So, my baby broke, and I had to get her fixed.
Now, my laptop broke way back in February; chunks of the black plastic around the screen started to fall off and the hinges started to crack - big no no in the laptop world. After literally months of putting off getting it fixed, I wandered down to PC Casualty. Although I am fully aware that there are other repair shops with better reviews/cheaper prices out there, this place is a 10 minute walk away from my house, so bonus marks for them! I popped in to the shop on a Thursday to check that they could actually fix the problem and took it in on the Friday. Distressingly for me I had to hand it over there and then and I don't think the guy quite understood why I was so reluctant, which was a tad annoying. I supppose it was my own fault taking it in on a Friday seeing as PC Casualty is closed over the weekend, meaning they don't get deliveries etc etc. But, only a few days later, I got my baby back! I felt like having a parade until I got home and realised my keyboard wasn't working. Naturally this was at about half past 3 and the shop closes at 4, so I marched back down and, presumably red faced, suggested that something had been disconnected during the fixing process. The guy seemed very surprised to see me and a touch embarrased, which made me calm down a bit, as did him taking it from me straight away and fixing the problem in about 10 minutes. Hearing him take it apart it the back was highly distressing but he seems to know what he's doing.
To be honest I probably could have got it a bit cheaper somewhere else, and quicker if I had taken it in early week, but I'm happy with the service I received. (And what did I do without a laptop for the weekend? Why, I fled to Wigan and used the bf's laptop of course!) read more
