My then fiancé and I decided to pull together a quick ceremony, with the idea unfolding on May 9, 2019. We decided on May 24, 2019, two weeks away, for our ceremony. With the help of our amazing wedding coordinator, Karisa, we booked ARIA Studios on May 16, 2019. We were overjoyed that we got a professional photographer on such short notice and it was especially important to get these memories captured. Our wedding day came and I arrived at our venue. As soon as I stepped out of the car, Jess from ARIA Studios was there, snapping moments that I will remember for a lifetime. She was so kind and patient with my (now) husband and I (we are really not models). We loosened up with her gentle guidance and she even helped me convince my husband to get in the water for some photos. My mother's health declined quickly and so I asked for the photos of her from that day expedited, knowing full well that it might be an additional fee. I received the photos quickly and Mom was able to see them and enjoy them. Now our family will remember this day, my happiest day of my life, which I was able to share with my beautiful Mom. We have received all of our photos and Hubby and I could not be more happy with them. It's taking a lot of restraint not to be totally weird about it and print lifesize photos and put them all over the house. We were referred to Aria by many, including my husband's cousin who works with Aria Studios. Their work is absolutely awesome and their team is awesome. Kolby, Kash, Holly & Jessica all flew to Maui the day of our wedding. The were very professional and very easy to work it. Jessica was the main contact and she responded to emails efficiently. About 4 days after our wedding, Holly was able to email us a couple of preview photos while they worked on editing the rest. I met Kolby and her team about 10 years ago when I used to work at The Wedding Café, I always admired their work and loved working with them at events. Ever since then the photography and videography industry has skyrocketed and there are so many other great vendors out there but Aria Studios is still my #1 choice! I always envisioned them doing our Same Day Edit and taking our wedding photos. When we got engaged Aria Studios was the first vendor we booked. Their team was super responsive with all of our hundreds of questions and changes, hopefully we didn't drive them too nuts! On our wedding day we had Kolby, Holly, Jess and Brady, they were so awesome! The morning started off overcast and rainy, then the power went out while we were getting our hair and makeup done but thankfully we had a backup generator coming! Even though we were running late, they were super professional and didn't make us feel rushed at all. They all made sure we felt comfortable while we were taking the awkward posed shots and were like ninjas behind the scenes taking candid shots. Like everyone says, the entire day went by in a flash and by the time we knew it the day was over. We LOVED our Same Day Edit, they did an amazing job in capturing our wedding day! They said our photos would take about 2 months and they were not kidding cause we got them exactly on the 2 month mark. Everything came out exactly what we hoped for and more! I wanted to love Aria Studios so bad, it honestly kills me to write this review. We got married June 2021 and all these months later I'm still so disappointed in the photos and service I received. Starting from the beginning, we stumbled on Aria Studios on Instagram and once meeting them in person at the Wedding Expo, we knew they were the one. Aria Studios is definitely on the pricier side but we loved them so much and photographs were really important to us that we decided that they were worth it. Hindsight is 20/20 and if I could go back in time, I wouldn't hire Aria Studios again. Leading up to our wedding day we had great interactions with their manager Sharon. She was super pleasant and easy to work with. I wish that some sort of consultation was included with the actual photographer prior to our wedding day... if that had happened maybe I would feel differently about the pictures we received in the end. Following our wedding, communication was not the greatest. The date we were supposed to receive our pictures came and went and no communication on behalf of Aria Studios. Eventually I reached out and was told to expect them shortly. I'm not upset that the pictures were late, I would rather them take their time and not rush so that I have good quality pictures but I do wish that the communication on their end was better. I wish that they had reached out saying the needed some time and were upfront about it. Sadly, when getting our pictures we were again disappointed. We had a very small COVID wedding so the majority of our pictures were staged pictures which we had no problem with. However, we did have issues with the unflattering angles they captured. Some with people angled too much or too little. In some pictures people were spaced too far and oddly. Some of the pictures we received had people's hair blowing in their faces, dresses flying up. Our family pictures were the most important to us. These are likely the last professional pictures we will take with our grandparents and sadly they are not ones I would want framed. I hate saying this but our family photos look very amateur and do not reflect the amount of money we paid. We were also disappointed in the lack of variety of photos we received. If I could do the day over, I would ask to have more variety in locations. We got married at Cafe Julia. There are so many amazing backdrops within minutes of our venue. Yet, we took pictures only by the pool, outside the front doors of Cafe Julia and the old post office building. I see other pictures on Instagram of people taking pictures in the area and I have serious envy. Lastly, we were disappointed with the lack of attention to detail. There were so many pictures that look off centered (not intentionally done) or were askew. I cropped one of the pictures to be centered and printed it as thank you cards and one of the feedback I got from a friend was "I wish I could see your faces. It is blurry." Sadly, that was not a printing issue, that was the quality of the picture we received. In one of the staged photos that they sent us, there was also napkin on the ground front and centered. We did ask them to fix that and they kindly did... although I wish that someone had noticed that and I didn't have to ask. Overall, just very disappointing. They say that wedding venders cost a lot because it's one day and you can't get the day back to re-do photos. Sadly that is true and sadly I paid a lot and was still VERY disappointed. read more

The whole team is super fun and easy to work with, incredibly professional, and their work is perfection. We knew from the beginning we wanted a cinematographer for our wedding. As soon as we saw ARIA's portfolio, we were in love. This was one of the best wedding planning decisions we made! The day goes by so quickly and it almost feels like you're in a dream; the video captures the vibe and the emotions and the fun and all the stuff that was a blur. Kash and Jonas were video ninjas. They got all of these amazing shots and you didn't even realize they were there. The highlight video they put together is so perfect and I'm so in love. Did you know ARIA studios also shoots family photos?? While they are well known for their wedding videography and photography, I think it's a lesser known fact that they also do kid and/or family pictures! I'd highly highly recommend them! ARIA took our family pics a couple months ago and they were so so easy to work with from start to finish. Plus the photos came out great, which was no easy feat. We are not photogenic at all, plus with a squirmy toddler and opinionated preschooler running around, I wasn't sure what to expect. Jess was our photographer and she was super sweet and so patient with my kids (who were being less than cooperative). I was getting frazzled as my 2 yr old didnt want to smile and my 4 yr old refused to listen and only wanted to bombard Jess with questions. I dont know how, but somehow she managed to get some great candids of our family, especially of my kids, which captured their personalities perfectly. I am a picky person when it comes to videography. I knew as soon as I started planning the wedding I wanted a good chunk to go to videography because it's something we can watch years from now to remember our special day. I found Aria studios and immediately became obsessed with their videos. I mean they are just SO GOOD! We got married at Aulani in April and got a same day edit. I couldn't believe they did that in a few hours!! Our entire wedding from ceremony to reception was only 5 hours and they did such an amazing job. Everyone LOVED it. I've seen so many same day edit and it usually just getting ready, the ceremony and maybe the grand entrance. But they got so much of the reception in there, including the toasts. I've watched my same day edit so many times!! If you're looking to get an awesome video of your wedding and looking for super awesome people to work with, definitely go with Aria Studios! read more

In a Yelp world filled with Rainbows, Unicorns, and endless hyperboles, it gets a little difficult to truly wade through all of the fluff and find something, or in this case, someone truly great. With a wedding, you only get one shot and for my husband and I, we can honestly say that Kolby and her team at Aria were nothing short of amazing. Before choosing Aria, we were able to browse through some of their work and really liked what we saw. They were on a very, VERY short list of candidates we wanted to interview as videographers for our wedding, and after our initial interview with Kolby, it really became one of the easiest decisions we made during the entire wedding planning process. From the start, she was very warm, jovial, and genuinely interested in getting to know us. Talent, taste, and commitment were the three most important factors in choosing all of our wedding vendors, and Kolby excelled in all three. We ended up doing a Same Day Edit and the Love Story add-on. SOOOOO glad we did the Love Story add-on. We were extremely nervous during the shoot, because we're not in front of cameras very often and shot in fairly public places. Some of the things that rolled off our tongues probably weren't the most polished or charming things we've ever said, but Kolby masterfully and tastefully put it all together in something that truly exceeded our expectations. We waited until the night of our wedding (per Kolby's recommendation) to see the videos, and the first words that came out of both of our mouths when we turned at looked at each other that night were, "Wow." If you're looking at this review, we probably don't need to tell you that weddings in Hawaii are expensive. Aria is so bomb-diggity amazing there's no way to capture how fabulous they are with this 5 star rating. You MUST get them if you're having your wedding on one of the islands (or, if you can afford it, fly the crew out to your wedding locale)! Seriously, they are *that* amazing. As Kayla mentioned, their claim to fame (at least compared to what other videographers do) is their SDE. They miraculously take footage taken from the day and edit it into a movie-quality clip that guests will go ga-ga over. All of our guests thought it was the highlight of the reception -- the video managed to top a fire dancer! Kolby, Kash, Christine, John & Ray are excellent at their art and manage, in spite of being 5 folks deep, to get footage without your even noticing that they are there. We hired them for our wedding (sorry for the late review ) we had initially seen some of their videos from the wedding café workshops. After meeting them at the bridal show I wanted to interview them. From the first interview with Kolby and Jess my husband and I knew they were the ones. Kolby is truly talented in videography and the core of Aria studios, her fellow aria studio team members Jonas and Jessica were absolutely stupendous as well. Due to the weather our wedding timeline got thrown off course (even with a wedding coordinator) and they were able to handle everything so professionally. They were so polite, kind, accommodating, and professional. Hands down they are responsible for making our weddings one of the most memorial days of our lives. I have been stalking Aria's website since I first knew my hubby was "the one". They were literally the first vendor I contacted when we first got engaged. I wanted to use them so badly, I was willing to change my wedding date according to their availability. Luckily I didn't have to. Kolby is everything. She was so on it and was very detailed in explaining all of my options. You can tell she's been to her fair share of weddings because she was able to whip up a tentative timeline right then and there. Plus, her enthusiasm is infectious. She makes you feel excited about your wedding and that it will be the most special wedding they've ever done. I hired Aria for our photography and videography. The same day edit was AMAZING. Everyone was so impressed and I know some of my guests have since passed along referrals to their families and friends. Confession: I watch it daily, its THAT good! "Mind-blowing." That's what you think of sitting in your wedding and watching the past few hours cinematically fly by. Like magic, it amazed everyone who was at the wedding (even us, who knew what was going to happen!) The best part is that people who weren't able to come said that it was just like being there. Honestly, it puts the good old slideshow to shame. That being said, it also dwarfs the cost of a slideshow, but is beyond worth it. When we started out looking at wedding stuff a year before, my cousin turned the wife on to Aria. In essence, this is where you say to your friendss, "It was over." Once the wife saw what Aria did, we had to move some money around to make it a priority to have them film it. They were the first vendor we signed and we did not have a location picked out yet! You get an immediate sense that Kolby really loves what she does and it shows on the (big) screen. When it became showtime, I was so focused anyways that having an extra film crew roaming around didn't bother me at all. They made us feel quite comfortable. Everything was so seamless. I can't even explain how awesome Aria Studios is! We hired them to shoot a video of our wedding and they are amazing!! From our first meeting with Kolby, I knew we would like them. Plus, they do something called a same day edit (SDE) which we LOVED and wanted at our wedding. The SDE is a short (3 - 4 min.) video that they make on your wedding day of the bride and groom prep and the ceremony. As soon as the reception starts, Aria's crew gets to work editing and creating an amazing video that they show during the reception. Our guests were so amazed by the video and it is such a fun, easy clip to share with family and friends that couldn't make the wedding! (You can check out some of their clips on their blog to get an idea. But beware, you will probably fall in love and have to have them at your wedding!) And talk about being unobtrusive...their video cameras are no bigger than a large digital camera so they are hardly ever visible. They managed to sneak around all day and get some amazing video. I admit...I have been stalking Aria's Vimeo site from before my fiancé popped the question lol. I did lots of research prior to booking and watched hundreds of wedding highlights/same day edit videos from numerous vendors. I loved that they incorporate speeches, great angles, and they truly capture the genuine love from your wedding day. Photos capture beautiful still memories in time, while video captures the feeling and emotions throughout the day so you can relive them over and over again; both very important aspects when planning your wedding. Initially we contacted other vendors because we figured Aria was out of our budget, but after contacting them for a quote..we decided to go with our gut instinct and pick the BEST videographer out there. Kolby, the owner of the company is warm, friendly, and very good at what she does. You know their wedding videos are good when you cry watching someone else's SDE! lol. Their packages are ala carte and can get pricey, but you definitely get the most for your money. We booked them to film our Vietnamese tea ceremony in the morning followed by the traditional ceremony and reception in the evening. We had Kolby, Jonas, and Andrew shoot our wedding day and not once did they make us feel awkward..it felt like we were hanging out with friends=). We added on the Same Day Edit because we had lots of out-of-town guests and figured it was a nice way to wrap up our wedding reception. When we saw our SDE, we were blown away! I personally did not use there services but my best friend did, and I am sitting here watching her video and sadly we can't find many good to say. There is no video of her getting ready, and she had the cameras there doing the process. Your company should consider background music during the videos, because hearing guests talk and what not is not nice. I mean what if a guest said something horrible during an important moment that can not be left out. It's a good consideration. Also I felt like the reception part was flat. Was the camera on a tripod and just left there? At one point it was faced the bridal party and a guest was blocking the view. This occurred for at least a min. Also we thought it was weird to have the ceremony and reception video seperated. Like it should be connected as 1 whole video showcasing the entire wedding and it's highlights. The ceremony part was cut off at an odd time no transition either like the ending to a movie would have. Glad I did not choose this videographer for my wedding. Quality definitely is a minimum. Kolby and company were extremely friendly,. We hardly noticed they were there after brief introductions....they were great at blending into the background yet catching amazing shots of our wedding! The video was stunning. Audio was impeccable, and only the groom was mic-ed Extremely happy with the highlight video! It was everything we wanted it to be. Really captured the beauty and magic of the venue. We've already re-watched it at last 10 times in the past week... which is more than we've looked at the wedding photos. Many of our friends regretted not getting a videographer, so we didn't want to make the same mistake. We are happy we chose to go with Aria after interviewing multiple other companies. We hired Aria Studios to do our photography and videography for our destination wedding in Oahu almost a year before our wedding. From the start, they were extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful throughout the planning process. I felt as though I had constant questions popping up while planning a wedding from across the world - and they were always there to answer any. My first time meeting the team was on our wedding day, and they made us feel super comfortable (both my husband and I hate getting our pictures taken - we are super silly and can't take anything seriously). They made our personalities work while still getting some "romantic" shots for us. We ordered a same day edit video that turned out gorgeous, it brings tears to our eyes every time we watch it. On top of that, we received all of the raw unedited video footage from the day in a cute package last week. We had one minor issue when getting back our same day edit, and Aria Studios immediately worked with us and went above and beyond to fix the issue. Our experience with Aria Studio for our wedding was great! The team were well-coordinated and were super responsive in terms of communication before the wedding. On the wedding day, they had a team of 4 people, 2 for photography and 2 for video, and all very friendly and passionate about what they were doing. They would definitely not increase your anxiety level by drawing your attention to their work; they will just do their job and minimize the interference with the wedding. For the deliverables, they have a nice website set up (that guests do not need to pay anything to download all raw photos, which is great). And the highlight film is supreme, we love it very much (you could search them on Vimeo). This saddens me not to give Aria Studio 5 stars. When planning my wedding the first thing on my mind was to hire Aria Studio. I knew they needed to be a part of my dream wedding. I was very excited when their crew came on our wedding day and more so excited to see their work. After the wedding I inquired how long our video would take. They initially told me 3 months, 3 months came along and we had no email or follow up, so I emailed them. They then told me it would be about 4 months. 4 months came along and I received no email so I followed up and I got the link to view my video and they sent out the raw footage the next day. I spent a lot of money for their service (they were my most expensive vendor) and I felt like there was a lack of communication. I was pretty disappointed with the service they provided us considering I paid over $5000 for them. We didn't want a cookie cutter video that looked like everyone elses...After watching all of their videos on their vimeo site and shedding a few tears for people I didn't even know... I contacted Kolby for a price quote. Meeting with Kolby and Kash sealed the deal for me. They laid out everything without a hidden agenda. I knew exactly what I would be getting and how much everything would cost us. There was a price list that listed all packages and any extras that were options to add on. We talked for a couple hours about the company and about my then fiance and I. After getting to know them, I knew that I would be able to lay my trust in them to produce a video that we would be more than happy with. We hired Aria to do a Love Story + SDE (Same Day Edit). They had such great ideas for our love story and we filmed on both Oahu and Kauai. The editing that was done on our love story was flawless..there were tears of joy and also lots of laughter. Everyone laughed and still laughs so hard. I'm happy we decided to go the route of the love story because it'll be something that we can watch forever and remind us of "us" before the wedding. Our SDE was nothing short of fabulous. Kolby and the team was super flexible and willing to do anything for us. My husband didn't finalize plans to go moped riding in the morning until around 2 am the day of. Kolby and the team was so accomodating and willing to go the extra mile at the very last minute. When the SDE played at our wedding everyone was amazed that the guys went mopeding and the quality of the video. I was amazed that I didn't notice them getting some of the shots that they did throughout the day. Spending the money on videography, was to us worth every penny. We can't thank them enough. We were very happy when we received our video and to this day, almost two years later, we still watch it and laugh! When we attend other weddings and see their SDEs, I always leave extremely happy and satisfied that we hired ARIA to do our wedding. Stop clicking around. If you're looking for the best photographers/videographers in Honolulu, you've found them. Summary: Hire Aria, and hire them for both photography and videography. If you're still in the budgeting stage, budget some more and save on other expenses because it's simply essential, crucial, and mandatory to have both photographers and videographers. The day goes by so fast, in a blur, that you won't remember half of it in a week's time. That's where photos and videos come in, memories will be kept forever and ever. Photos document the static moments, capturing the essence of the day, the details, the people. Videos however, capture the dynamic moments, allowing you to relive the mood and emotions again and again. That is why both are absolutely essential. That being said, it is also crucial to hire an EXCELLENT team. I've been to enough weddings to know exactly what I don't want to see (e.g. videographer not catching the aisle walk the first time and asking the bride and groom to repeat the walk 3 times..., finished products delivered after the first child was born, etc.). I also did enough (excessive) research to know what I want to see. Part of the reason was because we had a long engagement (3yrs+) and 3 cities to choose from to hold our wedding: Vancouver, LA/OC, Honolulu. I had more than plenty of time to scour for photographers and videographers in all 3 cities, and did just that. Unfortunately, due to this, I developed a critical eye for wedding photography, and was very specific on what had to be accomplished on the day of. When I first found Aria, I communicated with Jessica to learn more about their work, and emphasized that I wanted candid moments, nothing orchestrated or fake, as well as my other requirements. She was so friendly and positive, every email felt like an explosion of pink bubbles and sparkles, on top of that she was replying my emails at 11pm, dedication! Planning a destination wedding takes a bit of courage, but Jess made sure I was comfortable with their team. On the day of, the Aria team performed above and beyond my expectations. They were agile, efficient, and invisible. The Aria team moved like true ninjas, I couldn't even tell they were there! The photographers (Jess and Holly) and videographers (Kash and Jonas) were in sync, and worked seamlessly together, which emphasizes the importance of hiring them as a package. The big day went by in a blur, and while we were slothing around in Honolulu the next day, the Aria team emailed us 2 preview shots that sent jitters up my spine. It was love at first sight. The rest of the finished products followed shortly, and exceeded our expectations. Everything was absolutely perfectly done. All the photos were perfectly timed, and captured each moment in its essence, from the mischievous facial expressions of my ring bearers, to a Vanity Fair cover-like family portrait, to teary eyed bridesmaids. The video was epic. After watching it for the first time, my dad needed a few moments to recollect himself. Then he secretly hid and watched it a few times on repeat (I could tell because I kept hearing the faint background music coming from somewhere...) There are moments in life when something stirs your emotions, whether it be a well written article, or a good movie. Your wedding video is going to be that something. It's worth the investment. I cannot applaud or thank Team Aria enough for the efforts they put into our big day. But I can tell you it's worth every single penny, even if you have to splurge. The first time I met Kolby (head cinematographer of Aria) a couple years back, she was sitting at Starbucks drinking coffee and checking fantasy football. It was from then on I knew we were gonna get along juuust fine. Not only are Kolby and her crew super talented, but they are awesome people and truly have a passion for capturing all the intricate moments of your wedding and making it shine through video. No one video is the same, and they really make it a point to find what you feel is important and incorporate it into the story you want to tell (or the story that your wedding day becomes). Now, I know weddings are mostly for the ladies. The flowers, dresses, color scheme...that stuff I left for my wife. But the first time I saw one of Aria's SDE (same day edits) a couple years ago, I was hooked. My mind was blown at the detail, creativity, and quality of their videos. I did a lot of research on the many cinematography companies in Hawaii, but in the end we felt that Aria was absolutely the total package. Nothing was staged, so you don't have to feel like an actor/actress on your wedding day, and they really do a good job of blending in so that you can just be yourself, relax, and focus on the fact that you are about to get married. Words can't describe how thankful we are for the work Kolby and her crew did on our SDE (Same Day Edit) and Love Story. For anyone worried about budgets and all the other crap that goes into planning a wedding, my vote is to go hard on the cinematography and go with Aria. Worth every penny and then some. At first I was going to go with "The one that looked the cheapest" but after my planner convinced me to find a videographer with an appealing style and feel rather than just 'the cheapest' I decided to go with ARIA studios~ Their videos have a wonderful airy feel that I felt was super appropriate for our wedding. I am glad I was talked out of going with 'just the cheapest' The staff was always pleasant, courteous and very warm to me and my family. On the day of, Jonas and his team did a great job of working alongside Rachel (Our photographer) and put me at ease while recording. It was more fun rather than nerve wracking to be honest! I loved their style the minute I started scoping out photographers for my wedding, and they really followed through! We were going for the vintage hawaiian look and they really captured our wedding the way I had imagined it to be. I had done a lot of research on videographers and ARIA is definitely one of the more expensive companies out there. However, I just really love the quality of their work and style of their videos. During my research, I would be watching their videos of random strangers getting married and start tearing up. They have the ability to really bring out the beauty of any couple's wedding day. We ordered the same day edit and LOVED their work. It perfectly captured the best/meaningful parts of our wedding and we were so glad we could share it with all our guests. They are very professional, friendly, and good at remaining in the background, even though they're always around, capturing every moment of your wedding day.
