Leave the kids at home! Ikea- flat pack paradise! I can't fault Ikea, I have a lot of stuff from here. When you get tired, grab yourself a hotdog of some meatballs to give you the strength to continue. All I ask is you leave the kids, you don't need those little rug rats getting under your feet, this place is stressful enough :)

The original and best. IKEAs have sprung up all over the country since, but this flagship store in Warrington was the place I always looked forward to being dragged around as a kid. Why? It was next to a Toys R' Us. When I was small I was left in a ballpool all day until my parents came to get me, at which point I'd ride around on their trolley. When I was a little bigger I was left in a miniature cinema that played my favourite cartoons all day until my parents came to get me, at which point I'd ride around on their trolley. When I was big enough to walk round with my parents and pick things out for my own bedroom, dorm room or flat, I'd browse with them, at which point I'd ride around on their trolley. Man, some of my favourite memories have Swedish names. Heck, my best ever memory has a Swedish name, but that's another story. (Valentine's shout out to the BF there.) There's no denying it. IKEA is ace. It's stylish, modern, brightly coloured, functional stuff. Yes it can be flimsy, and flat packing is a pain in the behind, and I've never heard my parents argue more than when they were putting together my Billy Bookcase or my Sprüngli Bed or my Lack End Table or my Björn Life-Partner... wait, I found that one myself. And to be fair, Lacks are really easy. You just screw the legs on. It's just my parents can bicker over anything like that. It's very amusing. You wanted to be in a car with them before sat navs were invented. Anyway, this monolith of blue and yellow loveliness sits in an ideal motorway location, and don't worry, students... many Manchester universities run coach trips to IKEA so you can grab some everyday essentials. Besides, there's one closer now in Ashton-Under-Lyne so there's no excuse. IKEA sells anything and everything, from furniture to entire kitchens, small appliances to decorative items. The restaurant is a great place to test out your Swedish sensibilities... my father and I used to love the meatballs which obviously I don't eat any more, but you can buy them to take away as well as miniature Daim bars and a variety of cakes and biscuits. And it's amazing for kids - like I say, plonk them in the ballpool or the cartoon room and you don't have to worry about your sproglets for the whole day. Of course they will bug you to take them to Toys R' Us as soon as they see the bright lights and Geoffrey the Giraffe. You have been warned.

I used to live in North Wales so IKEA was like a day out to me. We loved it. I particularly looked forward to the swedish meatballs for my lunch. When I moved to Liverpool, the first thing I said to my family was "IKEA is only 20 minutes away" - I was thrilled. IKEA is a DIY haven, I could wander around the store all day. The warehouse is massive and you could go in thinking that you don't even need anything for your house but come out with a complete refurb. From shelves, to screws, to crockery, to sofas - IKEA sells absolutely everything you could ever need at a decent price. I

Ahhh Ikea we have so much to thank you for: Thanks for giving us cheap furniture/bit and bobs to make our student halls/ homes look less terrifying/ depressing/ crap. Thanks for bringing an once of style to the average British home. Thanks for selling the cheapest Kopparberg cider anywhere in the U.K -90p a can. Thanks for giving my hometown some kind of landmark aside from the local motorway services. Thanks Ikea we still love you even when we get a bit ahead of ourselves and convince ourselves you were sooo 5 years ago. Keep going strong our Swedish blue and yellow friend.

Ooo I Love Ikea - I visit the Warrington store a few times a year and I always to come home laden down with Goods (Most of which I never planned to Buy!). Ikea is always full to the brim with Bargains for your Home and Office, if your moving into a New Home or just re-decorating you must visit Ikea to stock up on new furnishings beacause it has everything you possiblly need all under the one roof and the best bit about it is that its Sooo Cheap! The thing I love most about Ikea is that you can browse for Items online or in the Catalogue beforehand which makes shopping much easier. I also love the fact that you can pick up lots of Quirky Gadgets for your Kitchen. The one Downside to Ikea is the layout, you have to walk through the whole store to get to the end so its not the kind of store you go to for a quick shop. Another Negative point is because you have to collect larger items at the end of the store you dont know if they are in stock until you get there. More often that not I've gone to the shelve to pick up my flat pack furniture only to find that they have all sold out and by that time I can be bothered to go back into the store to search for a replacement! But its smiles all round again after youve passed the Check out because you are greeted by the Sweedish Cafe & Food Market which is Heaven Delicious food & very cheap. With English breakfasts starting from just 95p and Tea/Coffee only 75p with Unlimited re-fills. If its just a quick snack you want try one of the tradtional Hot dogs for only 50p. I always pick up some tasty sweedish biscuits and sweets for the Journey home.
