation's are dark and Game stores are bright and hence since the merger that hasn't change, especially with the Manchester Arndale's two branches. I came in here today, to ask the difference between the Day Zero and Standard edition of the new Call of Duty - After being given the Day Zero edition in the other game store, he explained the differences quite well, as I am not up with all the games in that catergary, he could of explained it better but I relativley understood even though his explination was more towards tbe stores target market of hard core gamers. Before going into administration, Game prices were really high priced, but now the prices have came down, they is some really good deals like they had for Black Friday and some, all year round but still some products are far too high compared to sites like Amazon. This store has a better selection than the other GAME store in the Arndale but this is probably because it is at least 3 times as big as it and the layout of games does seem easier to see. Despite being better than the other Game in the Arndale, as I have not purchased from this store in quite a long time, I can only match my rating for the other GAME store because I have not had a proper look at all their products and prices in this store, selection and bought a product in quite a while, It would be unfair to judge this store now on a experience of 1, 2 even 3 years ago so I can only judge based on my experience dealing with a member of staff and having a quick look round today.

All the staff here are friendly (floor workers and even the security guards!), and always happy to help and even stop for a little chat, most recently I was able to come back into the store, after noticing a lower price from Amazon, they were happy to match this price for me, the process was made so easy, I barely had to explain myself and was in and out of the store in a couple of minutes. I always prefer buying my Apple products directly from Apple due to their service, and warranty, the 14-day guarantee to try a product and return if it isn't fit for purpose, shows how Apple are so confident in their products. I also love how they have let me pick up my order earlier than the allocation window, and generally don't mind doing this as long as the item is in stock. This Apple Store is a large one, for a mall location, but what it lacks in having a big, fancy building, it makes up for in terms of being one of the best stores in the Manchester Arndale in terms of product selection and service and is always a reliable shout to buy Apple products or get them repaired, or even if you fancy popping in to get fast WiFi speeds while in town.

But this meant I had to go home and do it myself at home. And will have to return tomorrow to do the trade-in. More of my time and money and wasted because, frankly, the people who work there were not expert enough to troubleshoot. I thought it was poor being passed from one assistant to the other.

It reminded me of my days back in Uni and more so because I had to go back to the university area to get all these things for cheap. I had to print 100 copies of color handouts with two hand outs in each page. My friend from University suggested me to go to Compudos right next to pub zoo and near MMU students union. Thank god it is March and the students don't have to get their ultra thick dissertations printed, because this is when printing places become busier than Obama (No kidding). I had a pretty smooth entry into the shop because there was no queue of any kind and the shop owner was very friendly and welcoming. I could not find my pen drive so he let me use his computer to open my email and find the document (bless him). He then printed out the copies for me and also help me cut the papers (I had two handouts in one sheet). That was such a big help because I was dreading to do that by myself. He also guided me as to where I could find a massive cardboard and paint for cheap. The printing cost me only 23 pounds (100 copies of color print). Verdict: Good service and reasonable pricing! I am definitely going back whenever I have any printing work!

My friends have used Compudos to repair their computers in the past and report them to be quick and reasonably priced - but then any price is reasonable when it comes to recovering your un-backed up research project. My contact with the business came when I needed to get my dissertation bound on the day it was due to be handed in. The queues at the highly recommended U-Print (located on The University of Manchester's north campus) were massive and I was verging on full-blown panic attack by the time I reached Compudos. Within five minutes they had spiral bound both copies of my dissertation at a charge of only £7 (metal binding is available for £8.50 a copy and hardback for £15, with a £5 surcharge for a one hour rush service.) I handed it in with half an hour to spare. And that's how Compudos saved my degree, true story.

While there are Game concessions in various larger stores like Selfridges and HMV, my favourite has to be this Arndale Centre location. The staff are a little pushy but they will leave you alone once you state that you're browsing, simply offering help if you ask for it.
