I came in here looking for a very standard computer accessory and found a cold, unwelcoming warehouse style shop that couldn't have been in greater contrast with its 'fruity, crunchy' (non-pc) counterpart, on the first floor of the nearby Bentall Centre. The in-store signs led me to explore the wrong part of the store; I was redirected with a cursory glance and directional hand-gesture, when I asked where my item was located. Once I found what I was looking for, I asked - at the enquiry desk - if it would be suitable for my specific purposes. The first member of staff said it wouldn't. I asked him if he was sure and his (more senior) colleague replied that it would indeed be fine. So, as the previous reviewer suggests, staff can vary in their knowledge levels. Once you have your item and are ready to pay, you'll need to queue at one of the two tills, by the door. Overall it was an experience that provided what I needed, on a very basic level, but it was far from a pleasurable shopping experience or one that surpassed my expectations. Yes it's cheaper, yes it is quite big BUT staff do not know their ICT. I would only recommend people to go here if you know what you want 100% and you are looking to get it at a reasonable price. read more

I visited PC World in St Helens Ravenhead Retail Park recently with my 85 year old grandmother. I was immediately impressed by the level of customer service. When we walked in an assistant saw that my Gran was having difficulty walking and offered her a seat, they then asked what we were looking for and answered our queries. They were able to show us all of the remotes so that we could check that she could read them. When what we wanted wasn't in stock they checked to see where else they were in stock and reserved one at the town centre store but let us pay for it there so that my Gran wouldn't have to get out of the car. They also gave us a good will returns policy of 7 days just in case my Gran couldn't use it when she got home. read more

This PC World is close to the Benthal Centre. It's a large store on two floors with lots of stock for the general computer buyer for anything a little more specialist you will have to go elsewhere. It's great if you want to pick up a laptop there and then rather than to wait for mail order or Dell to deliver. Prices are on the high side and be clear about what you are after before you go in as staff vary from knowledgeable to knowing little or nothing about their stock. Often quite quiet inside but it can be still difficult to find a member of staff to help you out if making a special visit it's worth checking stock levels on line first items can also be reserved on-line for store pick up. read more

I visited PC world a few times around last October but had great difficulty in obtaining a member of staffs attention to give me information. I was looking for a pc monitor but when I eventually got a staff member to speak to me he seemed to lose interest quickly when he realised how low my budget was and said for that price they were all the same and shrugged. I went home and searched the websites and found reserve deal at pc world but the website was playing up so went back to store and they would not sell me one nor could they reserve it in store on their computer. However a more helpful member of staff, later as we were browsing, showed us end of range monitors and we got one at an even better price than the web reserve and with a 12 month warranty. All was well in the end, but we really had to persist thought buying should be easier than this it felt more like we were selling to them instead. read more
